Over ten years ago, in completely separate incidents, three Ohio women, Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight mysteriously disappeared. All three of those women were found alive not far from their homes by Charles Ramsey this past Monday, ABC 10 reports.
The victims were allegedly held captive by three brothers. One brother happened to be Ramsey’s neighbor and although the women were being kept inside of a home in a residential area, neighbors say they never suspected a thing.
“My neighbor to have some big testicles to pull this off, bro. We see this dude everyday. I mean everyday. I’ve lived here a year. I barbecue with this dude. We eat ribs and what not and listen to salsa music. I had not a clue that the girl was in that house or that anybody else was in there against their will,” an animated Ramsey told ABC 10 of the suspect.
He went on to say that he received the shock of his life when he saw a frantic woman (Berry) trying to get out of his neighbor’s house.
“I was eating my McDonalds. I heard screaming, I come outside and see this girl going nuts trying to get out of a house. So I go on the porch and she says, ‘Help me get out. I’ve been in here a long time.’ I figured it was domestic violence dispute, so I opened the door, but we couldn’t get in that way. So we kicked the bottom and she came out with a little girl. She said, ‘Call 911. I’m Amanda Berry.'”
Once the police arrived on the scene, Amanda revealed that there were other women in the house as well.
“[Gina came out] about five minutes after the police got here. Amanda told the police ‘I ain’t the only one. It’s some more girls up in that house. So they [the police] went in there 30/40 deep and when they came out it was just astonishing,” Ramsey revealed.
Amanda Berry, who was found with a 6-year-old daughter, went missing in 2003 at 16 years old. Gina DeJesus went missing almost one year after Amanda. Gina was 14 and Michelle was 20 when they disappeared. So far three brothers have been arrested in connection to the kidnappings. One of the men suspected in the kidnappings is a 52-year-old bus driver.
