Arsensio Hall To Open Up About Late-Night TV Comeback On ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’
57-year-old comedian and actor Arsenio Hall is scheduled to make an appearance on an upcoming episode of popular OWN series, Oprah’s Next Chapter.
During the up close and personal interview, Arsenio will open up about his return to late-night television with The Arsenio Hall Show, The Grio reports. He will also address being one of the only African American late-night hosts and why it’s so significant. Of course, Oprah wouldn’t be Oprah if she didn’t dig deep, so viewers will also have an opportunity to hear the media personality discuss growing up feeling like he was destined to make people laugh and the major impact that his Baptist minister father had in the shaping of his comedic career.
As if that isn’t enough, the episode, which was shot at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles, will highlight the Coming To America actor’s relationship with his 13-year-old son and why having a hands-on approach to parenting is so important, even though he’s a single father.
In other Arsenio Hall news, the Ohio native has a lot to celebrate, as The Arsenio Hall Show has been performing extremely well, as far as ratings go, Variety reports. During a recent interview with Maxim, Arsenio confessed that he actually has his good friend and fellow comic, George Lopez, to credit for his success and return to late-night TV. The way Arsenio tells the story, back when George had his own late-night show, he would often swing by the set and they would head to Lakers games together. One night while he was waiting around the studio, George asked Arsenio to introduce his special guest for the evening, Snoop Dogg. It was then that he realized he missed late-night TV.
“George said I should bring him out. I was like, ‘No, no, you see the way I’m dressed.’ He says, ‘Do it, man. I’ve got a suit!’ Something happened that night. There was just something the audience gave me, and I knew that I was going to do this motherf*****g show again, even if I had to do it in my yard. I’m thrilled. For the first time in two years, I can’t wait for it to get dark!”Arsenio said.
Oprah’s Next Chapter featuring Arsenio Hall airs on October 20th 9/8c on OWN. Will you watch?
