If you follow Maxwell on Instagram, you know that there are three things the delicious singer’s followers love to ask him about: When he’s going to put out a new album, why he’s so fine, and…oh yeah, why the women that are often all over his Instagram photos aren’t black. The singer seems to do a lot of traveling a lot of the time, and during his travels, he runs around with a lot of colorful characters, taping short videos, taking fun pictures, and cheesing it up with the ladies. To the chagrin of a few, many of these women are leggy European beauties, and after Maxwell posted a few too many pictures of these ladies in a row (including the one below), some decided to try and question him. And in all honesty, people have made some negative comments about the women he shows on his page in the past, though he says they’re friends. A few people took it too far, I guess, and he finally blew.

Maxwell

A few of the comments included the following:

“Here we go again with the white girls SMH Let’s see some Beautiful African Women”

“Ewww where are the beautiful sisters”

“No hate, but there is a lack of diversity and they are sooooooo skinny. #neverleaveoutyourcorefanbase”

“I’ve been Swallowed that pill.. For a about a month now you will not see him with NO women of color and this girl has her legs wide open?? Oh well to each his own SMH”
Seeing the barrage of negative comments about his alleged friends, Max put some folks in their place (excuse the social media spelling errors to come), including one negative Nancy he said this to: “you’re using me to get a look, get a skill get a man and find a life!”

“sick if som of you chiming in on my friends and Insulting them with racists comments you know nothing you assume everything and you should know better and worship is for GOD not me so sit down”

“I don’t give a f**k I’m putting ever[sic] type a girl in my Instagram go f**k yourself if you’re a racists[sic] a**hole!!!!”

In the end, a majority of his followers defended him and reminded folks that he can date, be friends with and take pictures of whomever he so pleases. And last night when posting pictures, the singer dubbed it “non-racist day” saying, “happy non-racist day love everybody” and “happy love everybody day” using hashtags, #happyloveeverybodyday and #noracismallowed.

So yes folks, things got real. But as he said, folks should stop assuming things based on every photo he puts up. Shoot, as long as he hurries up and puts out new music, I don’t care what or who he might be doing at this point…

Black women stop begging black men for validation. If you feel sighted from them you can simply not buy it. Why ask him to post black women on his page. Stop looking to black men for validation.

  • tania

welllllllllllllllllllll seems like he was writing those love songs to white women lol! I never seen him date a black woman, as a matter of fact, he fell off the wagon because a leggy parisian girl dumped him for a white guy lol. i bet you if black women stopped buying his music, he would dig up some black chick to date.
all in he is not even cute. but what do I know, I started dating white men because of black men never dating their own and now im married.

  • besides

wonder how many times he has been judged, not only for his music for per his personal life. things can get tiring after a while. i don’t blame him. when you are out you are going to hang around happy positive people to have the best possible time ever and if it involves taking pictures, who cares. he is not standing next to them in his tuxedo and them in a wedding gown. take it easy guys.

  • taz

This is funny because years ago in rap videos it was: they are degrading black woman and there shouldnt be video girls.now its: where are the black girls in the videos…blah, blah, blah.
Now its going on in instagram ?

    church says AMEN.

    Black women are STRAIGHT HYPOCRITES

  • Tony Williams

Funny the same black women dawging Maxwell and the same women on the George Lucas new baby with his black wife page are saying congrats to them. HYPOCRITES.

  • Tianni

People are actually following Maxwell? I mean I like his music too but DAMN! What has he done lately? I sure could care less who his friends look like & who he is posting pictures of & who he is with. At the end of the day he is still a product of “Hollywood”. Remember that as well.

  • scandalous7

lol anyways, im done being mad about no one paying attention to us or “showing us love”, or “finding us attractive”(especially our own)…like what are we going to do complain forever?, im trying to love my self the way I am, natural hair, dark skin and all …things like this should seriously be ignored by all black women. We need to just keep it moving because it is what it is. Focus on yourself, eat right , exercise, get good sleep, take care of yourself and be happy. Lets not focus on this type of stuff anymore please, i know its hard but it has to be done. What is complaining going to do? I know its a damn shame our own men seem to not care about us (or the media keeps on perpetuating that notion), but we as black women cant do nothing but keep it movin. Let go and let GOD!

None of the comments posted above in Maxwell’s instagram were attacks. I am offended he would stoop to calling the comments racists, when all his sisters of color were asking for is a little respect, love, attention, and/or support. Black women need to stop supporting these black men whom can not stand the sight of the color of their own skin on a woman. Stop buying his music, purchasing concert tickets, and voting for his music to appear on countdowns or receive awards. Allow the people he supports to support him, Black women have enough people ostracizing them and don’t need that from their own fathers, brothers, uncles, cousins, or reflections.

PS. Ladies, Start a personal movement of demanding respect. There are other artists, actors, athletes, and public figures whom have shunned their own kind and made bold public statements they do not like black women or dark skinned women. STOP SUPPORTING THEM. Don’t watch their shows, buy their apparel…nothing. Remember they are rich because of you. Put your money where YOU are respected and cherished

Maxwell can do what ever, when ever, where ever as long as he keeps makin’ that sweet, soulful music. People are so silly sometimes, keep doin you Maxwell, life’ too short to worry about narrow-minded folks aka haters. His parents created a beautiful, talented man that carries black & white genes, so why can’t he be attracted to someone in his own likeness? Black is beautiful, but so is every other race and ethnicity GOD created. Leave my Maxwell ALONE!

    • Concerned Reader

You are brainwashed and weak. You are part of the reason people treat black women like crap.

If another male did anything like that, their race of women wouldn’t even complain like the women on here. They would say nothing, stop supporting the male and he would return to oblivion.

It is clear from the internet that something is seriously wrong with some black women exactly like you. They desire acceptance so much, they don’t mind being used as a doormat.

What sweet, soulful music? Name some.

Maxwell doesn’t care about you. Maxwell doesn’t care about you. He would read your comment with derision.

Has your brain atrophied that much?

      • Odin__1

No you are the reason people treat blk women like crap (right fully in your case). Why would you respond in such a disrespectful way when that woman has said nothing rude to you?

        • Concerned Reader

I keep having to repeat myself. I do not share the low IQ of you and your friends (“right fully”????). I do not accept lies just because some idiot writes it. You and I know that the media and certain black men and white women with inferiority complexes treat black women terribly for nothing to do with what I wrote. Do I need to post some comments from people of other races who have noticed this despicable behaviour? Do you think that I’m going to back down because you make up something miserably inadequate to TRY to make me look bad?
I responded like that because black women like her can’t understand when someone is trying to tell them nicely that they are brainwashed.
Learn reading comprehension, by the way.

          • Odin__1

Hold it hoe, WTF did I “make up”. You should get your comprehension skills up or get of the pipe and stop imagining things that I said. I was simply wondering why were you such a B1TCH in you response. WTF would NOT treat you terribly?

            • Concerned Reader

“Hoe”? How did your mother get into this conversation?
There you go again proving your low IQ. Let me break it down for your puny brain: You just made this up: “I am the reason people treat black women like crap.”
              Do you understand, little boy?
People were treating black women badly long before I came along, idiot. You made that miserably poor “reason” up, just to try to make me look bad. awww.
              “get OF the pipe”???????
Awww, you learned a new word from me? “Comprehension”?
There you go again introducing your mother into the conversation; why is she a B1TCH? Poor boy.
              Who treats you well?

              • Odin__1

Yes I am young b1thch but its clear you are the child here. What, you trying to bring my mom and girl into this is suppose to make me act irate? Pathetic creature. B1tch please you are to old to try those kid tricks. And yes its blk women like you who seem to want to harass, insult and intimidate people who don’t subscribe to your BS MO or who disagree with you. Gee I wonder where does the stereotype of blk women having attitudes come from? And I don’t have to try to hard to make you look bad you are doing a great job of that yourself b1tch

                • Concerned Reader

I’m “the child”? How long did it take you to dust off that dictionary and thesaurus? You mentioned “hoe” and “b h”. You are obviously talking about girls you know intimately, your mother and girl. I didn’t bring your mother and girl into this – you did. Don’t hurt yourself trying to figure that out.
Please, I do not want to know any of the perverted “tricks” your mother and girl play on each other; stop embarrassing them on the net.
I insult you because you are an idiot, who feels angry about his SHORTCOMINGS, and thus has to come online to try to make the “weaker” sex feel bad, just so you can feel better about your pathetic little self.
“Harass, insult and intimidate”? Do you mean like Amanda Bynes? Oh yea, that’s right!
“The stereotype of blk women having attitudes?” Do you mean like this uneducated little boy called Max in this story? Or Kanye West? Oh yea, that’s right!
You seem to not understand something. I do not share a low IQ like you, your family, or friends. Quoting, some false, pathetic “stereotype” for the brainless public to me, isn’t going to make me feel all afraid and think you’re right. I USE my brain, unlike you.
TRY THAT AND COME BETTER, little boy.

                • Concerned Reader

Think you are talking about someone else? You ARE talking about your mother and girl, dumb f. You don’t know me. I can’t be a “hoe” because you want me to be. It is obvious that you are so close to one she is on your mind!
If you didn’t have shortcomings, you would not be on the internet trying to disparage black women like a pathetic little child. It is OBVIOUS you are angry about that. A man who is satisfied with himself would never do anything so insecure. Don’t you see it? Ask any Asian man and he would tell you that you’re weak and feminine.
Logical? LOL! YOU have not said anything that is logical, jackass!
Ohhhh, did the poor baby think he found a mistake? I put it in quotation marks because that’s what black men THINK of black women when it’s the other way around! Do you feel good about yourself? LOL! I purposely did not call out all of your mistakes and they are so many, it’s embarrassing!
Go on, keep talking about your pathetic little girl… keep telling the world that she is a b h. You are NO match for me, you uneducated, insecure, sexist-racist, slave-minded piece of filth!

                  • Odin__1

You can defect that BS all you want I am addressing you. I am “disparaging black women”? B1tch you are the one calling blk woman that don’t fallow your BS MO “brain washed” and “weak”. And no hoe I don’t need to ask no other races of men to validate my man hood. I’ll leave that low class behavior for you to do. I am glad to see that there are blk women that don’t subscribe to this BS MO that you are on of ridiculing blk men.

                    • Concerned Reader

YOU ARE ADDRESSING A HOE AND A B H. I am neither. You know nothing of my garden skills, (yea, run for your dictionary!) I do not accept words from the ghetto dictionary, and your mother is the dog! I am a human being, it’s time you accept that you’re not in your usual conversations with dogs!
I was speaking SPECIFICALLY about some black women who need to change. Not ALL. I am not like you silly black males who always say ALL black women wear weave…… and the other, false, pathetic little things you make up to cover your complexes. I was calling for a change, so that the majority of black women could be better off.
You missed my point: Other races of men are saying that black men are WEAK because of how you complain like little girls about black women wearing weave and nails! LOL! You are idiots to the educated world.
“Low class” is using words and phrases from the ghetto dictionary – oh, that’s right – YOU do that.
Thanks for proving my point! Black men LOVE to tear down all black women but they can’t take it, especially when the things I say are TRUE! You are glad? You mean you are WEAK and you can’t take what you are dishing out.

                    • Odin__1

ha what complete BS. Now im talking in absolutes huh SMH. Funny enough as much as you seem to hate blk men and likely not to be with one, yet will have a problem with blk men who choosenot to be with a blk woman, hypocritical b1tch. And you can miss me with all of those shaming tactics you are trying to label me with. Bitter, lying blk women like you….max knows this too obviously

                    • Concerned Reader

Learn some new words instead of the ones you kept hearing to brainwash stupid fools like you: “bitter”

Tell me, what does that mean?
                      What did I lie about?
And “leaven”? LOL. Dust off that dictionary some more – uneducated, little black boy.
Did you read Max’s post? Or did you get your brainless friend helping you with these responses to read it to you? MAX DOESN’T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING! He is uneducated, like you.

                    • Concerned Reader

                      1) You are a black boy.
                      2) Where did I say I hate black men? Learn some reading comprehension.
                      3) Did your uneducated friend pull all those words out of your dictionary for you or did you? PROVE THAT I AM ANY OF THEM!
                      Idiot.

