Every busy woman needs a little help to keep her appointments straight. So it is no wonder more and more virtual assistant apps are coming out. One of the latest is Donna, a free personal assistant iOS app which is named after iconic television assistant Donna Moss from The West Wing. According to the Los Angeles Times, the app works by pulling data from your existing calendar to keep you on schedule. Donna will even tell you when you need to leave to make your next appointment.
“Donna learns about you, anticipates your needs, and only gives you the information you need when you need it,” said chief executive Kevin Cheng, founder of Incredible Labs, makers of Donna, told the Times. What makes Donna different than other virtual assistant apps, says Cheng is that Donna comes to you with information. And over time, Donna culls your personal habits such as your favorite places and will predict where your home and work are, where you will be leaving from, and where meetings are without you entering exact addresses, reports the newspaper.
There are other virtual assistant apps out there as well, such as “Assistant,” which talks to you in a natural voice when you ask it something, reports The Tecnica. That can be either comforting or really creepy. Assistant will find info for you on the Internet and speak out and display the result. Assistant is from Speaktoit and is for use on Android devices. And of course, there’s Apple’s Siri also goes by the motto, “Your wish is my command.” Just tell Siri what you want or need and it will get it for you. Siri now gives you a voice option — male or female.
Maluuba has been called and alternative to Siri. The app for Android and Windows Phone 8 was developed by Maluuba and app organizes the tasks into easy categories like search where you can search for movies, restaurants, weather, location and many more, reports The Tecnica. Organize your work with reminders and alarms, app, connect with others by calling them, update status in Facebook or check out any event through Maluuba.
