Bow Down Or Bow Out? Diss Songs That Caused Dumb Drama

When artists have beef with each other, the easiest way to let the other person know what’s up is to put it in a song. Many of the rappers and singers who made this list have been known to cause controversy and have no problem speaking their mind. Let’s take a look at some of the most memorable and funny beefs in hip hop.

The Bridge is Over

KRS-One went to war with the whole borough of Queens, saying ” The Bridge is over.”  He even took personal shots at MC Shan, DJ Marly Marl and Roxanne Shante. Not only was the beat hot during that era of hip-hop but he went in and didn’t care.

Jack the Ripper

LL was not going to let Kool Moe Dee show him up after he came out with “How you like me now.” I guess he wanted to test LL’s gangsta. Don’t mistake the pretty boy with smooth lyrics serenading the ladies and lip licking for being soft. Many believe this song ended Kool Moe Dee’s career. *Shrugs*. Nowadays, Kool Moe Dee does acknowledge LL as one of the best hip hop artist of all times.

Hit em Up

Man oh man did he start a beef bigger than he thought. The beef between Biggie and Pac was the catalyst of the east coast vs. west coast beef. Pac retaliated against Biggie after he was shot believing that he was involved. Pac took shots at Biggie’s wife, Faith, Diddy, and the entire Junior Mafia crew.

How to Rob

50 dissed the whole industry and thus the worldwide hatred of the Queens rapper began.

Back Down

And then he did it again — this time with a specific target. 50 practically dissed Ja Rule in every song but these lyrics were the most obvious. Poor Ja, his career hasn’t been the same since 50 stepped on the scene.

Ether

I think we all remember the beef between Nas and Jay- Z. It’s irrelevant now that they have put their differences to the side, butthis beef will always be well remembered. Nas lyrically beat Jay’s a**. You be the judge

Takeover

It’s only right that I add Jay-Z ‘s diss song to Nas, “Takeover.” Jay-Z is nice as well, that’s what made things intense but we all know who won .Jay also goes as far as dissing Mob Deep saying, –” We don’t believe you, you need more people”

Black Friday

Does the Queen still reign?? I have no idea how the Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj beef even started but it seems someone got too in their feelings. I guess you get tired of people talking smack behind your back, so you take action. I don’t know who won but the both of them need to sit down. Did she kill Nicki with Black Friday??

Tragedy

I must admit I laughed when Nicki said ” Last nameAnn, First name, Raaaaaaagggedddy.” Nicki makes references to Lil Kim in many of her tracks saying Kim is old and wack. Ain’t nothing new with these two. They both gave us a little entertainment.

I Don’t Like

We knew it wouldn’t be long before Drake and Chris Brown started coming at each others head in music instead of clubs. Chris stepped up first and threw shots at Drake in the “I Don’t Like Remix.” Chris must not know that Drake is a lyrical genius. Stop while you’re ahead before there’s another fight.

Raid

We all know Cassidy wasn’t good with making commercial hits but he is a monster when it comes to freestyling. Meek is nice too but he barked up the wrong tree and Cassidy had to spray him.

I Hit it First

You know we had to add some foolery to the list. Ray J, who’s not even important to talk about, is trying to become relevant with his diss song about Kim Kardashian. He wants attention but let’s hope Ye don’t pay him too much because his career is really going to be over — again.

Obsessed

I don’t know what happened between Mariah and Eminem, but whatever went down left a bad taste in both of their mouths. Respect is given to those who give it and Mariah was not having it! I must admit, MC has some big balls for coming at one of the best hip hop artist talking about his drug addiction.

 Bow Down

When Bow Down hit the internet, we got some mixed reviews. Some loved it, some hated it. It definitely caused a reaction from some of the other celebrities such as Keyshia Cole. Keyshia said, “first we need to stick together, now you telling everyone to bow down.” I don’t know who made Bey mad but she had to show everyone why she’s King apparently.

Takeover was ALWAYS my pick over Either. Now that i listen to it “I have grown to appreciate the song but still feel Takeover was better..

Nicki minaj’s song “stupid hoe” was a shot at kim.

Ether was the whole reason I went out and actually bought “Stillmatic!” I still remember how bad he got Jay on that track, but seeing the lyrics really slams it.