                    • Odin__1

                      1. Im a man
                      2.

                  • Odin__1

BTW Racist? B1tch please you are the one with the hang-ups about IR dating so swerve with that crap.

                    • Concerned Reader

Really? I have problems with interracial dating? Oh where did I say or imply that? Poor dumb boy, that’s just your lack of reading comprehension skills!
Stop bringing your ghetto phrases into this conversation please, you are NOT talking to one of your close friends or family members, dunderhead.

            • Concerned Reader

Your mother or significant other is the b h. Stop trying, and failing to make me appear to be what I’m not.

I wasn’t being rude, I was merely fighting back, and
you have not seen anything yet.

If you can’t stand the heat (which none of you poor black boys et al can, I’ve studied you for YEARS) – GET THE F OUT OF THE KITCHEN and stop airing your insecurities and inferiority complexes on the internet!

I’ll say it plain. Forget the political correct BS. I’m not checking for no dude who has no interest in females who look like me period. You do you Maxwell. The feelings are mutual. And that’s how I see every black man whose only interested in white hispanic or white chicks. Just as I am sure any black man who finds out a black women is only into white men- he’s not checking for her either. No hard feelings about it. It just is what it is. I won’t be buying any of his new music – thats for bleepin’ sure. Somethings weird about a dude who makes a living on neo-soul music clearly catered to people of color- music who prefers white girls. Its like running into that Muslim natural brother with the dreads down his back and refusing to eat pork but has a white wife. Its just ridiculously “bass ackwards”.

  • Crazy BS as usual

The only thing I’m really baffled about is how some of his “fans” think being disrespectful to his friends is justified in getting black women on his instagram. Because what? His friends are white? How is this ANY different from a white person picking on a black person because of the color of their skin? This is completely stupid and hypocritical. I can’t help but feel bad for Maxwell and I’m not even a fan of his.

Anyone would be overly defensive over their friends. Especially when your so called “fans” are attacking them based solely on their skin color and are “suppose” to be supporting you. But I guess when people make you famous they feel the need to dictate everything you do 24/7. It’s silly to assume all of these things about a celebrity when you don’t know them personally. It’s his choice to have the friends he has NOT yours. YOU HAVE NO SAY IN HIS PERSONAL LIFE. No matter how BIG you make a person you do not have any right to say what he should or shouldn’t add into his life.
Honestly, if you’re still mad that he doesn’t have any black females in his instagram then maybe YOU should stop supporting him and buying his CD’s then go and buy his latest CD. Simple really.

I mean if you really want to see black women in the media then get big on your own. Instead of trying to see yourself in the eyes of another man or woman you aren’t even related to. Then your problem about “not being shown” in the media will be solved. Take action instead of waiting for others to do it.

  • Lou

Let the man live. It is not his responsibility to feature or promote Black women on his IG.That’s his IG, his life, his friends. If people don’t like it, they can stop buying his music, if that’s what it is.
I am Black, I really like Maxwell as an artist and I really don’t care about who he dates or hangs out with. He is free to do whatever/whoever he wants!! And nope, we don’t need no man to worship us or prove to the world how beautiful we are. We just are and we can speak for ourselves.

  • Catrina

I don’t care (at all) who Maxwell dates and/or posts pics of. However, if his African American female fans think Maxwell does not “share the love” with women of color, then stop supporting him. Fans make celebrities: stop buying/downloading their products or products they endorse, do not attend their concerts or guest appearances, stop watching their TV shows/movies, stop Facebook friending them, Twitter and Instagram following them and show them who has the power!

  • ajustinmoore

I think I’m more shocked by his inability to spell and his total lack of understanding of what actual racism is, than I am by his choice in “friends.” Now that I know he’s stupid, I’m not interested in his music. Guess I’m funny that way…

  • tina

Some of you make some valid points about where we place our concerns, however this article is about Maxwell and the lack of diversity in the pics he posts online. So the comments are going to be about the fact that black women have supported his butt from the beginning and he should not disrespect us by excluding us.
If it were an article about local and state government the comments would be about those topics.

  • tina

Yes its his right to date, be friends with, socialize with, love, take pics of, any color woman he wants. Now that I know that women my color are not in any of those categories, I will use my right to not support him or his music.

  • Beans

What is it with many gay men having obsessions with white women?

  • NeekNeek

I honestly thought he was gay so…

  • LaHeim

    I didn’t know Maxwell was illiterate…

  • GoGirl23

Your comments are too general to be serious! “a lot of women don’t give a sh*t about an of these real issues but can tell you what trick daddy just tweeted. ” You don’t know “a lot of women” I don’t care how many you know. If someone is supporting an act, they have every right to lodge a concern-it’s fan base! What is important to you may not move others-it’s individualism. I buy Maxell’s music an am outraged @ his comments!!! I don’t follow him on Instagram but fond this article posted on my FB page through another site I follow. I too, am a black wan who is tired of the typical black man who gets money behavior!! We are beautiful and can stand to see more sistas being wifed up. Media makes brothas hate themselves as well. Good luck to this one.

    • bb morgendoffer

Girl I’m so sorry my opinion made you swan dive into your feelings this early in the morning. I wasn’t criticizing anyone, which is why you seem to be the only one that decided to be butt hurt over my general comments. My comments WERE general because they aren’t serious. I already stated I’m not a big Maxwell fan so nothing he does is going to outrage me ever. Even if I was, I realize that he can take a picture of a black woman every day and that’s not going to help me get “wifed up”. Providing measured and appropriate responses instead of deciding to attack someone for an opinion might help. Oh and realizing that no matter how friendly the conversation is, because lots of people have replied to me and expressed differing views but I didn’t feel upset about it because that’s what emotionally stable people do, A HIT DOG WILL HOLLER.
Bye girl, my opinions have good credit, they don’t need a cosigner.

    • Margo Wilkins

If it upsets you that much, then simply stop buying Maxwell’s merchandise. Problem solved.

      • GoGirl23

Girl, shut up. You’re about as literate as the previous. Had you read my post, common sense would’ve kept you scrolling. With a name such as “Margo” one would think that you came from a time when comprehension came with the territory while reading.

  • Nigel NorthStar Singleton

Hey dummies, he never said he didn’t like black women. Stop reaching.

  • Nigel NorthStar Singleton

As I keep reading through these comments, some of ya’ll keep saying “not all.” If it’s not you then why reply? Paul Mooney said it best, “If it don’t apply, let it fly.” Some of ya’ll say “black men aint ish” all the time. You don’t see us about to have a conniption fit over that. And difference does it make for who he has in his pictures? He has every right to put who ever in his pictures. There his pictures. And then some of ya’ll got the never to call this man gay(which is really no surprise). They alway call a black man gay if he dose something they don’t like. You can’t force anyone to do what you like. There is an old saying. “Forced will is a tool of the Devil.” This will probabaly push him further into a white woman’s arms and all ya’ll complaining will be all in vain. Bunch of dummies.

    • Dazed and Mostly Confused

So then why are you commenting…

      • Nigel NorthStar Singleton

Because I can. And I pointing your hypocrisy.

        • Dazed and Mostly Confused

LOL my hypocrisy, nah you got me confused, i never said i agreed or disagreed. i just find it highly ironic that you nit picking about the women on this page who are up in arms but according to you and paul mooney, if it doesnt apply no need for a response so once again why are YOU commenting.

  • Rose_Budd

Why is it as a black women I can’t expect to be RESPECTED. Maxwell is his own man and as his own man he’s going to do what makes him happy, no matter how seemingly superficial; and for that i have no issue. BUT, his blatant disregard for his fans, is appalling, and not because of the lack of color on his page but in how he responded to his fans. It seems our community has committed itself to this idea of black women being the whipping post for all. Black men at large can feel how they want about me and my sistahs but my God is it too much to ask for a little respect of persons. You don’t have to date me to respect me, whats really ironic about the commentary is that the very offense that many sistahs are be charged with are the very same kind of assault/insults we experience day- to-day and not limited to this page. Historians like Dr. Runoku Rashidi, promote preservation of the black community, but as times change it seems more black women or committed to this act of preservation than their counterparts. We as black women have been conditioned for DECADES to be the “back-bone” of the community with little to no reciprocity. Black men are quick to tell us we should date outside our race but in the very next breath tell us we are undesirable. What i’m confused by is how can you as a BLACK man know what another man of a different race does or does’nt want. And if ya’ll not checking for us why go for hours making passionate arguments about whats wrong with us and why nobody wants us. Al ot of our issues are deep rooted unresolved issues from yester-year but this by no means condone belligerence or disrespect. Nevertheless, I happen to love a black man that loves this black woman back, im not his back bone as he isnt mine; rather, we stand side by side as a sign of equality and respect.I say that to say stop looking for love and support from sources that never loved or supported us to begin with. ( honestly how did the number of sistahs in a degrading music video equate to love and support anyways il never know or understand but anywhoo) Some of you brothas arent ” checking” for black women, because you have no respect for us, whether you feel its warranted or not, you lack respect for us and in turn lack respect for the community. Any man that can formulate the words ” I dont date x women because…” has no respect for women PERIOD, because to have respect for women is to understand that there is NO MOLD for women; racially, genetically, or pheno- typically, we are all different and in that difference you will meet women of ALL TYPES ( ratchets included) in ALL races. The only difference is in america the short-comings of the few or polarized by the dominate majority. My brothas!!! Of all the people in america YOU ALL should be the first in the line of empathy in knowing how it feels to have a target constantly on your back by those who don’t know you or understand you and insist on casting you all in the same boat with those who are deemed unsavory. No need for division or disrespect just live and let live Sn I think its absolutely hilarious how black men ( SOME) are quick to defend white women and their love for them to black women but turn a blind eye to the reality that white women DONT have these debates or arguments for black men to white men. IJS

I do! I HATE Liv being the white man’s mistress… I HATE that they didn’t put a younger looking black man as Davis… He just looked like some random dude off the street to play the part. I do like Liv with Jake, not because he’s white, but because he is not married!

  • Nigel NorthStar Singleton

Who cares? Why don’t people go ham like this about Scandal?

  • DJShinobiShaw

He is absolutely right. The women making the comments are making it a racial issue. We want to get upset whenever a white person makes a racist comment we have the same reaction when our people do it as well. I do have several issues here with Maxwell however. This fool types like a 15 Highschool girl. Whats going on there bruh?

  • Tony Williams

I dont know i guess. i was talking more about black women who attack white women but you took it to a new place, but i see your point.

  • Jacqueline Perkiñs

he’s gay,,,,sale out watch your record sale go way down…

    • OhMeSoSassy

      That’s what I heard too!

  • Synthia Rose

I don’t think their comments were racist. Maxwell’s response was over the top and unwarranted. These commenters must have struck a nerve and he doesn’t want to examine his inner truth. I have just unfollowed him. I noticed Shemar Moore after telling Shadow and Act that all black casts weren’t marketable (even though since he claims not to be black so in reality there could be no all black cast), Shemar doesn’t have any women of color in his Baby Girl clothing line pictures. All very disappointing from those men. But I will vote with my wallet and social media.

  • WTFITBS

disappointing that some black women are so insecure about nothing.

    • Wemustdobetter

I’m good. Black men are not a prize.

      • WTFITBS

You’re doing us a favor, thanks!

      • Tony Williams

        Bitter much?

    • Tony Williams

Church bro. I was at the store day . so a pregnant black woman with a latino man i didnt care. brought my food went home.

    • Concerned Reader

It’s disappointing that black males are so uneducated, they can only repeat foolishness they see on the internet instead of finding their brain.

      • WTFITBS

So do every black man a favor by not interacting with us. None of us will miss you. Take care….

        • Concerned Reader

I don’t want to interact with an uneducated, brainless child like you. I don’t care about black males who suffer inferiority complexes missing me. You are miserably inadequate.

          • WTFITBS

You’re just an idiot that probably doesn’t get out much.

            • Concerned Reader

Idiot? Let me help you define “idiot”: A boy (you) who does not know the correct use of “who” and “that”. Do you see how you proved me right? An uneducated black boy.
              Stop embarrassing yourself.

