In case you ladies were in need of some celeb drama to get you through the rest of the work day, I’ve got just the thing for ya!
So a couple of months ago R.Kelly jumped on the remix of Kelly Rowland’s highly publicized “Dirty Laundry” track. Only, ironically, homeboy did everything but air out his dirty laundry. He addressed his haters and his copycats, but that was about it. 90’s R&B singer Sparkle and Robert’s former protégé, however, recently dropped her own remix to the track and she had a lot to say about her former mentor’s sex tape scandal. You see, the minor who appeared in the tape with the man alleged to be Kelly was actually Sparkle’s 14-year-old niece, which is why the 38-year-old singer had to appear in court as a key witness.
“I regret the day I put my family in my business / A tape, a trial, and guess who’s a star witness,” she sings.
“My story cuts a little bit deeper / Around the time Sparkle was coming through your speakers
A year before just [brought] up Aaliyah / And at the time no other label could see us
That’s the time when s–t went wrong / And that’s the reason why I’m remixing this song,” another verse reads.
There are also quite a few Wendy Williams soundbites and references in the song. Back when the trial was happening, Wendy made a report implying that Sparkle was paid under the table by her former mentor to keep quiet about the scandal.
