With all of the drama surrounding his wife and her American Idol co-host, many have been wondering what Nick Cannon thinks of all of the controversy. The comedian and producer recently stopped by KTLA in Los Angeles for an interview and offered his two cents on the Mariah-Nicki controversy, while making some humorous revelations about the ongoing bickering. Check out some of what he had to say.

On Mariah warning Fox producers that hiring Nicki was a bad idea:

“The amazing thing is that my wife, foreseeing all of this, tried to tell the network. She said, ‘I don’t think this is going to work, I’m afraid.’ She said, ‘I don’t need this. I’m doing this for the brand of ‘American Idol,’ which she has been a fan of and [she] loves the show, but [they're] kind of gonna take this in the wrong direction like one of those reality shows. She’s said, ’I didn’t sign up to be on ‘Love & Hip Hop.'”

On if he thinks producers are playing up the Nicki-Mariah drama:

“That’s the thing. My wife has been taking the high road, trying her best to just take it, but it feels like the producers and everybody else wants to just play into the sound bites and stuff like that. It’s unfortunate.”

On if he thinks Mariah will sign on for another season:

“She just released a single today that is all of the place called “#Beautiful.” She’s so focused on her music and what she really loves to do, and that’s why she did ‘American Idol’ in the first place. Like, ‘Oh, I’m a lover of singers and music,’ so, it’s a time where she has so many amazing things going on in her life. If there’s something unstable…if they get it stable, she might relook, but nobody wants to be apart of anything that’s unstable.”

The funny thing is Mariah has had a reputation for being difficult and at one point in her life crazy. So, the fact that she can’t handle herself with Nicki Minaj is shocking. I believe to some extent they are alike in some way. They both probably have big egos and when you get two people together like that there is going to be problems.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume you guys aren’t married. Because if you were, you’ll know that married people operates as 1 entity. So yes, Mariah may not speak on the drama, but her HUSBAND has decided too. And I’m sure if she didn’t want him to speak on it, he wouldn’t. But his coming from someone who’s been married for almost a decade now so what do I know….

I just think two talented black women bickering on television is so wrong. Nick has the right to speak on ANYTHING concerning his wife.

American Idol is on for the wrong reasons anytime it get compared to Love and Hip-hop. It’s like to hell with the contestants let’s focus on the feuding. Does it even matter who wins now?

I think Nick Cannon should not be talking or speaking about whats happening between his Wife and Nicki Minaj. Yes its your wife and you should defend her but if your wife or her P.R. team is not addressing why should you. Both of them are wrong throwing shade at each other, they are grown women. Nick, if your wife so much foreseen this happening then she could of avoid it. Yes Nicki is wrong on so many levels but your wife also played a role it. Nicki Minaj should of never run to twitter to air out her frustration. The Producers played a part in this because they could of fix this matter in the begin instead of let this going on for weeks instead of focusing on them rather than the singers. I am so fed of celebrity fighting/cussing/feuding over of stupid stuff. They are getting paid to judge a singing show not to keep throwing shade.

Ok…I get that Mariah is his wife and whatever happens good, bad or indifferent he’s supporting her. That said, if SHE’S not speaking on it then why does he feel he needs to? She has a mouth and, last I checked, it works (she’s got several albums and interviews to prove that). Enough with this “damsel in distress”/”helpless victim” act. Quit coming to the rescue EVERY single time. It’s admirable but if she’s not speaking on it…a “next question please” will suffice.
