So Russell Simmons Is Developing A New Harriet Tubman Story And Fredrick Douglass Mini-Series?
Since last week, Russell Simmons has tried to get on everyone’s good side after his comedy channel All Def Digital released that Harriet Tubman Sex Tape. In said “sex tape,” Tubman devises a plan to have sexual relations with her slave owner in order to blackmail him so that the Underground Railroad can function without any problems. Simmons and his team thought it was hilarious and others, not so much, especially Harriet Tubman’s family members. Simmons apologized for creating the video, and surprisingly the great-great grandnieces of Harriet Tubman, Rita and Geraldine Daniels, accepted his apology. Now word is Russell Simmons has decided to create another video that will depict Harriet Tubman’s values the correct way.
On Saturday, Russell Simmons tweeted:
Rita Daniels responded:
Although the Daniels sisters have kissed and made up with Russel Simmons, those on Twitter let Simmons know he is still not off the hook. Regardless of what others may say or think Russell Simmons has his eye on another historical African-American figure.
Finding out this information has led Simmons to mention he is inspired to create a miniseries based on the life of Fredrick Douglass. According to Shadow And Act, although Russell Simmons seems to be excited about producing videos of Harriet Tubman and Fredrick Douglass’s lives, nothing is set in stone yet. Plus do we even trust him with these historic figures anymore?
