Cissy Houston Pens Open Letter To Bobbi Kristina, Says She Disapproves Of Engagement To Nick Gordon

It’s no secret that Bobbi Kristina’s family members aren’t exactly crazy about her relationship with Nick Gordon, so it’s not surprising that they would be against the young couple’s recent engagement as well. Earlier this month Bobby Brown revealed that he’s not too happy about his daughter’s upcoming nuptials. Not because he dislikes Nick, but simply because he’s concerned about his baby girl. Bobbi Kristina’s grandmother, Cissy Houston, appears to be singing a similar tune. In a recently released open letter to the 20-year-old, Cissy addressed why she’s not in favor of the engagement and the rift that her book, Remembering Whitney, caused between them.

“Dear Krissi: I love you. My heart is full. I don’t know where to begin. You may think I don’t understand you and what you’re feeling but remember, Baby, I lost my mom when I was just a child. So, I do know some of the sadness and loneliness of your life since your mom passed away,” Cissy’s letter begins.

“Although I know her spirit is with you always, I cry with you and for you. I grieve with you and for you … for all of the days and nights you need to tell her something or ask her advice or just hear her voice … and she’s not there. For all of the times when you need to put your head in her lap or feel her arms around you and she’s not there … For the good and happy times you want to share with her; for the fun and laughter you enjoyed together, but she’s not there … for every day and every night you just miss her … I know,” she continues.

Taking time to address the strain the her book, Remembering Whitney, put on their relationship, she argues that she simply wanted to share the real Whitney with the world.

“She was your mom and she was my child and Krissi, I loved her too, more than you might imagine. I know you were upset that I wrote my book, ‘Remembering Whitney,’ but I hope one day you’ll read it and understand that I just wanted to let the world see some of My Nippy—the sweet, friendly, loving little girl with the extraordinary beauty and boundless talent, who grew into the superstar and musical icon the world saw. I want people to know—fans and critics and ordinary people alike—Nippy was a whole person, and like all of us, she was good and bad AND she was my joy!”

Changing gears a bit, she promises that she only wants what’s best for Bobbi Kristina, but confesses that she doesn’t believe marrying Nick is the best thing for her to do right now.

“Krissi, all I want for you is your good health and your happiness. I want you to have a good life that you can be proud of. Do I want you to get married in the near future? No, I  don’t. I think you’re too young and I wish you’d wait. But that’s because I’m Grandma. ’m supposed to worry about you. I’m supposed to wonder If Nick or ANY man is good enough for you, My Baby’s Baby. I’m not angry with Nick.”

In closing, she addressed some of the things that various tabloids have been implying that she said.

“I don’t think, nor did I ever say anything hurtful about him to anyone. I have NEVER publicly commented on your personal life and I don’t intend to. So in the future when you read or hear that Cissy Houston said this or Cissy Houston said that, be confident in the knowledge that it isn’t true. I try to believe that when your mother passed away the world decided that you belong to them as she did. I’m trying very hard to trust that people who make comments or offer their opinions about you are sincere in their desire for you to be happy. I can only hope they come to realize the best they can offer you is their prayers. Krissi, as many years as I’ve lived and as many experiences as I’ve had I know I don’t have all of the answers. I do know this, Baby Girl: God’s got you and so do I. With all my love, Grandma.”

Bobbi Kristina has yet to respond to her grandmother’s letter.

What do you think of Cissy’s decision to address her granddaughter publicly? Would you say that this should’ve been a private conversation?

Cissy has said on the family show how she has reached out to Bobbi Kris and she doesn’t return her grandmother’s calls so she is reaching out the best way she can. Bobbi Kris has really shut her family out since the passing of Whitney. Their show shows it. Her facebook page she lets everyone know in so many words she is going to do whatever she wants. I just pray that she gets the help she needs and that peace finds her before its too late for her.

That. Is. Wonderful. I teared up reading that. Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. Cissy knows her Granddaughter. May she thought that just a private sit-down would not be taken with enough seriousness to get Bobbi Christina to truly understand the seriousness of this situation — and 20 years-old is too young. Maybe at 23 or 24 after college and/or some inroads into a career.

Honestly, I think you all should just stop and try to wear the shoes of a mother who has a daughter and takes on looking after someone else’s child. You have not formally adopted him, so he cannot be characterised as “adopted brother” to your daughter. He is simply in your care. Too many of you act as if Whitney was blind. you think this attraction only started the day Whitney died? You think there wasn’t evidence of it before? Come on now! Work harder at your characterisations so that you can come into greater light and understanding. Or do you prefer to be just downright cruel? Bobby can and should wait to marry Nick, his love should be tested with a lengthy engagement moreso because of their circumstances. Let’s see if he is in a hurry and why BUT let their love grow and deepen and strengthen or let time prove it will fade. Momma Cissy, please let it go, you raised your daughter right and I believe she anchored Bobby K with that same ability, just be there to catch her if she falls. Our children do sometimes.

She put the title of the book in the letter? I thik this a shameless plug and a poorly maneuvered plan to vhange the public’s percetion of her. IMO this just adds fuels to the fire. Everybody knows Whitney would notwant this attention on her child.

He’s not her brother, for the love of GOD…leave this poor kid alone to make poor decisions just like WE ALL DID. Who are we to judge? I am so tired of the cruelness that runs rampant in this world. She is a human being, for crying out loud..

Pretty sure the letter will heal nothing. Bobbi K is probably on the next flight to Vegas with her brotherlover getting married by Elvis.

should have absolutely been done privately. the ONLY way she could contact her granddaughter or get this letter to her was to release it PUBLICLY??? From the book about Whitney, to the reality show (filmed a couple months after her death), to this pathetic emotional display more and more is being revealed about just how trustworthy Whitney’s family (in particular her mother) was to her. so sad.

      nothing is private these days.
