Must be nice!

I think it’s safe to say that Denzel Washington and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have paid their dues. Through the years, we’ve watched them put in the work and it’s great to see that their hard work has paid off. Both of the heartthrobs snagged spots on this year’s edition of the Forbes Highest Paid Actors list.

Dwayne comes in at number 5, having earned a whopping $45 million this year. The WWE personality-turned-Hollywood-actor proved that he’s one of the hardest working men in Hollywood this year. According to Forbes, Fast & Furious 6 exceed $500,000 million in gross sales after being in theaters for less than two weeks. He also breathed life back into the dying GI Joe franchise by starring in the latest Hollywood installment, GI Joe: Retaliation.

Denzel has also been busy at work. This year the actor was nominated for his sixth Oscar for the amazing job he did in the movie Flight. Flight paid off in more ways than one, though. According to Forbes, Denzel took a gamble by starring in the flick because he took a pay cut in exchange for a cut of the backend. Luckily for him, the gamble paid off. The movie earned $162 million. Mind you, producers only spent $31 million on the entire film. Score!

Way to go, fellas!

I am always amazed at the high salary Denzel commands, because his movies generally do not do that well commercially. That was the reason he was on the Forbes list of least valuable actors at the end of last year. Plus (and I know I’ll get stoned for this) I just think he’s average at best. Never saw the hype there … I respect what he represents but I just have never thought he had much range. I still think one of his best movies was “Carbon Copy” … He was great in that. Very understated.
