I knew when Oprah announced that she was going to sit down with the 27 year old Lindsay Lohan, I was anxious to see not only what she was going to reveal but also how she was going to come across on camera. As we’ve seen these Oprah interviews can seem like a waste of time, if the celebrities aren’t honest (The Kardashians) and pretty awesome if they decide to be honest, (Whitney Houston). Turns out the Lindsay Lohan Oprah interview was shockingly honest. And Lindsay took full responsibility for the course her life has taken thus far. In case you missed it, here are the highlights below and then the entire thing on the next page.

Oprah: What’s different about this time?

“I don’t think in the past, I’ve ever fully surrendered to the fact that I just need to shut up and listen. In this case, I wasn’t fighting at all. I just let go and was able to just be like  ‘you probably do know what’s best because my idea of doing what’s best has not worked for me in the past.’ I came into it just really willing, really craving more spirituality, really open and ready to get really honest.

Would you say you were in denial before?

A little bit. Definitely in the beginning. Absolutely. And the fear of not being able to ‘well, that means I can’t go out and have a drink with my friends ever again?!’ And it’s not about that. All I can do is live in each moment

What did you learn about yourself this time that you did not know before?

I think just learning how to ground myself and to know that I don’t need to go to outside things or outside places or substances to feel anything. It’s all here.

Are you an addict?

Yeah

What is it you are addicted to?

Alcohol. That in the past was a gateway to other things for me. I tried coke with alcohol. I’d never done those things without it.

Then I read that you said you really hadn’t done coke more than 3-4 times.

I really haven’t done it more than 10-15 times. Of course I said 3 or 4, I was terrified of being judged. I’ve done it 10-15 times.

Do you enjoy doing it?

No. It never felt good the next day.

So why do you do it?

Because it allowed me to drink more. It went hand in hand with drinking.

And partying.

Yeah.

Are you now ready, at this time in your life, to heal whatever it is that’s kept you from being who you need to be.

That’s what I’ve been doing for the past few months. And it’s a process and I continue to do it everyday. A lot of stuff went on when I was young, with my family. I grew up in a very chaotic home. There were moments of everything just being wonderful and perfect and then things being so uncontrollable and chaotic that it’s something that people go through and unfortunately I waited too long to face it.

She also spoke about her parents and whether or not she feels like they exploited her.