              • WTFITBS

Again, you’re further confirming that you are an idiot. Please do yourself favor and go outside and make some friends. Its obvious you don’t have any. Additionally, you appear to be ignorant and only interested in aggravating people over the internet. I’m 100% you don’t have the heart to say any of this to a black man’s face. You’re truly weak and insignificant.

                • Concerned Reader

Saying something doesn’t make it true. You write that I’m confirming that I’m an idiot, but you have no proof, dunderhead.

No thanks, I never once took advice from an imbecile and I don’t plan to start today.

“Ignorant”? Is that the only word you brainless boys know? awwww

Oh, so is that a threat? Does that make you feel all big with that infinitesimal thing that you carry around? I say what I have to say to anyone who tries to insult me, especially fools like you. Look into the mirror to see who is weak and insignificant.

Would you kindly stop using words that you do not know the meaning of? Invest in a good dictionary. I read your comments and the majority of them try (and fail miserably) to vilify black women.
YOUR intent is to aggravate black women on the internet.
I understand that you’re insecure, so you need to try to put black women down to feel better about your shortcomings, but you have to understand that you’re a FAILURE at it.

  • Diane

Maxwell yesterday look gave the freaky vibe …now his today look gives me that wall street mix fruit drink vibe…I just want the freaky vibe so I don’t ever want to wonder

  • Lady Catacal

I have no idea why people would get angry about this. It’s not that serious.

  • Sandy

Well, being that “worship” is for God and not him, let’s ALL not attend his concerts or purchase his music.
    Get a clue.

So you’re going to stop supporting the guy because he said not worship him? That makes no sense at all.

  • Wemustdobetter

Okay, he’s not worshiping them but he is admiring their white features. Dehydrated groupies come in all colors but yet he choose the white groupies that has never heard of his music.

    • Erica Key

How do you know white people have never heard Maxwell’s music.. you ever heard of what happens when you assume?

  • amir bey

Think that was a little over the top, don’t support folks that don’t support me!

  • MissRealuminatti

It’s his choice to date who ever he wants and black women have a choice to not support artist that do not like us

  • Tony Williams

Just from my little time i have being on this website i have learnt 5 things about black women.
    1. Black women hate strong black men with his own opinions.
    2. Black women hate black men who love white women.
    3. Black women love black women who love white men.
    4. Black women want men who are domesticated and are trained to obey them like dogs.
    5. i dont want to ever date a black woman.

    • Lady Catacal

      Why so hostile?

      • Tony Williams

I aint hostile. i like SOFT women. i grew up not in America. see women from 1st world countries are thought to be equal to men and to be fighters and hate males. and all this rape culture/men are evil crap. women from china. and Africa (the good ones) Asian have morals. they till respect men. Uk, USa women dont.

    • Ms Butterfly

      1. No we don’t. We hate sexist opinions.
      2. We hate black men who love white women exclusively because they hate black women.
      3. Indifferent
      4. Wheretheydothatat??
      5. Allow me to shed a single tear for our collective loss.

      • scsmartie

        LOL!!!

    • badbaby

Good for you bruh. Save them beautiful brown sistahs for me. The more the merrier. I can’t get enough of black women.–A strong black man with his own damn opinions.

      • Tony Williams

Yeah cool. Me i love my Videos games, Football, and Asian women. I can deal with Asian or white women. black women are like trying to train a lion. Mess around and get your head bit clean off.

        • scsmartie

LMAO…..you are crazy!!! I’m a sistah and I’m not even offended, but don’t blast us the way the sistah’s blasted Maxwell. Perhaps you could have said, I have found that me and the sistah’s clash, so I date outside my race. You don’t have to disrespect us.

          • Tony Williams

OMG listen to yourself, “dont blast us the way the black women blasted Maxwell” so not only are you admitting they where wrong for calling out Maxwell, but your also FINALLY over 400,000 years admitting that women are HUGE HYPOCRITES.

    • scsmartie

I respected most of your comments, but totally disagree with these 5 things. I do think some of the comments posted by the sistah’s was much ado about nothing, and some reflected some hate. All I can think of is the book entitled “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.” We all can do better!!!

      • Tony Williams

And guess what you live in America (i think ) we have freedoms and you have every right to disagree with me. but you will never catch me with a black chick.

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/ChakaKhanian?feature=mhee ChakaKhanian

I don’t get it- what’s racist about calling out what’s so obvious- that he Instagrams a ton of white girls? He needs to look up the definition of racism.
I am glad my taste in music/tv has changed for the better because some to these black artists/ actors are starting to really show they don’t care about their fan base’s opinions at all.

  • Sean

Black women need to mind their business by spending your time caring for your children, if he wanted to have blue people in HIS instagram that is his business. If you do not like like then remove yourself and enjoy life.

  • Concerned Reader

I wouldn’t think about asking Maxwell about who he puts on his Instagram with that atrocious grammar and spelling!
Some black women are so weak, backing into a corner when uneducated slaves like Maxwell pull the only few words that he knows out of his bowels. “racists comments”????? L O L!!!!!!

Stop being so damned weak, black females. No one is treating you any better.

Maxwell, get an education. Your “career” is going nowhere. I know nothing of what you do. Learn to spell, learn about capitalisation. Get over your inferiority complex and prevent your brain from atrophying any further.
    Idiot.

  • Nicky

You spelled it wrong dummy…its Amen-Ra.If your going to try to brain wash our race by your empty commentary please take a number your comments are pointless and the fact that you try so hard just proves how dynamic and strong we are. Please people disregard these self hating or racist trolls that plague our blogs we enjoy so much.Thank you

  • Amem-RA

Modern Black women are the worst. Fake hair, fake nails & fake azz might as well get the real thing. White women are the SALTH of the earth.

    • IvyNoLeague

Modern day black men are no better…..so ?

    • Concerned Reader

Modern black men are just as terrible as ancient black men: the least educated of the race, the worst murderers and criminals of all races, and the most likely to abandon their children.
Yet all you can complain about are “fake hair & fake nails”. Who are you talking about anyway? You are a stupid little girl, yes, I said GIRL. Ask a man of another race how stupidly childish and girlish you black males are. Go on.

  • Nicky

Why don’t white artist have these problems? Is it because they truly love and/or respect their own counterparts. Why are we always making excuses or justifying are tolerance or attraction for another race when its not reciprocated. I’m sorry but i’m totally disappointed in some of our sisters and brothers that support that type of mentality esp. Maxwell for commenting so harshly given the state reality which we live in. If it were a white artist they would quickly do some PR work to make sure there core fanbase were not offended by their choices especially when it comes to the only color that matters the GREEN.

    • GovermentChecks

You right on point with this one IDK if the record label got them thinking that most of their dollars are not coming from blacks and they think we expendible as fans but…. I keep telling these idiots the Black Hair industry is a Billion Dollar industry these people in Black Hair Care make way more than any other hair care industry this is Black Women Money you really think our money don’t matter ok dummy and they wonder why their careers keep taking the Yung Berg’s nose dive.

  • HoneySol

Those fans were being rude in the way they were asking him but not as rude as his response. Must have struck one of Maxwell’s nerves. I guess he has nothing in common with black people enough to hang out with them as much as the white women. Of course we’re all going to say to each his own but seriously ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS ARE WHITE? It’s a good question to Mr. Maxwell especially when we support him and love his talents. As an entertainer (person in the spotlight) you have to KNOW HOW to address these things. I guess he doesn’t care about losing those people as fans.

    • driven

He was in Europe. Since when did everyone know who all of his friends are?

  • Pingback: Cee-Lo Reveals Andre 3000 Is Suffering From Stage Fright – vipunderground.com

HE PROBABLY ONLY DATES NON-BLACK WOMEN THIS IS WHY WE ONLY SEE THEM IN HIS PICTURES REGARDLESS TO WHAT HE SAYS AND HE IS A GEMINI AND ALL GEMINI MEN THAT I KNOW PERSONALLY ONLY DATE NON-BLACK WOMEN ALL OF THEM.

    • driven

tupac was a gemini. kendrick lamar is a gemini. stevie wonder is a gemini too. I also have a cousin (who is a gemini) who got married to a Black woman this year. Some of my friends have slept with gemini’s as well. ( i care a lot about astrology as you see)

  • howwedoit

I always laugh at the comment that black people are racist. Reminds me of all the real racist white people who have no clue abt their priviliege, going off on Ebony magazine for posting pictures of families in hoodies. They call this racist. Ha! Maxwell, you have lost a fan with me and believe me I will scream everywhere I go that you obviously have a color issue or some sort of issue with your people, Here’s why. By you calling black people racist, implies your complete lack of knowledge about how racism TRULY works, low blow and disgusting. As much racism that black people have to deal with INSTITUTIONALIZED at that, to pin that word on US…is beyond words. Lost fan indeed.

    • Tony Williams

So let me get this straight. if a white woman attacks a black woman racially. the white women is racist. But if a black woman attacks a white woman racially then some how by the laws of gravity that black woman isnt racist? Ahh its still racist.

      • howwedoit

Hi Tony. Racism presupposes the ability to control a significant segment of the population, economically, politically and socially by imposing law and restrictions on black life. i.e, the recent Voting Rights Act, that a part of was discontinued, which will allow for southern states to use discriminatory practices, Black people can’t do that, can they be prejudice yes, bigoted?, yes. For Maxwell to pin that title on us is Illogical and suggests a form Self Hatred on his part or just Ignorance.

        • Tony Williams

If black people can have the power to self hate and be self racist to other blacks. then we also have the power to be racist to other races. call a white or jew some nazi word like gas chamber baby. but if a black person calls an asian lady a JAP, or hispanic a day laborer or wettback. i am pretty sure they wouldnt like it.

  • Ebony

Well I say who cares! If this bothers you don’t support him anymore. It sure doesn’t bother me. He ain’t paying my bills.

  • Black and I love

Honestly I don’t know who he is because I gave up on modern music a long time ago, but from what I’ve read, he seems to sing a lot for black women and foretime don’t seem to care when it comes to real life, I just think his songs and videos who shows/speaks for black women are probably just made for marketing because the majority of his fans are black and will spend a lot of money in his endeavors.
When it comes to the Instagram dilemma, I don’t think the problem is actually him dating white or black people, it’s just the fact that apparently there are no black women when he actually sings for them, but people, did you honestly think that in our time celebs would actually accept black women, the rappers and R&B singers call for us only when they need money ! All the Beyonce, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj and whatever bleach their damn skin ! The black women they themselves in the entertainment industry don’t even accept their skin tone, how can they become an image for us and show themselves to the world so that we black women can be accepted finally !
Until black women start accepting themselves and RESPECTING themselves we will never be able to evolve and accept ourselves the way God created us and maybe one day we won’t even see these type of things anymore.

    • Black and I love It

Oh and when I say black women I generalise okay :D

  • JD

The fact that some people have a problem with him posting pictures of his non-black friends says quite a bit about their own social circles.

  • Tony Williams

BLAck women are more controlling about men, than alot of men are about women. OMG this is sick. Craziness THANK GOD I AM SINGLE.

    • IvyNoLeague

You’re single because no one is checking for YOU.

      • Tony Williams

OMG OMG your just admitted to that stuff. your just admitted to wanting someone else’s man your a home wrecker.

  • Nikki

His personality seems to have changed OR maybe he was always this way and just had a music persona. Now, he curses people out and just seems a bit off kilter at times. Again, maybe he’s being more open now. I don’t have Instagram so I didn’t see what happened there. However he does post on Facebook and twitter so we get to see some of the pics he posts. I really just want the music.

  • SheSpeaks

I will say that BW are highly tense and sensitive because there has been a rise in racism against us but we can’t jump and assume every time you see a white girl it means its a diss to you …..I reiterate I don’t know what Maxwell said or did I can’t really call him a intra racist because he actually represent mostly black woman in his videos so sometimes we can jump to conclusions. But for the ones that does not like BW for prejudice reason just stop supporting them don’t ask them why they don’t care.

  • Phoenix

I like Maxwell, and nothing can change that. He’s very talented. As to why so many would pass judgement at his “friends” is beyond me. I like his music, not his personal life. The man don’t know me by first name, nor has ever seen me face to face. He did make a point, though. “worship is for GOD not me!” It seems like when singers or anyone in the public eye does something some of their fans don’t like, they have to grovel and apologize for them being human and living their lives. If you’re not his momma, then please take a few seats!

