And just like that, it looks like the Sean Kingston Gang Rape Lawsuit is now over.
TMZ is reporting that Kingston decided to settle the lawsuit with Carissa Capeloto who accused Kingston and his bodyguard of gang rape without getting any more people involved in the situation.
According to sources, Kingston and his team decided to settle out of court, paying just a fraction of the $10 million Capeloto asked for, but not because Kingston is guilty. The singer has an album coming out soon and with all the publicity he’ll doing, the last thing they want is for media to continue asking him about the “Sean Kingston gang rape lawsuit.”
In fact, the same sources say that Kingston believes he would have beat the charges had the case gone to trial. He simply doesn’t have time for a civil trial.
Sean did admit to having sex with the woman back in 2010 but says it was consensual. He beat criminal charges for the alleged rape three years ago as well.
Well, perhaps this works for all involved parties. Sean doesn’t have to deal with this anymore (except that the media is going to ask him about it time and time again) and the young woman gets some money for all the trouble she says she’s been having.
While I’ve heard good things about Kingston’s latest project, one has to wonder if settling a rape charge will hurt what little visibility he will receive.
What are your thoughts? Do you think it was a wise idea to settle the case? Do you think it is an admission of guilt?
