Celebrating Independence: Historic Black Entrepreneurs Who Paved The Way

In light of our nation’s Independence Day celebration, we couldn’t help but take some time to think about our history as a whole. Sure thoughts of the 4th of July may evoke school lessons about the American Revolutionary War and other events that helped define us as a country, but what about those individuals who didn’t receive a huge mention in textbooks?

There have been tons of African-American figures who have helped shape this country. As we continue into modern times utilizing the fruits of their efforts, it would be awesome to highlight some who paved the way in areas that were normally difficult for us to succeed. Business as a whole is a volatile industry as nothing is ever guaranteed. Those who are pursuing the dream of owning their own business just might enjoy knowing there were predecessors who went through struggles and found great success in a time of difficulty.

Here are some historic black entrepreneurs that deserve a mention.
