Hollywood Exes’ Daphne Wayans Talks Splitting From Keenen Ivory Wayans After 15 Years And 5 Kids

- By

MN: Will your children appear on the show?

DW: No, they will not. This is kind of new, that their mom is on television. Reality TV has its reputation, so we’re all treading lightly. It was their decision.

MN:  How does Keenen feel about you appearing on the show?

DW: I don’t know if he’s fine or not. I don’t know if I’m fine or not. This is the kind of thing that you don’t know until it’s edited. In real life, I don’t bash Keenan. That’s not my reality. He’s my family.

MN: Are you worried about any backlash, in general?

DW: I don’t worry about things. They can only edit from what you give them. There’s only so much changing they can do. No, I’m not worried. I’m well intentioned. I’m not perfect. I may not say things that everyone likes or say things the right way, but my intentions are well and good. So this is an experience that I’m willing to have, and I tried to stay true to myself.

MN: Are you currently in a relationship or involved with anyone? Will they be on the show and how do they feel about you participating?

DW: No, I’m not seeing anyone, but I want to be!! If anyone knows of anyone, I think I can get my ex-husband to write a letter of recommendation for me.

MN: What’s the most important thing women should know about being married to a man in the industry?

DW: That he’s a man with a job that’s under a microscope. There are varying degrees of the industry, but the biggest of which is that he is under a magnifying glass. Really, he’s a person. I can’t speak generically and broadly in that way about people. We’re dealing with individuals. It’s like being married to a doctor and he has to deal with blood, but you don’t like the sight of blood. There is always something. The commonality in that is the fame. People are very enamored by celebrity and fame.  For famous men, there’s a flock of women. The women come in droves proportionate to the size of the person. A guy with a quiet life and a quiet job might not meet as many women.
