Tyrese wins legal victory

Last we week told you about the ugly child support dispute that was brewing between 34-year-old R&B singer Tyrese Gibson and his ex-wife Norma Gibson. According to Norma, Ty has been seriously slacking when it comes to carrying out his fatherly duties, so she went to court and petitioned for higher child support payments, insisting that her ex-husband was an absentee father, TMZ reports.

In response to Norma’s filing, Tyrese took to his Twitter and Instagram pages to voice his grievances regarding California family court and child support laws.

“In California, the child custody laws are financially set up to make you a victim of your success. Today was rough. I won’t give up on my daughter and I refuse to walk away,” he expressed.

Although it’s clear that Tyrese had no faith in the California court system, it appears that it came through for him anyway. According to TMZ, the former couple had their day in court last week and a judge ruled in Ty’s favor. Child support payments for their 5-year-old daughter, Shayla, will reportedly remain the same. Court documents reveal that the “Stay with Me” singer used the extravagant 5th birthday bash that he threw for Shayla back in June as ammunition against Norma’s deadbeat daddy claims. Court papers filed on Ty’s behalf also revealed that he currently foots the bill for Shayla’s private school and nanny. He also claimed that he frequently adds to her ever-expanding wardrobe and shells out thousands of dollars around Christmas time.

Well, it looks like that’s settled, for now anyway.

how does him paying more money resolve the issue of him being an absentee father, if he even is one??? i’m glad they told her to take a seat lol. she sounds like a gold-digger using her kid for personal gain. glad he won.

She looks like she will be a singer like her daddy.I’m glad he won, some women need to quit it.If it’s over, it’s over, let it go,dang!Live your life and keep it moving, let the men have time with their children and stop talking to the kids against the fathers YOU chose for them!!!

I’m glad Tyrese was vindicated. If he’s an active part in his daughters life then he shouldn’t be raked over the coals like that.

No thanks
