Many young ladies dream of their wedding day: the dress, the shoes, the man they’ll spend their life with and the list goes on and on.  For many women, they also get a chance to have that daddy-daughter dance that usually gains many sentimental thoughts from guests.

But what if there’s a possibility of a woman missing out on that special dance with her father?

Meet Rachel Woof.

The California native is 25 years old and is not engaged (she might even be single) but she realized that her dad might not be able to see the say she walk down the aisle, should it happen.

Wolf’s dad, Dr. James Wolf, is suffering from pancreatic cancer which was diagnosed in 2011.  He’s been through many rounds of chemotherapy and with his final round looming, Rachel realized that she wanted to do something very memorable and touching.

So, she staged a “wedding” for the sole purpose of having a father-daughter dance with her dad.  Rachel sent her father an invitation that invited him to a father-daughter dance. They met at a park where Rachel, donned in a wedding dress, shoes and jewelry, danced with her dad in a moment she always hoped to have.

They danced to “Cinderella” by Steven Curtis Chapman.

ABC News reports that their affiliate recorded the dance but Rachel doesn’t want to watch it until she’s actually having a wedding.  Wolf was a bit surprised that her father was so touched:

“It meant more to him than I ever thought it would. The joy that I saw in his face when he saw me was amazing. I always told him I would have a religious wedding, but I never told him how important it was [the dance] because I thought he was going to be around for a lot longer. You don’t think about these things until they are too late.”

Dr. Wolfe added about his daughter’s gesture:

“I was completely taken aback. It was a special idea to remember her father at her wedding day.”

Listen.  The above video is only one minute and six seconds but it only took me 20 seconds before my eyeballs started sweating (for those of you who don’t get it, I started tearing up a bit).  It was just so sweet.

Check out the clip and let us know what you think.

This was such a wonderful gesture for her to do. I think about this all the time and it makes me sad…..my Dad passed and if I ever get married, the dance and walk will be very difficult.

My boyfriend’s mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January and doctors gave her until the end of the year to live. I really love her and hope that she will live awhile longer, regardless of whether she will be here when my boyfriend and I get married. She’s such a beautiful person and I wish this didn’t have to happen to her. :(

The story was very touching. I wish this woman and her family all the happiness and peace in the world.

Initially I didn’t watch the video because I was just glancing on my phone, but that video just did it for me! I’m happy she thought of this. It just made their dance that much more special.

  • Just saying!!

That stuff scares me. I want my daddy to walk me down the aisle. This was a good idea though. Good for her. How touching!
