Kelly Rowland took a chance singing her emotional new track, “Dirty Laundry” at Riverfest in Little Rock, AR, this weekend, and it turned out the soulfully honest lyrics of the song ended up being a bit too much for the singer as she performed.
Almost foreshadowing the breakdown that was to come, Kelly told the crowd about the song before she began:
“I felt like I could share that with y’all is that okay? Was it too much? I don’t think anything has ever hit a chord like that with me in the studio but tonight I am so happy to be sharing the song for the first time with you.
“Keep in mind that I’m an artist, and I’m sensitive about my s*** so if you see something roll down my face, don’t judge me, just love me, okay?”
The tears definitely came as Kelly got to the bridge of her track and sat for a few moments wiping tears from her face, seemingly thinking about all she’d been through in the abusive relationship detailed in the song, and the toil it took on her relationship with Beyonce.
Lucky for Kelly, the crowd had her back 100 percent, clapping wildly for her during her emotional moment, and she eventually finished the song, speaking on how grateful she is to have her girls (Destiny’s Child) to back her up.
Check out Kelly’s performance below, and peep the way the crowd already knows all the lyrics to the song she just released not even two full weeks ago. What do you think?
