Love & Hip Hop expands

Last week we told you industry whispers have been implying that Ray J and his “friend” R&B singer Teairra Mari were being courted by VH1 to star in a Los Angeles-based Love & Hip Hop spin-off. While Ray and Teairra’s casting has yet to be officially confirmed, insiders claim that Love & Hip Hop visionary Mona Scott-Young is definitely opening up the franchise to LA, as well as New Orleans and Houston.

“Yes we are casting in LA as well as Houston & New Orleans. We are talking to a lot of great prospects and are very excited about the potential cast in all 3 cities. No final decisions have been made on cast or next city,” one source told The YBF.

The expansion has yet to be officially confirmed by Mona or VH1, but the hip hop mogul has been pretty vocal about her desire to open up the franchise to new cities in the past.

“I’m always kind of looking at other cities. In between seasons I’m always looking to see kind of where we should move next,” she said back in April.

One can only imagine all of the new personalities that await in these new cities. As always, we’ll continue to keep you posted as this story develops.

Are there any celebs you’d like to see starring in the new Love & Hip Hop spin-offs?

I love reality TV I’m up for checking it out

  • Really?!

  • cb

    can’t wait for the craziness!

  • Shaela129

She is a representation of everything that’s wrong with greed. These shows are degrading, sadly funny and just ridiculous. I am really saddened to hear this.

  • Honesty

Boo! What artists are in New Orleans and Houston that want to be exposed to this foolery?! Boo! I will NOT watch. Can we please bring back sitcoms so these reality tv shows can stop filling up time spots?!

  • Map

She was quite beautiful and vocals. Always support her.

  • Mycalah

I live in Houston so I am just wondering who lives in Houston that would make for good reality tv? I being serious. Give me a list.

    • Mycalah

I am being serious, forgot my ‘am’

    • sammi_lu

I was thinking the same thing..lol But then you have to remember it doesn’t necessarily have to be a big name ticket I mean look at the ATL cast. We have our share of “local celebrities” too who I’m sure would make for an entertaining group. Jas Prince and Christina Milian came to mind, Bun-B, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, and that fool of a character Riff Raff would be ideal for reality tv.

    • Ms_Sunshine9898

I live in Houston lol, put me on so I can show the world how normal black women handle relationships, and pay off some student loans at the same time!

    • YEP I SAID IT

I am in Houston too! I am glad Slim Thug and Willie D are there…kinda tired of Maliah because she doesn’t dance THAT good! But one of those vixens was cute…but DJ HiC that should have 5000 Watts and Paul Wall or Bun B & their wife should HAVE been on the show…BUT it don’t matter H-TOWN represent!

  • pookiemae

Somebody call MONA and tell her to QUIT! while she is ahead and still has some credibility…She has a few good checks and her name is out there…time to transition now…

  • Michele DaCosta

I agree with Fair and Balanced! She has a way of portraying Black women as ratchet, ignorant, and instigators of fights. Hence, mainstream America, stereotype us as that big mouth, glass throwing, idiots!

    • idgafaboutyouropinion

You forgot to add “table shaking” lol

  • ccpeachgal

more buffoonery and ratchedness on its way !!!

  • Fair and Balanced

Mona is a major pimp in the game of keeping Blacks ignorant and convincing all who watch that this is the way we really are especially as Black women. I do not watch anything she puts out there and the same goes for Shaunie O’Neal.

Noooo!!! Please let New Orleans and Houston stay the way we are. Traffic is already terrible out here in Houston and groupies come out of no where since Howard and beard boy came out here to play for the Rockets.. Please let these 2 cities fall off the map of reality tv. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

i agree ..New Orleans is gonna be too much. first of all they have high crime rates so we dont want anybody getting murked on the show. Houston is a nice city. everything about it is awesome and has a nice balance. we do not want houston to be on the map of ratchetness.
