Actress Jada Pinkett-Smith decided to take a rather long stroll down memory lane. What she came back with were vintage photos, dating back to her high school years, of she and lifelong friend, Tupac Shakur.

“We met at Baltimore School for the Arts. It was the first day and he came over to me and introduced himself. In high school, Pac was a little funny looking. Definitely from looking at him, he definitely wasn’t the type of cat that I would even deal with. He was like a magnet, he sort of sucked you in. We hit it off from that moment on,” Jada revealed during an interview for a documentary preceding the rapper’s death.

Jada went on to describe the nature of their friendship.

“He was like a brother. It was beyond friendship for us, it’s really difficult to explain. The type of relationship we had, you only get that once in a lifetime. He was like a brother/ father figure to me. He was very protective. We took care of each other, we took really good care of each other… the best that we could.”

In the 2003 documentary, Tupac Resurrection, the slain rapper can also be seen speaking fondly of Jada.

“Jada is my heart. She will be my friend my whole life,” he says.

Seeing the two of them discuss their strong bond is certainly enough to make you a little misty eyed.
