Access Denied: 9 Celebrities Who Tried To “Holla” At Other Famous Folks And Were Rejected

Amy Winehouse and Nas

You know you would love to be more than friends with someone when you write a song about them. That’s reportedly what the late Amy Winehouse did for Nas when she wrote the song “Me and Mr. Jones.”  Nas confirmed that the song was about him, but that they never moved from buddies into a romantic relationship, but stayed good friends. He said that producer Salaam Remi told him she wrote the song about him, dropping hints with lyrics like “Mr. Destiny, 9 and 14,” which referenced his daughter Destiny and the fact that Winehouse and Nas (Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones) shared the same birthday on September 14. While he never wrote any songs for her while she was alive, two collaborations were released after her death. One was recorded before her untimely passing (“Like Smoke”) and the other was a posthumous collabo for his album, Life is Good (“Cherry Wine”).
