If he’s not careful, Kirk Franklin will become THE face of BET.
First of all, yes there is another Gospel based reality show coming to television. I know many of you are about as sick of them as you are the ratchet reality shows but face it, there’s a market for them.
Second, yes Kirk Franklin is becoming the go-to Gospel host of everything on television.
According to Christianpost.com, Kirk Franklin will be the new host of a show called Gone Gospel. The one hour docu-series will follow the lives of former popular singers as they work their way through the gospel world. At the end of the contest, there will be one winner.
The show doesn’t just crown a winner but it chronicles these artists’ lives. They are men and women who have decided they want to be stronger in their faith and music is just part of the journey. Each contestant will have an inspirational song written for them that will highlight what they’ve been through and where they’re going.
Kirk Franklin is not only the host, but he also serves as the executive producer of Gone Gospel. He’s also the current host of BET’s Sunday’s Best.
So far, no word from BET reps about when Gone Gospel will air or who the singers will be on the show.
What do you think? Do we really need another Gospel competition? Would it be better to just have a documentary following the lives of former popular (and I take that to mean “secular”) singers and how they’re trying to change their lives? Will you watch?
