From coast to coast, people have been out all Saturday afternoon to join the National Action Network’s  Justice for Trayvon” National Action Day of Vigils.

The vigils, held at noon, went from coast to coast and were held to press the federal government to charge George Zimmerman with civil charges in the death of 17 year old Trayvon Martin.

Trayvon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, was in New York at the rally while his dad, Tracy Martin, was in Florida at the Miami rally. They both addressed the crowd and thanked everyone for their support. A video clip was captured by NBC News:

Even through rainy conditions in the south and  extremely hot conditions on the east coast, the rallies ended up with thousands of people showing their support. In Atlanta, actress Lynn Whitfield showed her support while Beyoncé, Jay Z and Tina Knowles showed theirs in New York.

There are many more rallies and plans in the works as local and national leaders vow to use this unfortunate incident as a way to effect change in not only in the black community but around the nation as a whole.

Stand your Ground benefits blacks disproportionately to their percentage of the population.
How much sense does it make for black people to be against a law that HELPS THEM?

    I am confused.

There is all of this “Justice for Travon” talk yet there was a Second Degree Murder Trial that stood to convict George Zimmerman of 30 years to Life. The Jury heard ALL of the evidence and returned a NOT GUILTY verdict.

These shallow-minded celebs are completely ignorant. They ALL have armed security. Let me scale Beyonce’s wall and see how fast I get a gun drawn on me!!! Why do ALL of
these celebrities not understand that there are certain laws advantageous to the person being attacked. Do Jay-Z and Beyoncé have a “duty to retreat”? I THINK NOT!!!!

I DO NOT hope Travon’s family will be dragged through the mud because of the person Trayvon Martin was. Georges Zimmerman’s life has been ruined by the race profiteers and do not wish this on anyone. However, NoLimitNigga’s Facebook, Twitter and IM messages will show him to be the one racially profiling Mr. Zimmerman that night. He made the fatal mistake of provoking a street fight with a man legally carrying a firearm. OOPS!!!

Not sure who Zimmerman took to his H.S. prom; who he’s mentored in the past; previous collection efforts or the price of tea in China have to do w/your post but…Ok GREG – it’s night, you’re walking home, you notice you’re being followed by someone. You have no idea of why they are following you but, it’s night you’re alone and you don’t know who this person is or their intent. Now what?? Do you ‘Stand Your Ground’ because you are in a place you have the right to be (public area) and you feel threatened as this person is in pursuit of you or do you Greg, “make the fatal mistake of PROVOKING a street fight”? Zimmerman made the FATAL choice to begin to pursue this kid and to continue to on foot after being TOLD he did not need to do that. The defense did a wonderful job in turning this all around as a positive for their client but, it YOU, ME or ANYONE else is pursued and confronted in the night… What would YOU do???

The cycle of vigils; marches & rallies is fine but, it these celebs and others all-out boycott the cray-cray state (FL) stop performing/ appearing; going to Disney World etc. and really following through with it!!! Now that’s a language they definitely understand (MONEY!) To get something you’ve never had you must do something you’ve never done.
