Couples Who Surprisingly Survived The Reality TV Curse — So Far!
We’ve all watched reality TV shows like “The Bachelor” or any of the “Real Housewives” series and not given it a second thought or batted an eyelash when word came out that one of the couples on the show had broken up. But what about those couples whose relationships have stood the test of time — or at least the test of the cameras and survived the ever so prevalent reality TV curse? Surely they deserve a shout out for their union surviving in a world where audiences tune in to watch their intimate lives day in and day out. Lets look at the celeb reality couples who’ve made their love last under the scrutiny of television cameras and viewers.
Teresa and Joe Giudice (“The Real Housewives of New Jersey”)
Married for more than 10 years and parents to three daughters, these “Housewives” stars just renewed their wedding vows this past fall. Unfortunately, the couple is enduring another challenge – Joe’s recent arrest on suspicion of obtaining a fake driver’s license. Also, Teresa’s participation in this season’s “Celebrity Apprentice” will provide her an opportunity to breathe new life into the family’s business and reputation, which means they just might make it last forever.
Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott (“Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood”)
Former “90210” star Tori Spelling and actor Dean McDermott became an item after filming a movie together, although both were still married to previous spouses. Fast forward six years later, a plethora of reality seasons, and three kids and they are still madly in love.
Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum (“The Bachelorette”)
What are the odds of love blossoming from a rose-giving, superficial reality show filled with catty women and backstabbing men? Bachelorette Ashley Hebert found love with construction manager, J.P. Rosenbaum. Plans for a wedding are in the works for this upcoming fall. She’s still not going to convert to Judaism though.
Tamar and Vince (“Braxton Family Values”/”Tamar And Vince”)
Even with divorce rumors swarming , Tamar Braxton and Vincent Herbert have never been more in love. It was questionable, especially with the way the two communicate at times. The singer/songstress is managed by her hubby, which can be stressful, but they are all about making it work. The beautiful couple just had a baby boy.
T.I. And Tiny (“The Family Hustle”)
This super hot couple has been together since the early 90’s and we witnessed their chemistry first-hand from the first episode of “The Family Hustle” when T.I. returns home from an extended stay in jail. Their bond only strengthened with reality television.
Phaedra and Apollo (“Real Housewives of Atlanta”)
This RHOA couple were rumored to be next on the reality TV breakup list but they snubbed their noses at tabloids by making their workout dvd, Phine Body, which turned out to be quite a success. They also just expanded their family with the reason birth of a second son.
Kris and Bruce Jenner (“Keeping Up With The Kardashians”)
This couple started their reality TV show back in 2007 and so far, Bruce and Kris have not succumbed to the reported $175 million divorce deal some claimed was in the works. It probably helps that Bruce isn’t much for spotlight, while Kris runs right to it.
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom (“Khloe & Lamar”)
It will never last! We all said it after these two got hitched after one month (if that) of dating. But, alas! True love never dies. The NBA All Star and little sis to Kim are still madly in love, as seen on their many shows.
Ice-T and Coco Marie Austin (“Ice Loves Coco”)
The ever hardcore, scowling rapper/actor, Ice-T is gaga for Coco, a peppy, upbeat actress/model. Together for well over a decade, they proved all negative Nancy’s that they indeed are truly in love. If ever you didn’t think a couple would last, it’d be them, but they’ve shown them all.
Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett (“Kendra”)
Playboy model meets NFL receiver and lives happily ever after. Who would have ever guessed this union would stand the test of time? Wilkinson and Baskett have been married for over two years. They adore their super cute, coily-haired boy, Hank IV, and the Basketts have survived four years of Wilkinson’s reality series for E!