  • SheSpeaks

I really wish BW stop asking people to represent you you shouldn’t have to make people like you. Support those who support you and they might not be the artist with a lot of fans seems like the artist that do appreciate you don’t get much attention *cough Raheem Devaughn, Dwele….. I’m not saying Maxwell should not be friends with WW or he did something wrong but begging merely brings you down a notch we need to stop that shiiii on large scale pass the memo…..We need to do the same thing they are doing they silently and subliminally ignore you so you should silently and subliminal not support them. Put your support where it is appreciated. I love how some of these industry black men are fully aware of racism and exclusion when its against them but when it comes to how they treat black woman all of sudden we making a big deal out of nothing … let a soul singing white boy take over to the point nobody supporting the can’t get any TV time or exposure because its all about non black soul singers and everybody acting like Black Male singer aren’t that good they will get the screw face on quick.

  • folamix

The bottomline is those are HIS friends and he doesn’t need to justify his actions to anyone other than himself. Not even to God because He already knows.

  • UdonNo

ALSO — THIS WHITE WOMEN ARE FUN OUTGOING AND STRESS FREE… WHO DOESNT WANNA BE AROUND PEOPLE LIKE THAT

    • driven

all caps are annoying but i noticed the same thing too. Like put race aside, forget the article. You can’t even hate on these women. I’ve spent some time in Europe and it was a great care free time in my life. Europeans know how to live and it exudes through this photo and these women.

      • Sheila

Oh how lovely Europeans are. Black people kill me. White people got black people singing gospel hymns about how fun and great their countries are.

        • driven

Please…give me a break, sure they are care free with American people of color and celebrities but how do they treat their native sons and daughters of color. Pretty much like we’re treated here (in the USA), tolerated, put up with or just plain ignored.

        • driven

sweety, im not stupid. I know the harsh lives that people of color live across the globe. But i still had a darn good time in Paris.

  • UdonNo

HAS ANYONE EVER CONSIDERED THAT IN EUROPE –HE WILL MAINLY RUN INTO AGGRESSIVE WHITE WOMEN? KEY WORD IS AGGRESSIVE. THERE ARENT MANY SITAZ IN EUROPE THAT RUN IN FANCY CIRCLES. IN BIG CITIES LIKE NY OR LA HE WOULD FIND A BIT MORE.

    • http://twitter.com/ohheyjeannette Jeannette

Take off your capital letters… that comes across as yelling. Thanks.

  • Sheila

I went to a Maxwell concert in Atlanta didn’t see one white women there. That one fan was right on point. I’m sure that’s why he got defensive that ish is true. ..lol..The only white girl there was selling food at the arena.lol

    • Mel

Black folks be killing me..lol..His friends probably don’t speak English since he is in Europe. Next time he should launch a European tour and watch the ticket sales.

  • JewelB

I didn’t know that as fans we owned him. Just because you buy his music doesn’t mean that you control his life, friendships and destiny. When did it become disrespectful to your race to have white friends or friends from any other culture? As someone who is constantly questioned by my own race about my white friends, I too am defensive. You don’t have to justify yourself to anyone especially some hateful old hags that you don’t even know. Hey Maxwell, tell them your friends aren’t white…they’re albinos. That’s what I do because stupid questions deserve stupid answers.

    • driven

i saw ur comment on fb…and i liked it. lol It’s crazy that we really think we can judge our lives by the amount of Blacks in our circle. My mom had the nerve to get mad at me and question why I have white roommates. Does this woman realize I need shelter?

  • shakeses

    how is this even news?

  • Tony Williams

WHY ARE BLACK WOMEN SO insecure? Black men have to seat here and what kerry washington sleeping with white men on scandal, and halle berry with white men. and all this black women .you dont see black men crying about black women with white men. or black women going les- be- honest(lesbian) YO black women chill out. you dont control or own us black men.

    • novaslim

Actually Black men are more likely to marry outside of their race than Black women, and Black men, particularly those of a higher economic class, are likely to pursue white women. But keep using Olivia Pope (a fictional character who is a mistress) and Halle Berry (who has had public relationships with all different races of men) as examples of Black womens’ abandonment of Black men. If that what helps you sleep at night…..

      • Tony Williams

So so so your trying to tell me more and more REGULAR black women arent marring non blackmen. Guess what it is what it is. dating out side of the race is not illegal. point blank its not illegal, black women need to get a grip.

        • Wemustdobetter

Black women are dating out of their race because black men are in jail, dead, thugs, unemployed, living at home with mama or with 8 different baby mamas, or with white women. Ya’ll are no prize.

      • driven

I normally can’t stand you Tony but you’re making a point. you can hold off on the caps-lock though. Novalism, i think he is trying to say that Black women don’t pop off when they see another Black female celeb hanging out, dating, doing whatever with white men. They usually get cheered on and praised for “broadening their horizons”. “trying somethine new” and thinking outside the box. It seems like Max is doing that, so we should give him that freedom….even if it hurts.

        • novaslim

Maxwell has the freedom and the right to kick it with whomever he wishes, but the privilege exhibited in Tony’s comment does not allow him to place this within the context of a much larger social and cultural conversation. Your remarks, as well, presume that the playing field is level and equal across race and gender, which it is not. Black women, historically, have had to contend not only with racism from whites, but also blithe archaic ignorance from the Black men in their lives. It is not unreasonable to expect that a Black woman, who is often the SOLE parent of a Black son, and the backbone of the Black community, would not be a little exhausted by the constant abandonment and dismissiveness of their humanity by Black men. So while the reaction to Maxwell’s pics might be over the top, it comes along with decades of cultural and social baggage. Namaste.

          • driven

Honey you are talking to a Black woman, and as well as you wrote that statement, i understand it all to well. no need for breaking it down. I understand the anger. But i am also able to take myself out of my skin, and see things from an objective point of view, which is why i didn’t jump the gun as soon as i see a pic on instagram and start calling an action to stop supporting him ect ect. I didn’t see that pic as a rejection to me, or getting dismissed. Maxwell has had a plethora of beautiful black females in his videos over the last 15 years, he’s stated in interviews he loves light and dark women, short hair and long hair. Its ok if another woman gets a little shine. Like its not that deep and should not be taken to that level all the time.

            • novaslim

Point taken, honey. But as I said before, I agree that the reaction to his photos was perhaps unwarranted, but this still needs to placed within a certain context and not just viewed as an isolated incident of Black women “acting out” or being insecure. Cheers!

              • driven

                cheers!

    • Wemustdobetter

Scandal is a fictional show. Get over it! Taye Diggs is with a white woman on that show on ABC (can’t remember the name).

  • Yevette Jackson

Social media gives individuals to anonymously make comments about people’s lives. Some individuals want people to live their lives by some list of rules that randomly change like the way the wind blows. Maxwell is an artist living his life and sharing a glimpse of his life with us. We do not determine what he does, who he is with, what he posts. He will not and should not change his behavior because someone who do not have anything better to do than to posts ugly remarks anonymously. Live your life….

  • popcornpatty

He probably likes These women women because they are beautiful unlike the slew of Nene leakes, keyshia Coles, and Fantasia Barrinos typically walking around being ghetto, fat, and ugly.

    • Have a Good One

Who he puts on his personal Instagram is his business. However, there are ignorant, fat and ugly people in every race of people. There are plenty of beautiful black women.

    • driven

I feel sorry for you if you think they are representation of Black women. Travel the world.

  • CKB

If you post something in a public forum, you have to accept the negative with the positive.
If that is what you are willing to show, don’t be surprised that not everyone is going to be all happy kittens about it.

  • lexx

I really LOVE Maxwell and have been a huge fan FOREVER but I do notice he doesnt hang around many black people period not just women…I follow him on IG and thought of unfollowing him because of that. Yes he has the right to be friends with whomever he pleases but the lack of diversity on his page is a little strange or off putting I should say. But…to each is own.

    • lexx

Although I did see a couple pics with Jennifer Williams (token black girl…eh?) lmao

  • Barbara Codner

Black women are constantly seeking some sort of validation from black men. That’s why everything black men do that excludes them often offends them. Black women need to stop looking only to black men for happiness & approval. It’s not a Black man or any man’s responsibility to provide that to them. It’s time for Black women to love the skin they’re in & who they are no matter what. They’re nothing sexier to a man than a woman who is confident & loves who she is.

    • http://halloftheblackdragon.com/ Greg Dragon

Thank you for this. The comments that are policing what the man does on his own Instagram reveals a lot about the commentators. Confident, happy people don’t get offended at things that have nothing to do with them (like who Maxwell’s friends are). Men (not just black) are getting tired of being told by women what we are supposed to be and who we are supposed to be. You can expect many more celebs to lash out as the year goes on.

    • http://twitter.com/ohheyjeannette Jeannette

You telling the truth. A hard pill to swallow but it’s the truth.

  • Vetra

Black women stop supporting women who do not support you in return. Point, blank period, no need to leave negative comments on his page, just stop supporting him. We are tired of our black men taking us for granted and not giving their queens shine. So speak louder by not supporting them.

    • Vetra

Meant to say stop supporting “men” who do not support us!

  • Missfoofoo

Ahh confused black men and their misconceptions between what is “racist” and what is “prejudice.” Black men are the reason for the demise of the black race. Think about it.

    • brooklynarcher

How is that?! Don’t go there…
what we need to do as a community is stop looking at each other like enemies. Where did this hate that black women and men have towards each other come from?! It’s so sad! It’s like we’re not even the same race sometimes

      • jmjg

But she is right. Black men have done this. They know it. That is why they are so angry at Black women. They know we know.

        • http://halloftheblackdragon.com/ Greg Dragon

You have it twisted, black men have been learning to ignore angry black women and embrace level headed women period. You are looking at an enemy who isn’t trying to fight you back. We’ve taken our ball and moved on to a better playground. Your assumption of our anger is merely that, an assumption. We aren’t the ones on Maxwell’s Instagram looking like losers.

The sad thing is that there are many confident, strong black women in our lives but they are rarely the ones putting themselves out there on blog commentary and Instagram. You do your better sisters an injustice with your ignorant and hate-laden commentary.

          • driven

I agree. My point in my other comments is that we look foolish policing and getting angry over an instagram. its pathetic.

          • jmjg

Greg, many of my sisters who are doctors, lawyers, nurses, etc. like me, feel exactly the same way that I do. They are right here on this blog site and others. Black men have learned to ignore their own communities be it black men, women and children. If that makes you proud, so be it. And yet you are here on a female web site. I thought you took your ball and moved on to a better playground. You are weak and no more than a piece of eat with eyes.
            Better

              • Wemustdobetter

diary of a bitter black man. Why are you here around us if you hate black women so much? And don’t try to say you are a female…failed.

                • driven

                  im actually a woman lol

            • http://halloftheblackdragon.com/ Greg Dragon

“Greg, many of my sisters who are doctors, lawyers, nurses, etc. like me, feel exactly the same way that I do.” Yes and like I said, you are the problem not the other half who are the silent majority of good black women who are in our (black men’s) lives. I write as part of my work and I also read, this includes black women’s sites. I offer insight where I feel I can be useful. What you are doing is ad hom trolling. If you are indeed a doctor, lawyer or nurse I would hope that you arent at work doing this.

              • Sheena B

Greg most of the women on here are at work responding to these articles. As a black woman who is married to a great black man, it saddens me to see how many women are not getting it. They know it all and how it’s supposed to be done. I LOVE my black sisters but sometimes I just don’t understand them.

                • Wemustdobetter

You must be ugly and 500 pounds. It’s always the desperate sisters that co-sign with these female bashers. Stop kissing asz.

                  • Sheena B

Troll on… Clearly you have nothing else to do.

                    • Wemustdobetter

stop kissing asz. It’s not a good look.

                    • Sheena B

And what you’re doing is better? Raise your standards. Kissing someone’s behind and agreeing are totally different. Junior college didn’t teach that I see.

                    • Wemustdobetter

No Miss G.E.D. prom queen. I have a college degree and own my own company; which gives me free time. What’s your excuse? I’m hiring for a janitor…interested?

                    • Sheena B

“G.E.D. prom queen”? Just stop. College educated people don’t behave in the manner of which you are nor do they use incorrect grammar as much as you. Janitor? Your mom has cleaning your room down to a science I’m sure.

