Woman Bludgeons 6-Month-Old Granddaughter To Death With Sledgehammer Then Slits Her Throat
Sometimes family is not the best option to watch your children, as evidenced by this story of suburban Chicago woman, Alfreda Giedrojc, who bludgeoned her granddaughter to death and then cut her throat.
On Sunday, Giedrojc’s son-in-law brought his six-month old daughter to visit her grandparents at their home. When he and his father-in-law left the house for a short period of time, the 61-year-old began to attack her granddaughter, laying the baby on the floor and then swinging a sledgehammer onto her head several times. Shockingly, despite the blows to the head, the granddaughter was still alive, so Giedrojc then picked up the baby and slit her throat.
Detective Mike Kaufmann, who works for Oak Lawn, the suburb where Giedrojc lived, told CNN Giedrojc expressed remorse for the child’s death when questioned and that investigators have not found any record of previous arrests or mental illness in her past.
Currently, Alfreda Giedrojc is being held without bail and has been charged with first-degree murder.
We send out kind thoughts to the baby’s family.
