Watching the first season of “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta” I used to wonder why Karlie Redd, aside from trying to get put on, would want to mess with Benzino. But after the release of this tacky, “Smashed the Homie” track, I can see that they’re cut from the same cloth called petty. Karlie Redd is still trying to convince Rasheeda to do a K Michelle diss track when she clearly has bigger things to worry about, like why her husband is asking her to get an abortion.
But I digress. The topic of today’s post is Benzino. This 47 year old man is releasing songs that literally take words out of Ray J’s mouth. You may remember he popularized the phrase “smashed the homies” in his reality show “For the Love of Ray J.”( And ya’ll know how we feel about Ray J.) In this video, Benzino employs a Joseline Hernandez look-alike to bounce her booty cheeks, dry hump him and look into the camera, lips slightly parted. As she’s doing all of this Benzino raps and sings, with the help of autotune, about how this Hernandez doppelganger wanted to do some “animal ish” with him even though she already had sex with his friend.
She says she want to get to know me. Even though she smashed the homie. She wanted to do it like some animals! I tried to tell her to keep it low-key.
Benzino hasn’t necessarily been popping in the music industry for decades now; but with his involvement in the highly respected Source and even Hip Hop Weekly, he still had some credibility. But after this…
Watch the travesty on the next page.…but as someone who viewed the entire video in complete horror, you can get the gist after the first minute. A person can only hear the phrase “animal sh!t” so many times before losing IQ points.
