The soundtrack for The Great Gasby has received just a much shine as the actual movie but the reviews haven’t been much better.

So, let’s forget about Jay-Z’s “$100 Bill” and Beyoncé’s remake of Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black.”  Instead, let’s move on to a fresh new voice in the music industry who’s been making major noise.

Emeli Sandé is a Scottish soul singer whose biggest hit to date, “Next To Me,” has instantly made her a favorite among many music fans.

She recently took a big risk by remaking Beyoncé’s “Crazy In Love” for the Gatsby soundtrack.  Other than the lyrics, the sound is completely different. Where Beyonce was very pop and R&B driven, Sandé’s version has more of a jazz and big band sound to it.

The music behind Sandé’s vocals was provided by the Bryan Ferry Orchestra and they sound awesome.

But the bigger question is: What do you think of Emeli’s vocals?

Check it out and let us know what you think? Also, are you an Emeli Sandé fan?

  • The cover version of this song that the girls on American idol top 4 did sounds better than this one. Theirs is worth the listen. And I’m a big Emeli Sande fan!

  • This sound and song is just not for Emeli….I think someone else could’ve done it and made it sound better. And this really isn’t a remake…Just a cover because she changed NO VOCALS…just the beat….I think she could’ve done a better job…especially with how talented she truly is.

Her voice is wasted on this raggedy song.. Jay and Bey are desperate to win an Oscar for something..

  • Cammi

It feels like her voice is blending in with the Instrumental music to the point where it feels like you have to strain your ears to hear her voice.

Yeah, I’m a huge Emile Sande fan, but I don’t like that. I’ll just keep waiting for her next album, which from the song she debuted at the Royal Albert concert, called Enough, should be good.

  • This is the issue: The lyrics in Crazy in Love are weak so when you put it together with a classic sound, it doesn’t sound good. It’s bubblegum which is fine but it also shows you how a catchy beat will make a song sound better than it really is.

If this song is for The Great Gatsby, then I think it’s great! Otherwise, I don’t think it was worth remaking! It has a 1920’s sound. It would do The Great Gatsby soundtrack justice.

Love emeli and have her album but I’m not feeling the song. I never liked the beyonce version either.