              • Wemustdobetter

It’s always the unattractive black men that go around and bash black women on the internet. What’s wrong, can’t get a date? Can’t get a female to conversate with you? So, you come to a black female site and go ham? lol

                • Sheena B

“Conversate”? That’s not a word. Your autocorrect failed you and so did your unaccredited public school education.

                  • Wemustdobetter

This is not my thesis paper. I could careless about spelling on a site that’s filled with high school drop outs.

                    • Mrs. Taylor

You dont care about spelling on a site full of high school drop outs but your comments are all over the place… GIRL BYE!

          • pjeffuller

I’ve thought about the issue of “angry black women” for a while now and I’ve encompassed those thoughts with the issue of “violent black men.” How did these two groups come to exist in our community? I started thinking that this learned behavior, these walls, these waves of anger comes from the fact that at some point a black child is taught that they don’t matter, that they aren’t enough and the walls and anger rise as a defense mechanism. Then one morning, during the Essence Festival, Iyanla Vanzant was on the Melissa Harris Perry show and it was like she was reading my mind. She said the exact same thing. She said our young people are told daily that they don’t matter. When a child is told by the first people that are supposed to protect and love them that they don’t matter, they become hardened. When a child is told daily in the media, in everything from images in magazines, music, commercials, movies, etc. that they aren’t worth anything, a person becomes hardened. Little boys run around with guns playing a man’s game and hurting innocent people in order to be feared if they can’t get respect.

We all want to be valued and be considered beautiful and desirable. Black women have been considered less than that for years in the American media. One of the first beautiful black female characters that I cam in contact with in my young television viewing years was Bern Nadette Stanis’ character on Good Times and what do they write her character as? The angry black woman. Go figure. Not that any of us has the right to tell Maxwell how to live his life, but I think some of the angry reactions come from a place of pain. Although, like Alexa said we have to start broadening our horizons. I’ve been approached by white men on numerous occasions. Especially, the ones from Europe.

I want to finish this long post by recommending that you watch Dark Girls which originally aired on the OWN network in May. Very insightful and it may help to understand the feelings of some of the posters.

          • Wemustdobetter

            I’m trying to ignore you

    • Tony Williams

      HUrt female says stuff.

      • Vicki

This site is for women. So why are you here?

        • Tony Williams

Education, and jobs where designed for men. so why are you there?

          • Wemustdobetter

Air was design for human beings, why are you still breathing?

    • Nigel NorthStar Singleton

For years, people say that the backbone of the black community is the black woman. But the backbone of every other race is their man and they are successful. If black women being the backbone of our community was such a great thing, then why our community is so messed up? Don’t play that game, sistah. You’ll lose.

  • Lady31

If we as black women decide to branch out to other races we would not feel so offended when we see black men with other races. I only have an issue with the light skinned dark skinned thing in rap music lately that’s been making a come back. But I date whoever is good to me. So if you want it, come get it and Europeans are more cultured and remember our men are Gods in Europe and Maxwell spent time abroad when he was not recording so this is who he is as a man (shurgs). Let it go keep it moving and date whoever loves and or likes you back. Black women stop limiting yourselves look at Kelly Rowland she dates whoever we should take a page out of the black mans book there are plenty good eligible no black bachelors who actually love black women. They like the dark ones a lot so let it go and try something new.

  • Alexa

Black women PLEASE STOP seeking validation from
Black men ESPECIALLY black male celebrities. Maxwell was right when he said ” and worship is for God not me…” Us black women are truly beautiful and if we can all learn to take proper care of ourselves and conduct ourselves with class there is no reason why we can’t get any man to look at us or want us. Some of us need to stop feeling like we’re not good enough constantly seeking validation from black men. We are not mandated to be with black men and vise versa. If a black man wants to have white women all over his Instagram we shouldn’t even wince! Lol some of you sisters are making us look like we have no self-esteem! We are NOT UNDESIRABLE, meet new people, travel, etc and you’ll start to see that.

    • driven

      thaaank. you.

      • Wemustdobetter

Yes, we need to start dating out of our race

    • Lady31

PREACH!!! its time sisters its time lets try something new and expand our minds.

    • Tony Williams

Its obsession. i am still waiting for the day white women , say their boycotting whitemen for dating asian or black women. guess WHAT IT NEVER HAPPENS.

      • Wemustdobetter

It’s not an epidemic but if it did ever get to that point, you will see their true hate come out

  • Eeeww it’s Helen Lane

His love life is no “real” interest to me, but he better watch out how he treats his fans, who majority happen to be black. I wouldn’t bite the hand that feeds you to some extent..His best option my opinion is too ignore it. He’s a grown man, why do you care what other who happen to not like that you don’t take pics of woman of color..whose to know maybe he don’t have woman of color friends, or they just not willing to take a pic at the moment..or he wants some sort of a private life..so many options…but people do need to get out of the he/she doesn’t like black women/men base off stuff like that…But saying that can we say that sometimes that isn’t the truth..?

  • Ray

black women need to stop trying to bash everyone who DONT want them, but yet, fix whatever it is that makes THEM so un-desirable to men.
A LOT OF BLACK WOMEN ARE NOT THE KIND OF WOMAN A MAN CAN PUT ON HIS ARM AND SHOW TO HIS FAMILY, and yall know it. yall need to stop. Maybe if yall could keep your priorities in order, yall would be able to keep a man of your own…
black chicks are NOTHING but drama- and what’s worst, a LOT of them has NOTHING to bring to the table that is WORTH dealing with em for even 30 seconds of time.

    • Eeeww it’s Helen Lane

stop saying “yall” because then you’re being prejudice indicating that all women are these type of woman that you could not put on his arm which can be any woman of race..your justification of his quite stupid comment that could definitely back fire on him..is also quite ridiculous. He should have done the best thing, and if he had a good enough publicist he/she would have said ignored it. At the end of the day, you’re living your life, and who’s to say he wouldn’t have taken a pic of a woman of color..And for one thing, stop categorizing black woman as if we are the one race that is un-desirable, is that is this..I was raised with better sense than that, was you?

    • brooklynarcher

I’m just curious, are you a black man? If so I’m wondering where you’re getting your statements? Because statistically, black women going to college and graduating at higher rates than black men, black women are also getting more specialized jobs with higher salary than black men, black women also tend to be head of household. I’m not saying this to say we’re better than black men. It’s not a competition and Lord knows i only want what’s best for my brothas. But it amazes me how ya’ll are so quick to say we’re so undesirable, we’re ratchet, we’re this and we’re that. yet the numbers are there and they don’t lie. I think it’s deplorable how a lot of black men speak of their sistas in that manner. How dare you sons of black mothers? How dare you brothers of black sisters? How dare you?!

      • jmjg

You are responding to a piece of meat with eyes.

      • John Adams

and what are black women studying in college? Most come out with useless degrees or a degree that doesn’t just justify money spent.
Degrees in psychology, divinity, sociology, management and African American studies are not doing you people a lot of good.

        • IvyNoLeague

Does it matter what black women are studying ? atleast they’re making attempt to GO to college, College is better than being in someones jail…..like black men.

        • Ms Butterfly

You mean like most white people?

        • Wemustdobetter

Does your mama have a degree?

      • Ray

hey- I did not EVER say that ALL black women were un-desirable.
I sorry, but you CANT deny the stereotype no matter how much you want to- you watched maury before. Im sure you’ve been thru the hood AT LEAST once. im sure you have a FB account, and have come across some of the things they can do/say/post/record.
What I said was BASICALLY stop complaining when black dudes DONT WANT YOU, but yet, fix WHATEVER IT IS that makes them not desire YOU PARTICULARLY, so that they WOUL DESIRE YOU. You think Max is gonna go chase a sista after yall dun came at him for not posing pics with them on HIS social site’s account??? COME ON- I thought AA women were better than that tbh
I NEVER heard a white girl say ANYTHING about a white man dating a black woman ijs.
P.S- I AM a black man, and tbh I woulda LOVED to had married a AA chick- but I couldn’t take the drama no more smh; when I was younger, I NEVER understood why AA men were not committing to the sistas- then I got older……….

    • Mel

Man you not saying nothing that white folks dont say about black men on a daily basis.Yo have you ever been to TMZ ? Well you will find white women and men saying mostly black men are not worth LIVING, ghetto, drug dealers, Nig3rs, bady daddies, don’t take care of their kids, thugs, no education, no job, ex cons, gay and low lifes. But blk men like you trying put your arm around non black women. Get out of here. Let them take you home, while you so happy about bringing them home.

      • Ray

        WOAH-
im Black, 23, got a education, no kids, no record, married.
Unfortunately she not black. TRUST ME, I tried HARD to bring a Black girl home, that was from the hood and as willing to pull out of the struggle with me- but, yes, ill be one of those ones to admit I was too weak to keep fighting that fight for one. I couldn’t take the drama no more man…. the selfishness, the greed, the BLATANT laziness, the litter of kids that’s USUALLY not by the same guy, the MONEY PROBLEMS (this the big one).
Man, we cant even walk down the street in peace while with a AA girl an YOU KNOW IT.
Me: “Babe, I want some time alone”
White Girl: “ok, lt me know when you ready to talk about it; u ok??”
Black Girl: “why, what you do? where you going? You bout to go cheat on me? WHO IS THE B***H?”

right- I realized was on MN when it was too late…lolol
or, maybe because I saw this via MSN when I was reading a finance article, and thought it was quite a topic- and hey, you right- we will all be all-right once the Feds catch all the crack dealers- lol

      • Ray

and besides, I aint never say I didn’t like dealing with AA women, I simply said, A LOT of them has NOTHING to offer in exchange for the typical drama they put men through

        W.O.W- im a… RACIST now???
Im sorry, but for the life I endured as a black man, im quite offended at this statement. ssmmfh go jump in a F****ing cess-pool yo-

    • ohm

You don’t know “a lot of Black women” in any real sense; you only know Black women in your life, your social milieu and your negative, Black self-loathing vibration. Black folk internalize white supremacy too.

  • PleaseDOBetter

This is the mess that happens when people get too wrapped up in celebrities’ lives rather than living their own.

    • driven

people should stop living their lives through social media in the first place. no instagram, twitter, vine, ect ect for me.

      • PleaseDOBetter

Social media (media in general) is only a destructive force when people allow it to be. This is one of those examples. People should do what works for them. If it isn’t working, they need to let it go.

I do understand your point for your life though.

    • jmjg

      So true.

  • Diveta Cranford

If there wasn’t an ouunce of truth to it then he wouldn’t have been so defensive. He can be friends with and post whatever he wants on instagram..I’m not arguing that point. However, a large part of his fan base is black women so I totally understand why some folks were irate. It would be nice if he showed some love back to the black women who support his music. This type of thing only reinforces the stereotype that black women will NEVER be good enough. He should really watch it because the black dollar does have power and if he continues to blast off on people he will feel that in his pocket. Personally I think the brother needs to go back to school because he can’t spell worth a damn and its hard to take someone serious when he’s on a rant but cannot spell out what he’s trying to say. Get yo life Maxwell…for real though.

    • Alexa

      Agreed!

has anybody ever watched any of Maxwell’s music videos over the last 15 years???? ALL BLACK Women!!! A few snowbunnies won’t take away his Black card yall.

    • jmjg

We will all get along when you take you head out of your behind and see the truth and not the lie.

    • Tony Williams

Exactly yes yes sharon, please use the racist word, . BLACK WOMEN REALLY FEEL LIKE WHEN THEY BASH AND ATTACK WHITE WOMEN THEIR NOT BEING RACIST. if a white woman said ” ewwww gross why is robin thicke with that black girl” black women would call her racist and destroy her life. black women ARE THE BIGGEST BULLYS AND HYPOCRITES ON EARTH.

      • driven

dang i hate to agree, but you are pointing out some harsh double standards.

        • Tony Williams

High 5 my friend i see you being liking my comments thanks.

