Shaunie O’Neal Claims That She’s Done Letting Tami And Evelyn Run ‘Basketball Wives’

In the past, Basketball Wives has been a product that practically sold itself. Though executive producer Shaunie O’Neal was also a part of the cast, she didn’t have to do much–with the exception of her occasional pot-stirring and instigating antics, of course. Nor did she have to give up much about her personal life because cast members like Tami Roman and Evelyn Lozada were like open books, offering addicted viewers plenty of entertainment. Naturally, this made them two of the show’s more dominate characters. That’s all about to change though, at least according to Shaunie it is. During a recent interview with Hello Beautiful, the 38-year-old entrepreneur confessed that she’s ready to show the “real” her and part of that means no longer taking the backseat to Tami and Ev.

I just feel like, at this point, I probably just didn’t speak up enough. Previous seasons, I kind of sat back and was like whatever, ya know, I’m here and I’m doing my job. Evelyn and Tami have a such a strong personality that it’s very easy to sit back and just let them go and not really have much to say.

The mother of five went on to address the rift-causing comment that she made about co-star Tami Roman and her short fuse to Tasha Marbury.

“I really don’t see and didn’t see it as negative, but I could understand where she was coming from. I think it comes in a place where she’s defensive about her past. I think anything said is kind of a touchy thing with her. Maybe it was negative in someone’s eyes, but I don’t feel that way. I still stand by what I said. At the end of the day it didn’t make a negative impression, so why the hell was it an issue at all?”

Interestingly, she also had something to say about fans referring to the current season as boring.

“I think everyone has something to say [about the show] regardless. If it’s too dramatic, they have something to say. If it’s not dramatic enough, they have something to say and I realize that.”

Would you like to see more participation from Shaunie this season?

Shaunie and her Basketball wives mess just needs to go away. We already know who Shaunie is and we don’t want anymore. Did they think that the national protest started by Black women against the show was some kind of joke. No. We don’t want to see her nor her dysfunctional, money grubbing cast mates. They bring nothing of value to television and we’ve moved on.

I am sick of Va’Shaundya antics. She has trifling ways. The cast of her show sits and wait and hang on every word so they can argue and fight about it. With a Ghetto name of
    Va’Shaundya what do you expect.

Shaunie and Evelyn are both phony and the comment they made to Tasha Marbury about Tammy was wrong. They didn’t think it was a big deal but it was. And Tammy should have addressed it. I agree with a lot of the comments I read below and I am going to stop watching. Show has played out and they are just trying to find relevant now. On top of making some money. Not mad at them for wanting to make money but know when to bow out gracefully.

It would be nice if madam noire would STOP writing articles about these shows. It’s like giving attention to the little kid acting out. If you ignore them they just might change their behavior. In this case… maybe the show would go off the air if folks stop watching and gossiping about the show.

Shaunie need to quit while she is ahead. That is the quickest way that she can get cussed out now. Too late, she should have done that previous season. Instead, she let this foolishness get out of hand. She is so busy sitting back laughing and getting paid. Please. Shaunie please sit down somewhere. People please stop watching this foolishness.

With the exception of Tasha Marbury, the cast members are not likeable. Tasha is new to the show and the only reason I stop while flipping through the channels is to see what she has to say or is doing at that particular time. I would say the show is not interesting more so than any thing else. Yeah, I think the biggest problem with this season is not boredom but likeability.

Shaunie is telling us things we already know…It’s way too painfully obvious that you were tired of being the background girl and that this season, you decided to stop being so vanilla. we already know tami and ev have strong personalities that overshadow you. we. already. know.

I never seen a single episode but people use to only talk about Evelyn and Tami, so she needs them to give that show life.

I would like to SEE this stupid mess off the air…what is it even showing us at this point. This AINT the life of a basketball wife, so what was EVER the point of this show….I dont know HOW MANY MORE seasons they can show women going out to lunch and having drinks. Im TIRED..I honestly STOPPED WATCHING after the VIOLENT last season with Keisha i was DONE! They “cleaned it up” but these chickens just want to STAY ON TV DOING ANYTHING, I dont see anything relevant they have to tell a public. They are clowns, and thats the only reason people watched, now that they not jumping up and down they need to cancel it. Sorry they bought they audience/ratings with FILTH and now want to take that away? WHOS GOING TO WATCH NOW WHEN ALL THE PEOPLE THAT WATCHED ANYWAY WATCHED FOR FIGHTING??
