Where’s The Fun In Forever? Celebrity Rebound “Relationships” That Didn’t Last Long
I think we can all admit to having dated someone even though we knew they’d only be a rebound boo. And some of us have been the unsuspecting rebound boo. While one person’s intentions are usually to just have fun, the other might be looking for more. It definitely happens every day, and it also happens in front of the cameras for celebrities. Here are nine celebrities who were involved in public rebound relationships. Or better yet, flings.
Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper
They were a good looking duo weren’t they? But let’s keep it real, Cooper was truly just a fabulous rebound boo. Their “relationship” started after Saldana exited her engagement from fellow actor Keith Britton who she had been with for a whopping 11 years. They were engaged in 2010, but never made it down the aisle, parting ways in 2011. That same year, she started her on-again, off-again boo-ship with Cooper. They broke up soon after but got back together and made it work until late 2012. Surprisingly, what many considered a fling with artist Marco Perego turned into a marriage. The two actually wed in London in June after reportedly linking up in May.
Rihanna and Drake
Soon after ending her violent relationship with Chris Brown after that domestic violence incident in February 2009, just a few months later, Ri Ri was canoodling with Drake. They pretended they were just friends, and Rihanna went on to date baller Matt Barnes for a while, but she always eventually ended calling him for some “fun.” Fancy dinner. Canoodling in the club. Bowling. Rich people s**t. They haven’t had a relationship of sorts, but more of a fun fling. Initially, he was “troubled” by being her rebound guy (see his song “Fireworks”) but now…he knows what the deal is.
Amber Rose and Reggie Bush
Soon after her relationship with Kanye West came to an end, Amber Rose was looking for love in all the wrong places. While she later made claims that Kim Kardashian cheated on Reggie Bush with Kanye while they were together, she didn’t make all that known when she told Wendy Williams in 2011 that she and Reggie were each others’ rebounds. They comforted each other and were seen getting really close in the club. But we all know that fling was gone in 60 seconds…
Ciara and Amare Stoudemire
She was his rebound boo this time around. Amare Stoudemire and Alexis Welch dated on and off for 10 whole years, and before they finally tied the knot, they had already brought three children in the world. But after their last off-again moment, he decided to see the “Goodies” singer. Ciara confirmed that she had started dating the New York Knick in May of 2011. They were a tall, cute couple, and of course, they went everywhere together while they could. But by June (yes, the NEXT month), he was back with his lady Alexis and had popped the question. Yeah…I’ll let you marinate on that.
Mark Anthony and …
Sometimes people just need time to heal. And other people just like to jump from boo to boo. For that reason alone, you would have thought Mark Anthony and J.Lo would have been perfect for each other since they had that in common. But when they split in 2011, she went and found love with a guy everyone assumed was a fling (Casper Smart), and Anthony dated a few women, including model Shannon de Lima, and Chloe Green. The only reason we consider them rebounds is because Marc was so out in the open with both ladies, especially de Lima, who he hugged up with in numerous social media photos as if to ask, “Are you jealous yet, Jennifer?” And you know she wasn’t. J. Lo has been too busy with her boy-toy to worry about this guy…
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries
After we all thought she was going to walk down the aisle with Reggie Bush, Kim Kardashian started dating low-key Brooklyn Nets baller Kris Humphries in October 2012 after going from being back on and off with Reggie. Kim had been with Reggie since 2007 and they even broke up briefly in 2009, but they seemed like the real deal. When that didn’t last (they were done in 2010), into the arms of Kris she went, and after dating for some months, he popped the question in May of 2011. But of course, they married in August, and by the end of October, Kim wanted out…
Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn
No offense to Sean Penn, but what woman leaves Ryan Reynolds!? Anywho, after two years of marriage, the couple hit a rough patch and divorced in December 2010. By February of 2011, she was getting cozy with the acing legend, who was in his 50s while she was in her mid-20s. They went to Mexico together, hit up a few events and made nice for the camera, but by June they were both ready to move on to the next. Johansson has picked up the pieces though, and is currently engaged to be married again to French boo Romain Dauriac.
Miley Cyrus and Mike Will Made It
You know the story by know. Miley, 20, and her man Liam Hemsworth, 23, got engaged last year after dating since 2009. Things went hella left once Miley cut her hair off and started twerking for her life, and we found out last week that they were calling off their engagement and also calling it quits in general. Who knew that so quickly they would already be messing with new people? (We all knew it. They’re young and trying to make each other jealous.) Miley is allegedly messing with producer Mike WiLL Made It and Liam is dating Telenovela actress Eiza Gonzalez.
Eva Longoria and Eduardo Cruz
After her tumultuous split from husband Tony Parker in 2011, Eva Longoria started dating Eduardo Cruz, the brother of Academy-Award Winner Penelope Cruz, just a few months after. He was good looking, and Longoria was vocal about her appreciation of him (“…I was very lucky to find Eduardo”). But before long, they had their troubles and became an on-and-off couple, and after a year of dating, she was looking for a new love *in a Jody Watley voice*
