Same Story, Different Reality Star: K. Michelle Gets Hit With Eviction Papers
During the season finale of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, K.Michelle appeared in a dramatized scene, which depicted her packing up her belongings while in her Atlanta apartment, as she prepared for her big move to New York. VH1 would have you to believe that this is where her Atlanta chapter ends, but according to recent reports, our girl still has some unfinished business back in the “A.”
Access Atlanta is reporting that K.Michelle failed to pay rent to her landlord during her last two months in the city. As a result, earlier this week her landlord went to the Fulton County Courtt and filed an eviction notice against her. According to the filing, she owes $6,450 in back rent, plus late fees and an additional $1, 250 for filing and administration fees. The landlord claims that the “V.S.O.P” singer failed to pay rent for the months of June and July.
The property owner is reportedly based in Venezuela, but the broker handling the property and the paperwork is Jason Lapene. According to Lapene, K.Michelle inquired about getting out of her lease early, which was supposed to end in October. He agreed to let her out of the lease early and without penalty, as long as she agreed to let him rent the apartment out as soon as possible.
“I was trying to accommodate her. But she just disappeared and didn’t give me the keys. I don’t even know what the deal is. She didn’t tell me she was leaving and made it difficult for me to sell the unit. She made it miserable for me,” Lapene told Access Atlanta.
The “Kiss My A**” singer, whose governement name is Kimberly Pate, wasted no time taking to social media to respond to the allegations. While she admits that she didn’t pay her outstanding rent balance, she says it’s because she didn’t have a working shower. There also seems to be a bit of a contradiction between K’s story and the landlord’s. She insists that she moved out four months ago.
There’s never a dull moment with this one.
