Woman Breaks Into Her Ex-Boyfriend’s Home And Tries To Kill His 8-Year-Old Son
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, but in the case of a Baltimore woman, “scorned” might just be an understatement.
According to a CBS affiliate in Baltimore, Helen Marie Newsome, 26, broke into the home of her ex-boyfriend while he was away at work, and once inside the home, tried to beat his sleeing 8-year-old son to death with a dumbell of all things.
The man recently broke up with Newsome, and she wasn’t ready to move on. Police say that Newsome hid in a spare bedroom in the home of her ex-boyfriend, and instead of taking out whatever animosity she had due to their recent breakup on him, she waited for her ex to leave so she could harm his son, Jacob. After hiding for 12 hours, Newsome came out of the spare bedroom when the boy’s father went to work on Saturday morning. She went into the boy’s room and tried to smother him with a pillow and beat him with a dumbell weight. But thankfully for him, Jacob knew a little karate and used it to fight Newsome off. As he said in an interview:
“She was smothering me, she was trying to make me not breathe…so I headbutt her and then I beat her up and then she snapped out of it. But then she started hitting me with the dumbbell.”
The young boy, named Jacob, was able to run out of the house and to a neighbor’s home where he received help. As a result of the attack, Jacob required more than 12 staples to close a large cut on his head, but he’s doing pretty good afterwards and is grateful to know his karate skills could come in handy.
As for Newsome, she escaped from the scene by jumping out of the window of her ex-boyfriend’s home. However, police found her at her own home and arrested her. She has been charged with first degree attempted murder. Such a sad situation, but I’m really trying to figure out why this young man was left alone in the home when his father went to work. Eight is a tad bit too young for such a little guy to be looking out for himself. Check out more about the story below from a Baltimore ABC affiliate:
