Pass Or Play: Toni Braxton & Babyface Back On The Scene With “Hurt You”

August 18, 2013  |

Well, Toni Braxton fought through her retirement thoughts and is back with a duet with her good friend, Babyface.

“Hurt You” is the first single from their new album, Love, Marriage, Divorce, and it gives you just about everything you need from these two R&B giants. It falls right in line with how many people in relationships feel when they’re the cause of it coming to an end. Oh, you know how it goes: you say or do something that can’t be taken back, realize how bad it stung your significant other and basically you have some serious apologizing to do.

The single is not about Toni hitting those major high notes. Instead, it almost sounds like a reintroduction of her voice to the listeners. It hasn’t been confirmed yet, but “Hurt You” was likely produced by Babyface and written by he and Braxton.

While older artists (older meaning when they first came out, not their age) tend to have a hard time getting their music played on even adult contemporary radio stations these days, “Hurt You” is extremely radio friendly and it looks like both Toni and Face should prepare themselves for hearing their new work on the air soon.

Check it out and let us know what you think…Pass or play?

FINALLY!!!! Toni Braxton should have ironed out her differences with BabyFace a long time ago, and she would have had more than one good song per cd. PLAY!!!

I’m like Tamar — What da heck took soooo long? These two were meant to be together. A perfect pairing as far as I’m concerned.

I grew up with them on the radio. I’m so glad they’re making a comeback with real music and real singing about real life. If Uncle Charlie can do it, so can they. To me it’s about quality and this song is definitely that- can’t wait for the album to drop!
