Mariah Carey has chosen Jermaine Dupri and his So So Def label as her new manager. The duo has worked together before, and created hits like “We Belong Together” and “Always Be My Baby.” The two were caught in the studio alongside Mike WiLL Made It and Rodney Jenkins, working together on her 14th album, “The Art of Letting Go.”
Her previous manager was former American Idol judge Randy Jackson, who had been with Carey since the 1990s. They parted ways last spring.
The latest album was supposed to be released over the summer, but was delayed because, Carey tweeted she “got so immersed in the creative process” that it wouldn’t have “done it justice” to release it on July 23rd as planned.
In a press statement, Dupri said, “A multi-talented artist of Mariah’s caliber should be doing everything imaginable. I’m sure others have said this but not the way I intend to do it. For me, it’s about the execution.”
And Carey added, “We have a bond that surpasses music. I am super excited about our merger because we have so many innovative ideas that I know will come to fruition.”
Is this a dream team?