  • CC

Well he is entitled to post whom he wants to posts but honestly that was very distasteful the way he responded. I could care less who he dates or takes pictures of I would like for him to put out another album. His fan base is already falling because of the long stretch so he might want to watch it. IJS

    • Tony Williams

OMG WHAT DO YOU WANT THE MAN TO SAY? its his life his a grown man. he is in his 40′s he is not a boy, HE IS A FREE MAN, BLACK WOMEN SLAVERY IS OVER, YOUR NOT OWED A BLACK MAN. YOU DONT OWN BLACK MEN , HE DOESN’T OWE BLACK WOMEN JACK, BLACK WOMEN DONT OWE HIM JACK. IF YOU BLACK WOMEN DONT LIKE MAXWEL’S WHITE FEMALE FRIENDS ON HIS INSTAGRAM, STOP FOLLOWING HIM. go follow Serena williams she has a white boyfriend, go follow eve she is about to marry a white man, go follow George Lucas he is a billion married to a black woman, go follow halle berry, dating white man. go follow Versus Williams dating white men all her lives. Yes i am passionate about this stuff, you know why, because when ever black men bash black women about dating other men. guess who defense black women ME ME ME . i tell black men ” oh be quite we black men have being doing this for years’ so now when a black man dates white women. black women go nuts. I AM DONE I AM ALL THE WAY DONE.

      • CC

Um Luv, you’re all off into someone else’s post because never did I say he should bow down to black women. It clearly reads:

“Well he is entitled to post whom he wants to post but honestly that was
very distasteful the way he responded. I could care less who he dates or
takes pictures of I would like for him to put out another album. His
fan base is already falling because of the long stretch so he might want
        to watch it.”

Idgaf who he or anybody else dates or posts photos of, he’s not my man so why would I care??? My point was, for the illiterate and belligerent, when you are a celeb, especially a musician, you SHOULD, I repeat SHOULD watch what you say to your fans and how you say it because they are the ones paying your salary. I never stated that he shouldn’t have spoken his mind but cursing people out and name-calling is unprofessional and it could hurt him in the long run. There’s a way to get your point across even as a grown man and that wasn’t it. Nope, take that isht somewhere else, I can’t stand when someone turns my words into something else just for up-votes.

        • Tony Williams

Fair enough. i cant wait for a new Album from Maxwell he is very talented, has a great voice.

          • CC

            Me too

      • CC

And Idgaf about who Halle Berry, Eve or none of the rest of the celeb pool dates, they’re not putting food on my table or a roof over my head so why would I care??? Good for them as long as they’re happy. The professionalism goes for any celeb no matter what race they are. And you were ‘done’ before you started.

      • jmjg

You are a lunatic. Why are you even on a female web site? Go get some therapy as soon as possible because you need help. What Black women do need to realize is that there are many more of you out there. You are unstable and destructive and they need to stay as far away from you as possible. You are so busy trying to set others straight until you fail to realize you truly need help.

  • KareemTaylor

Still waiting on the album tho…

    • driven

Riiight?!? Thats all i care about.

  • IdisagreewithMaxwell

I think he catches a lot of heat because Black musicians already get a lot of flack for not featuring a lot of black women in their videos/photos. So, although he may mean no harm to black women by posting a lot of white women on its Instagram, the BlackMusicianNeverUpliftingBlackWomen epidemic is a prevalent and sensitive topic.

My issue is….you rarely see any White musicians putting up Black women in their videos. For the exception of Mr. Thicke, I seriously barely ever see a black woman as a love interest in White videos. White musicians uplift their own. So it makes me wonder why Black musicians are so thirsty about having white women in their videos—-when White musicians won’t bother with black women.

    • driven

But at the same time, I don’t see max posting pics of white women as thirst. Max, for majority of his career, has always put ethnic black women front and center of his videos, and have been seen with them as well. (dating). He’s ALSO a very cultured and international person (IMO) so it’s no surprise that he is travelling the world encountering women of diff races. Let them man live.

      • Idisagreewithmaxwell

I hear you. BUT. You missed my point. I never said Maxwell was the one that was thirsty or that he didn’t put ethnic black women in forefront. I was explaining that the reason why he caught a lot of heat for this: Black musicians IN GENERAL often feature white women in their videos/photos. And Black women are already saying, “hey, why aren’t you uplifting us, too?”

So even though Maxwell may mean NO harm NO foul by these pictures, some black women will think he’s INTENTIONALLY trying to say he has no love for black women (which is what many black musicians say), but he’s not!

Maxwell is misinterpreting the women’s comments as racist when they’re really just saying, “you know, I’d love to be represented in your Instagram, too. Don’t be like those other musicians, I really am I fan of you.” I wish both sides could see what the root of the problem is here. #psychology.

        • driven

they moderated my response to this…whateves

    • driven

I think it all comes down to “seeking validation”, when we need to validate ourselves. We can’t automatically get butt-hurt at the sight of a Black person hanging out with someone else. That’s not how the world works.

      • jmjg

Oh please. Grow up. The average grown person could care less who someone hangs out with. Some of you are just as silly as the people you are referring to. Grow the F up.

        • driven

          you talking to me? lol

“The average grown person could care less who someone hangs out with.”

Do you see the comments on this post jmjg? The average grown (black female [some] ) person does seem to care since they will go out of their way to not support someone.

Until Max says “i hate black women, they are all [add negative stereotype here]” I will continue to support him and his great r&b music.

          • jmjg

What is there to support? He barely puts out any music. That being said, like he has a right to be with who he wants to be with, folks have a right not to support him. No one is obligated to go to his concerts or purchase his music.

            • driven

              girl bye

    • pcm

Black women stop going to his shows and don’t purchase his music. He doesn’t like or respect us and it’s his right to feel that way. We Black women don’t have put food in his mouth or pay his bills let the White girls pay his way because they seems to be who he cares about. Black women don’t get mad just get smart. He doesn’t like us so move on and shut him out.

      • driven

        wooowwww

      • Lou

        bitterness

    • Tony Williams

This is a lie, i am still waiting for Robin Thicke to put all dark skin black women in his videos, i am still waiting for white country singers to put black women in their videos. 95% of the BLACK WOMEN DARK BROWN SKIN IN MUSIC VIDEOS ARE BLACK MALE RAPPERS, R AND B SINGERS OR ROCK AND ROLL/POP GUYS I AM DONE AM ALL THE WAY DONE. i used to defense black w omen to black men. but clearly black women are just super one sided. i will stop now.

      • howwedoit

        Agree.

      • pjeffuller

Robin did feature a dark skinned woman in his The Sweetest Love video. So, maybe not all of his videos, but he did rep a dark skinned girl in that one.

        • Tony Williams

Fair enough, but thats the other thing that pisses me off when black women and black feminist say stuff like rap music makes black women look bad. but black women never give rappers or r and b singers black directors any credit for paying this women. Hiring black models, hiring black actresses. hiring black stylist or anything, but one white man puts a black woman in his video and its like “omg omg omg omg white men love us” that pisses me off but whatever. black women love their white daddy so i am not shocked. Thats why i am all for rappers putting more white women, latina women in their videos,. at least hire and pay women who will nto bash you 4 mins later. dont bite the hands that feeds you is all am saying. HIP HOP , R And B, has made Black women rich and alot of money. The Producer of the Hit tv show Love and Hip Hop ATL is a black woman. And i am pretty sure is worth over $40 million. So black women next time you want to bash black men rappers and praise white men. Think of the men putting money Millions in your pockets. thats all.

          • pjeffuller

I don’t think that the opinion about degradation of women in videos is exclusively levied at black artists or that the criticism comes exclusively from black women. Robin Thicke as we all know has recently come under fire for the objectification of women in the Blurred Lines video and way back in the 80s Tipper Gore was one of the first people calling out rap and hip hop for misogynistic and violent lyrics. I think in regard to a black woman responding to a white, male artist placing a woman of color in his videos is because it’s not the norm. Black women are still considered beneath other women on the desirability scale when it comes to Western beauty standards. As late as 2011 you had Satoshi Kanazawa with his junk science study in Psychology Today posing the idea that he had empirical evidence that black women are less attractive than women of other races. In regard to black women loving their white daddies apparently you missed all of the backlash that Eternity E Martis received last month for writing a blog post about why she doesn’t sleep with white guys because they sexually objectify her.

    • howwedoit

      Preeech!

  • Mel

Not trying to be funny but Idk If he cares about his fans. He always lying about putting music out. Im sure when the money is low he will be putting out a 7 song album Out. Any way that was not classy Maxwell.

  • phat504

He didnt have to go as hard as he did BUT its HIS instagram account which meant ppl hit the button to follow his life through pics, not dictate what he puts out there… Its a reason these celebs have millions of followers and only follow a few ppl themselves… As far as his infatuation with white women so effin’ what! Let ppl live how they want and for the few who say other races probably dnt recognize who he is or what he does thats most likely untrue just b/c we’re so culturally divided in the u.s. that doesnt mean all countries are the same

    • DeidraJ

I love Maxwell as an artist, but I’m not a fan of him having such an angry dialogue with his fans. I follow Maxwell on Instagram, FB, and Twitter, and I haven’t seen him respond to a positive tweet that is kind or complementary of him unless it comes from a celebrity, so for him to respond to the negativity so quickly is kind of a slap in the face. I’m not saying that he doesn’t respond to his fans but I just haven’t seen it and I’m on social media quite a bit. I still love his music and won’t judge him on this one incident. He may have reacted so strongly because he knows how grounded he is in his love for black women and may have been offended when it was implied that he didn’t have that love for us. We can’t assume what his motivation was.

    • Kristene Crawley

      Exactly!

  • JMO

Hmmm considering instagram is pics of his personal life I don’t get why he HAS to have black women. That’s ridiculous. If it were a video or something to do with his music then I could see appeasing to your fan base. But now you have to have friends according to your fan base. I guess. “Let me hide that I hang with white women because black women love me” psshh

    • http://www.yourtango.com/users/cheekee-baby cheekee baby

Kind of give up that whole “personal life” privilege when you choose to be famous and choose to share your Instagram profile with the world. I mean if he don’t want anybody commenting negatively why doesn’t he make his account private?

Gotta take the good with the bad when it comes to tap dancing for fans.

      • JMO

I guess… If I were him I would say the same thing. His fans don’t own him and dictate who he can be friends with. Ridiculous.

        • Lou

          that’s right!!!

        • http://www.yourtango.com/users/cheekee-baby cheekee baby

Sure don’t; and if he isn’t worried about alienating a large segment of his fan base with his response to their questions then by all means let him eat his cake!

You’re a public personality you get paid on your likeability if you cannot muster up the grace to respond in a respectful way be prepared to be shelved. There’s too many out there younger, hotter, more talented standing in the wings. He can post his ode to white woman and enjoy his “privacy” and new found obscurity. I’m all for it!

  • GKillingbeck

He made an absolute fool of himself. He was WAYYYY too defensive. I think they stepped on his sensitive widdle toes.

    • Kristene Crawley

I think he’s pissed off with some of the comments and people he doesn’t even know thinking they have a right to dictate who he can interact with.

      • GKillingbeck

He could have answered way better than that.

I believe some guy from Glee said he like ethnic looking girls and the white girls went batshit and one even said “Way to dash my dreams of being with you, I feel so discouraged!”

Why can’t some black women who MIGHT or might not feel the same critique what he is putting up? If you feel you have to respond like he did and you can’t take the heat on Instagram, he really doesn’t need to be on social media period!

    • Tony Williams

He was attacked what do you want him to do. take down all his pictures of white women and put up black women in afros to make you feel better about yourself?

      • GKillingbeck

What are you talking about? Personally I don’t have a problem with him putting up pics of white girls but I do understand WHY some women are annoyed. His response was WAYYYYYYY out of line. I’m not surprised people aren’t addressing HIS behavior though.

        • Tony Williams

Why arent you surprised people arent addressing his behavior? Some type of male double standard thing?

      • mike

you are annoying do you work for Maxwell or something it’s clear you have a hate of black women maybe it started with your mother you should take that up with her

        • Tony Williams

No i dont hate black women. i just like to play devils advocate and bring a 180 degree opinion than what people think about here.

  • Nisha

I’m hoping that wasn’t really him who posted back…his grammar is awful. And I honestly could care less who his friends are and I don’t support his music either. Those that are offended shouldn’t support him if they have a problem with him.

