Loves It! Denzel And Pauletta Washington Celebrate Black Love On The Cover Of Ebony

July 8, 2013  |

Have you ever seen so much wealth, power, beauty and love on one magazine cover before? I think not. Ebony magazine has outdone themselves with their August 2013 issue by not only putting the spotlight on black wealth, but also black love, and bringing along Denzel and his wife Pauletta to do so.

On June 25, the Washingtons celebrated their 30th anniversary so this cover is especially befitting their union. When asked about their ability to maintain such a strong relationship over the years against the pressures of Hollywood and all the rumors and distractions that come along with the industry, Pauletta said:

“I live with this man. I see the down part. I see the sad part. I see every part. He has and knows he has that stability in me as his wife. That’s gives him strength, regardless of if he misuses it. I can’t dwell on that. But I do know that gives him a great platform to go and fly.”

Whew! She said a mouthful with that quote didn’t she? The idea of a woman holding her man down is nothing new, but what’s so powerful about her statement is the sentiment that her support of her husband doesn’t waiver even in his weak moments. Like she said, if he misuses her love, that’s his problem and she refuses to dwell on it. But in the same fashion, she knows — and he likely does too — that if he taps into that support he’ll go further than he ever could alone. I suggest everyone pick up this issue at the end of the month!
