Crowning himself the “God of Rap,” the Brooklyn emcee-turned-mogul started calling himself HOVA, short for Jay-Hova, a play on the word “Jehovah.” “I’ve never been comfortable being called God,” Jay-Z has said of his own nickname. “I shorten it to Hova.”