  • driven

    Well damn Max. lol

He’s right though. No one should assume, or even care about what women he takes pictures. It’s his perrogative. Black women are slowly starting to look like an angry mob of women appraising a Black Mans love of Black women. But I don’t think Black women would ask another Black female celebs about their love for white men…IMO

    • Nisha

      Some black women…not all.

      • Enjuli Bullock

Thank you….not all of us are an angry mob…

        • Ebony

I’m not angry not one bit.

      • driven

ppl should know im only talking about “some”.

        • CC

That’s not what we read so why should we ASSUME???

          • driven

            common sense should tell you.

            • CC

Common sense tells me not to assume. Say what you mean next time, we don’t know you.

            • Guest

You’d think that, but there are some people who still think in stereotypical terms…often times, on a forum/comment section, if they don’t say ‘some’, they mean ‘all’.

              • driven

people have their underwear in a bunch period.

                • Wemustdobetter

Black men hate when black women date out of their race too. Also, white women hate seeing black women with white men. They just more sneaky about their hate than bw.

                • Wemustdobetter

Black men hate when black women date out of their race too. Also, white women hate seeing black women with white men. They just more sneaky about their hate than bw.

            • http://www.yourtango.com/users/cheekee-baby cheekee baby

So some black women do it and some black women don’t. Some black men are truly colorblind and rep women of all races and some black men say they are colorblind but rep women of every color BUT black.

              See the distinction there?

        • DressSox~n~draws

You can’t do that with this group. Things are taken very literally here. It’s always semantics.i understood what you meant but its touchy with the readers on this site.

    • Kristene Crawley

It’s unfortunate that we have to speak on it at all but I think he and anybody else has a right to a friendship or a date with anyone they choose or eventually to marry. Comments made by some Black women make us seem very insecure. I don’t like it and would prefer that they keep it to themselves, knowing that’s not going to happen.

      • jmjg

Could some of you give it a rest with the word “insecure”. Black women have every reason to be insecure in America, but we all are not insecure and what one Black woman does is not a reflection of me. If you sorry a$$ women raised your sons to love and respect Black people period, half of the problem would e solved.

        • driven

          but i don’t have any children??? :/

        • Kristene Crawley

I just don’t think the world needs to know and sick of reading our PERSONAL issues with each other .

        • Margo Wilkins

Why aren’t these sorry a$$ black men raising these children? Hispanic, White, and Asian American communities are led by the men of these communities. Blackistan(aka the black community) is the only communiy in America that puts the responsibilty of holding it together on the women of the community while giving the sorry, useless “men” of the community a pass. SMDH.

      • http://www.yourtango.com/users/cheekee-baby cheekee baby

What is “insecure” about asking Maxwell, a black man, why he doesn’t INCLUDE black women on his page? They weren’t asking him to exclusively display black women just include them. Seeing as many, many of his fan base are comprised of black women this seems like a fair question.

        • Lou

Asking him to include them? For what? This is ridiculous. Yes,the word insecure is appropriate.

          • http://www.yourtango.com/users/cheekee-baby cheekee baby

No please brush up on your reading comprehension skills here’s what I said the 1st time. “Why he DOESN’T include black women on his page” For a man with a LARGE black woman fan base it seems like a valid question.

            • Margo Wilkins

Black women, PLEASE stop begging black men for respect. It’s not a good look.

              • http://www.yourtango.com/users/cheekee-baby cheekee baby

Who’s begging? When is asking a question considered begging?

    • Wemustdobetter

It’s his prerogative but he’s putting it on display on a public social media site. What did he expect? lol

    • Wemustdobetter

It’s his prerogative but he’s putting it on display on a public social media site. What did he expect? lol

    • Wemustdobetter

White men hate black men with white women much more than bw. Has a bw ever lynched a bm for lusting after white women? *crickets*

  • Monica

He seems a little defensive. I’ve learned if you cannot take the instagram heat don’t have an account. Some black people need a reality check on their obvious love for white folks. I see alot of black celebrities who want to love up on white people, which is no problem but the truth is These same white folks don’t put one penny in your pocket, don’t care for your craft and will never put you in their white magazines.

    • Curly Gurl

I feel you. That’s like Kenny Chesney with pictures of black women on his instagram, Knowing the love and support his white folks have for him. That would be idiotic. We all know black women don’t care about Kenny Chesney Like white women do. White artist stick with the people that put money their pockets. Maxwell very well know that women that look like them don’t even know who he is or play him on the stations that they listen too.

      • Monica

        Kenny..lol..No..

      • driven

true, but life happens and no one is trying to think that deep into it 24/7. I think Maxwell is just trying to live his life…damn.

      • JMO

Double Standards…because if Kenny Chesney did hang with mostly blacks and his fans started telling him he hung with too many black people y’all would have a fit. Y’all have to chill man. His friends are HIS friends smh

        • CC

Only the ignorant are worried about what race of women someone dates. Not too many people would go there anyway because usually (I said USUALLY) white men that date black women are shunned anyway. They don’t make silly comments about it but it shows in their venues.

        • bb morgendoffer

I want to ask every person that’s complaining about what type of women he has on HIS instagram who their congressman is? What’s the APY in your savings acct? Who’s in charge of your child’s school district? That’s what y’all need to worry about.

          • Issa

            I like you

            • bb morgendoffer

              ^,^/

          • Cyndi1

            My Senators are Kay Hagen and Richard Burr and my Reps are G. K. Butterfield and Richard Jones. (I knew my county commissioners also and who represents me at the state capital). Dr. Linwood Williams is in charge of my school district (know my school board members also and the principal of each school). My APY is my business (and it ain’t bad, but it could be better). {just want to let you know some of us are on top of that!!}
With that being said, no problem with Maxwell dating who he wants or being friends with who he wants, just would like to see more ladies that look like me on his pages. As a women of color, it gets tiresome seeing our brothers “worshiping” white women. We are just as beautiful and strong and we want to see ourselves in the media or on a handsome young man’s arm.
Is that too much to ask.

            • Vincent Jackson

Thats whats up!…Black women for the Black man!.

              • hollyw

Lol THAT’S what I’m saying!! With a few Black man, it’s like d@mned if we do, d@mned if we don’t! Can we just say we love the brothah and would appreciate SOME reflection of ourselves I.e. 90% of his fanbase, in his real life like he professes to love in his music??

            • amir bey

….especially since black women buy his music and attend his shows

            • Wemustdobetter

              Just don’t buy his music.

            • GoGirl23

            You are AWESOME!!!

          • Kathy Robinson

Exactly….So is it wrong if we want to have OUR OWN to ourselves?

            • bb morgendoffer

I understand what you’re saying, but it’s such a slippery slope. If white people said “we want to have OUR OWN to ourselves” we’d be upset. I just never saw this as an issue. A lot of these industry men are married to non black women, but that’s the demographic of women who aren’t working on building their careers and establishing themselves because they have to go chase ballers. I’m ok with never having a black woman’s face associated with that. Then again, I felt the same way when there weren’t that many dark skin black women in videos. I didn’t want women that looked like me gyrating over rappers for all the world to see. It’s just a matter of opinion I guess.

          • Stubblefield Patricia

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!! stop making STUPID people famous. . .

          • Margo Wilkins

This is ridiculous. Some people really need to get past this nonsense. People are free to date and marry who they choose. So called “race” shouldn’t matter. You can’t do anything about, anyway. I’m a black woman and I’ved dated all kinds of men. My stepmother is white and I love her dearly. Erase the hate, people.

          • Eugene Shanks

You know what, you just hit the damn nail on the head.

        • Tony Williams

Preach, and you know what crazy black women #1 tv show is Scandal, yet they were ready to boycott Denzel Washington (MR Black America) for doing a movie Flight were he was in bed with a white woman. LORD TAKE THE WHEEL.

          • JMO

HOLD ON NOW! Lol I am a black woman that loves scandal!!! But I also think rationally. How on earth does having white friends do ANYTHING to your fan base. I don’t deny the struggles of our people but I’m sorry this has nothing to do with that. Maxwell lives his life, these women need to live their own. If you have your own man why the heck are you concerned about who Maxwell dates/hangs out with/etc… People get on these social media sites and pop off at the mouth then get mad when an artist snaps on them.

            • Tony Williams

Why are you attacking me, were saying the same thing? cant you read?

              • JMO

NOOO LOL I was speaking to them!!!! I agree with you!! (except on scandal!! Lol)

                • Tony Williams

I dont get what black women obsession with scandal is. but let me speak for myself. ANY WOMAN WHO LIKES THAT SHOW. I COULD NEVER DATE.

                  • JMO

Lol you’re funny. I don’t take offense. My HUSBAND and I watch when it’s on. Good luck with your pursuit of a woman because you’re obviously focused on all the wrong things if a television show defines a woman for you!

                    • Tony Williams

your husband is a controlled pet dog that does 99%of the things you tell him.

                    • JMO

Ha, don’t you wish! My Husband is a leader and the head of our household. He’s also into sports and not women’s gossip sites. Maybe he could teach you a thing or two!

                    • Wemustdobetter

                  • Ebony

Lol it’s funny to me. But I don’t take it serious. I know the difference between real and fake. Kerry Washington is portraying a character just like all the other thousands of actresses out there.

                    • Tony Williams

Well as a black man. i am pretty sure the show wasnt designed for us black men. So i am not supporting it. just like black women might want to boycott maxwell or want to boycott sports or whatever i dont know.

                    • Wemustdobetter

This site is for women???? Gay? Bitter? Or lonely?

                    • Tony Williams

all you get is a laugh hahaha hahaha hahaha.

                    • Ebony

Boycott Maxwell, I don’t give a damn about that man. His music is cool and all but it ain’t that serious. And as for Scandal, it’s a damn that ain’t even real. I watch Scandal like I watch Warner Bros. cartoons. If anything, Warner Bros. cartoons are more offensive than Scandal. I laugh at Scandal because it’s actually funny.

                    • Ebony

And Kerry did marry a black man if that makes you feel better.

                    • Tony Williams

And thats great she married a rich black man. good for both of them and guess what the next day on twitter and youtube. Scandal fans where angry about it. and some even said the marriage was a set up. So that black people wouldnt turn their backs on miss kerry baby.

                    • Ebony

I don’t think people were mad she got married, she show will still go on. But back to Maxwell, I don’t give a damn who he’s hanging out with, I don’t know him, his music is cool but that’s it. He can hang out with bums on skid row for all I care.

                    • Angela

Scandal fans were NOT angry about it. Those people you’re talking about are a very very small group of crazy people among the fandom.

                    • Angela

Do you know what the show is about? Its about a DC fixer who makes public figures’ problems go away, makes the best out of things, etc. Its basically a political drama with some soap opera elements. The show is for everyone.

                    • Tony Williams

I have tired to watch scandal.and all i saw was a black woman (kerry Washington) throwing her self at every white dude on the show. and it was like all the black dudes on that show are asexual, none sexual beings. it was like was twilight zone world.

                    • Angela

What are you talking about? Olivia’s ex fiance is black and she made out with him / had sex with him.

Why do black men keep bringing up Scandal. It has nothing to do with nothing.

                  • Wemustdobetter

Double standards! You okay with Maxwell being down with the swirl but have a problem with a fictional black female character getting her swirl on? Most bw like the show because it’s like a soap opera. Many black women like Love and Hip Hop Atlanta and there’s no swirl going on there.

                    • Tony Williams

HEY dont know what to tell you. i am not dating maxwell. Any women who sits down every week fantasying about some white president wanabe on tv show, PASS!!!!

                  • Synthia Rose

Many black women watch the show to support a black head writer and show creator/runner (Shonda Rimes) and a black leading primetime actress (Kerry Washington). That’s certainly worth backing.

                    • Ebony

                      That’s why I watch it.

                  • Margo Wilkins

Dude, you have serious issues that need to be resolved. Until then, you don’t need to date anyone.

            • Synthia Rose

The issue was not that he has white friends, but that he only flaunts non-black friends exclusively, which clearly suggests a warped psyche, which is why he exploded with anger.

          • Wemustdobetter

Ain’t nobody was trying to boycott that movie. Denzel has played opposite many white women in movies. Ya’ll always lying on black women. Most likely it was some southern, conservative whites that protested.

