Teenage pregnancy isn’t exactly one of those things women tend to boast about. And in Hollywood it’s become much more common to see celebrities giving birth way past 40 as opposed to before 18. But proving that your life isn’t completely over should you find yourself expecting in your teen years, these famous women went on to achieve great success while raising youngin’s as youngin’s themselves.

Maya Angelou once lived a life no one would ever expect of such an accomplished author and poet. Three weeks after graduating high school, Angelou gave birth to a son at 17 years old and soon found herself sliding “down the social ladder into poverty and crime,” as she wrote in her second autobiography Gather Together in My Name. Despite once working as a business manager for sex workers, once Angelou married in 1951 and moved to New York, she discovered legit ways to make money and took up professional dance and then developed her writing.
