Michelle Williams Says Sometimes Sistas Need To Set One Another Straight

July 12, 2013  |

Destiny’s Child in the house! This past week we got to chat with one part of the DC trio, Michelle Williams, at Essence Festival, and given the drama she’s had to deal with this year with black women in the industry, i.e., Keyshia Cole, we had just one question for the singer: how does she feel about black women and sisterhood.

Though Destiny’s Child seemed to always have a tight bond, we wondered how Michelle is making due as a solo artist and whether haters like Keyshia are the norm, or she has a supportive group of girls around her. Michelle also gave us a little background on her new single “If We Had Your Eyes” and told us she’s a big fan of MadameNoire (smile!). Check out her interview up top and if you haven’t heard her new single, listen to it below.

Quite a positive message. Michelle seemed like the less dramatic one out of the group. I personally don’t think her upbringing raised her to be the image DC held but she seemed like she made it fit and now she’s a celebrity. Very positive woman DC doesn’t fit her character so I feel she needs to disassociate herself with them and just be the God-fearing woman she was meant to be. I like it that she is keeping it real, at least somebody is!!!!

agreed, always thought one of her reasons she stuck by destiny’s child as her one shot to be able to start her own career, she might be not as invested to the group as the rest maybe that is why she does not feel the need to speak of it as much, she always felt right in gospel and the change was right