            • Tony Williams

google boycott flight. people where trying to boycot that movie, it got so bad. Denzel might have missed out getting an Oscar NOMINATION. and the boycott came not from white racists no. FROM BLACK CHURCHES AND BLACK WOMEN. Take the wheel lord, take the wheel, and please help me park in my garage.

              • Stacey

it’s clear you have never truly watch the show and you have some deep rooted anger Scandal is so much more than what you are trying to make it for one Kerry Washington is not throwing herself at every single white man on the show what are you talking about? you need to stop lying the majority of the show she is solving crimes that has nothing to do with the president and the show also focuses on the other characters lives as well the attention is not all on the affair you are really pathetic “a white president wannabe” ? really grow up he is acting ! kind of the point of the whole show no one is lusting after him although he is handsome the show is really well written that has alot of plots and twist to it and no they do not all center on the affair alot of them focus on gay issues, terrorist and how the world of politcs can be a dangerous life instead of trying to talk down on the show you should be praising it this is the first show in 40 years that shows a black women as lead that isn’t on BET who is strong and can handle herself against anything and no just having an affair it’s kind of like Criminal Minds but of course including the president

          • Angela

People watch Scandal for the drama, good acting, interesting characters, etc. yet some of you can’t seem to get what is a subplot with a former relationship the main character had with a man who is white out of your heads.

        • Ebony

          Who’s kenny chesney?

          • JMO

A country singer! lol I’m an r&b kind of gal but Kenny’s alright with me!

            • Ebony

I’m going to look him up. I’m not up on my country/western singers.

      • SkinImIn

Kenny Chesney is not going to disrespect his fan base or his women. It seems that Black men have been conditioned to disrespect his own. Just another day in the life. #ilovetheskiniamin

        • Tony Williams

OMG OMG OMG omg so maxwell having white female friend is disrespecting black women. how is that changing your life?

          • HoneySol

I don’t think its the fact he has white friends… its that fact that he has no black friends. LOL smh

            • Tony Williams

Are you black women serious. YOU REALLY THINK MAXWELL HAS NO FEMALE BLACK FRIENDS? REALLY so every week maxwell has to put his asian, black , and latina female friends on twitter s oblack women dont get hurt females? i am done i am all the wayyyyyyy done. i just came back home from the store. and i saw a beautiful couple. Pregnant Black woman and her Latino Boyfriend. Guess what i didnt care. i didnt attack them or nothing i brought my food. and came back home. Black women try that too.

              • Notorious One

Oh em gee. Maxwell is that you???

              • Margo Wilkins

                We finally agree on something!!!!

            • Synthia Rose

              Tony sure is dense!

              • hollyw

                D.E.A.D! And you said everything!!

      • Barbara

Speak for yourself. I love Kenny Chesney, went to his concert and had a wonderful time! So yeah, talk about something you know specifically and don’t generalize.

        • driven

          wow. that was sharp lol

      • MissRealuminatti

        Real talk

      • Stubblefield Patricia

i LOVE country music and find most R&B and c’rap’ to be highly offensive and demoralizing to me, my race AND the memory of my ancestors. It is NOT a music i would want my daughters to hear nor a music genre that is supported in my home. I happen to love Mr Chesney and his music as well as a lot of various other jazz, folk, new age, classical and of course Broadway inspired music. Just thought i would point that out.

      • reese

Black women will still support him like they do all the other disrespectful black male artist.

    • http://www.chinweokorie.com/ Chinwe Okorie

Honestly, I don’t see anything wrong with this. He’s not a black woman’s slave….he can do whatever he wants and shouldn’t get any comments. I don’t think he has to find every damn black person and take photo with them. I know how he feels as being Nigerian and getting complaints that I am not around my “people” 24/7.

The people who comment seems worried that only black man would love them..which they shouldn’t…you’re not tied to a black man….

      • Monica

Maybe you should hang around your people. U sound like you have issues with your self to make that type of reference.

        • driven

No i disagree, I think her comment was valid. Look, I love to see Black love and Black friendship, but people have to live their normal lives. We can’t go around acting like the Black Police. Neither Chinwe or Maxwell is obligated to only hang around Black people. He can have fun and live. And everybody knows Maxwell loves Black women as well as others. He comes off as a very cultured/international man to me.

          • jmjg

How do you know that he loves Black women and why should he if he does not?

            • driven

this debate is getting lame and pathetic. point is nobody knows, and nobody ever will through instagram.

          • jx0

I don’t follow him so I don’t know what pics his fans have been seeing besides the one above but I don’t think they are saying he should ONLY have black friends. But if All of his friends are white then it’s normal to question his appreciation for his own race.

            • JMO

REALLY???? Wow you all need to diversify your life….

            • howwedoit

              I agree

              • Margo Wilkins

                I agree, too.

              • Margo Wilkins

                I agree, too.

        • http://www.chinweokorie.com/ Chinwe Okorie

          Wow…….. I think you have a problem.

      • Margo Wilkins

I am a black American woman and I approve this post.

      • Margo Wilkins

I am a black American woman and I approve this post.

    • Desiree Williams

Totally agree. And this is why we as a people are in our current situation. There were so many of us who went out to defend racist Paula Deen! Do you think our Jewish counterparts would be quick to embrace and defend someone out there making anti-semitic comments??? Until we respect ourselves and love each other no one else will! I think it is a totally slap in the face to Maxwell’s fan base! It’s not about being “nonracist” as he claims but where is the love for your own? No loyalty!!!!!!

      • Desiree Williams

And I believe he’s gay anyway!!

        • Avowed_Liberal_Democrat

That’s a ghetto knee jerk response.

          • Wemustdobetter

He might be gay and that’s why he took offense like a catty female would. Him and his white girls might do each others nails and hair together. You never know.

          • Margo Wilkins

            Yes it is.

        • OSHH

Those have been my thoughts on Maxwell for years, nothing knee jerk or ghetto about that conclusion, it’s rather obvious.

        • Guest

I find that people only really say that when they’re unable to pinpoint what type of girl the guy would date…personally though, I couldn’t care less if he was gay or not

          • Vincent Jackson

.What is wrong with Black love?.I know people have the right to date whom ever they want so why aren’t famous black men dating Black women?.Whats wrong with loving Black Women?..

            • Wemustdobetter

Too much self hate in our community. We are brainwashed and believe the stereotypes that are said about us.

            • Tony Williams

WHats wrong with LOVE LOVE. last time i checked LOVE DOESNT HAVE A COLOR.

        • Tony Williams

OMG SO freaking classless.”his gay anyway” AND THIS IS why the numbers of black men marrying and dating non black women is sky rocketing. Drops mic and walks out i am all the wayyyy done.

          • Bubbles

Dude why even bother responding. you know what the trend is going to be by responding to this topic. You are just as bad as the ladies posting the comments. Seriously you walked into this knowing the predicted responses. Point blank and simple Maxwell has the right to post any photos of anyone he wants too, it is his instagram. Leave it like that you didn’t have to add ” AND THIS IS why the numbers of black men marrying and dating non black women is sky rocketing.” Understand that there is a difference between correlation and causation. Besides who cares people can marry whoever they want, stop making it seem that black women are the issue because they aren’t, you are over generalizing black women as a whole and being a bigot just like the ladies that posted on Maxwell’s blog. Seriously this is why I cannot respect men like you. I cannot stand men with personalities like you thankfully there are good men out there who appreciate women of all colors and don’t bash or over generalize women like you do.

          • Wemustdobetter

Child please! Black men are dating white women because they are weak, brainwashed and they hate themselves. They look for any excuse to date the other women. But most whites (and yes white women) are racist and hate our guts.

            • Tony Williams

And guess what white men dont even find black women attractive , atleast white women marry us black men. checkmate.

              • bb morgendoffer

Tell that to David Bowie, George Lucas, and Robert Deniero….

                • Tony Williams

Oh ok i went to school with 70% white dudes in highschool and college,. and 90% of the time their girlfriends where blondes or asian chicks.

              • Margo Wilkins

When black men mess up, their white wives divorce them, take half of their dough, find themselves a white man, and go back to respectable white society. These white women never go black again, because they don’t have to. They got that black fool’s money, which is all that they wanted in the first place. And btw,
Marriges between black men and white women have the highest failure rates of all marriges. Marriges between white men and black women are the most successful. Checkmate.

                • Tony Williams

Idiot your making seem like the white race is so much higher and better than the black race. tons of white women who have kids with black men and date black men again. PEOPLE ARENT ONLY ATTRACTED TO ONE RACE. i know i know marriages between white men and black women last for 5 trillions years and ones between black men and white women average 5 years top. i have heard all the stats whatever.

          • Margo Wilkins

Bruh, snap out of it.. The number of black men who are dating and marrying out is not skyrocketing. Stastics show that black men and black women are the least desired in mixed dating/marriages, period. Black people (both males and females, folks) are the most hated people in America. Folks, we have to make a conscious decision to defy the stereotypes, to not be “black statistics”, so to speak. Institutionalized racism still exists, however, we don’t have to add to the problem by making our lives harder than they have to be. It works for me!!! Just food for thought.

          • reese

Not as fast as the black women marrying non black men. Up 200% in two years.

        • Truth B. Told

          I agree with you, Desiree!!

        • Margo Wilkins

Well, if you are that upset with Maxwell and suspect that he might be gay, then simply Stop Buying His Merchandise!!!!!

    • Tony Williams

DEFENSIVE HE WAS ATTACKED. so Maxwell is minding his own business. then black women question why no black women on his page, he replies back .and thats defensive, OMG black women, you know what this is doing its turning more black men off. This is why white women are #1 wifey WHITE WOMEN KNOW HOW TO CHILL AND JUST KEEP IT MOVING. KEEP IT 300 , COOL, CALM,COLLECTED.

      • jmjg

You are one stupid Negro. You are making a fool of yourself.

        • Tony Williams

          whatever.

        • LeiLani

I wonder if that’s his real name?

      • Wemustdobetter

Go to Tommy Sotomayer’s page. You feel at home there with the rest of the black female bashers.

      • Ms Butterfly

It’s a shame black men are so turned off by black women. They’ll just have no choice but to turn to white women and knock them up and not marry them, or Marry them and then cheat. Kim and Khloe Kardashian are so lucky they get to experience that.

        • bb morgendoffer

I’m honestly very happy that men like this seek out and marry non black women. I absolutely do not want men like this putting black women through hell in emotionally abusive relationships that produce nothing but bitterness and resentment in the long run.

      • bb morgendoffer

WHITE WOMEN KNOW HOW TO CHILL AND JUST KEEP IT MOVING

        0.o
        Tell that to Jodi Arias….

        • Angelique

Jodi Arias ain’t white. She’s mixed Hispanic.

    • sassy

You can’t assume these white folks aren’t putting one penny in his pocket. Once you get to his level then you will see what they have to deal with. Black people hate on you no matter where you at in life. On the bottom, in the middle and at the top black people hate. You can never do enough to satisfy black people. I concur with Maxwell.

    • Megan

exactly and also to add on to what you said Monica, I wonder if his white friends would still be friends with him if he weren’t famous. I wonder if those white women would still all be hanging onto him if he was just a regular non famous black person?

      • Wemustdobetter

You sounding pretty bitter right now.Uglygirlsdotcom

          Amanda Bynes is that you?

          • Wemustdobetter

Joseline Hernandez is that you? Stop chasing after no-good men like Stevie J. You making it hard for the black women that have standards and self-respect.

And you know because…? You read about it somewhere?

    • whoyou

Please… give me a black person who dose. Color should be iliminated in my opinion because you saying this about white people & i can’t say you are wrong, but black people do the same thing, but other black people don’t want to point that fact out due to the fact that it may make us look like we are proving other races right in our minds.

    • ThisTime

I just recently attended a Maxwell concert. There may have been about 5 white women in the whole venue. Who do you think was packing the place? Exactly!

    • Renee

    • Angela

When Maxwell was performing at some event [I believe at the Grammys] a few years back during his comeback, some black female members at a gosspi site were gushing about him while the white girls were like ‘Who the eff is this?’

    • Nikki

i do not see why people who have a problem with him just do this….just do not buy his albums or go to his concerts, just move on to the next heartthrob….and remember when a lot of people thought that he was gay? so who cares about this? anyway, stop supporting him and then he will see which side his bread is buttered on……
