You Mad? Duane Martin Speaks On Robin Thicke Leaving ‘Real Husbands,’ Calls Him The Bobby Brown Of The Group

Last week we told you all there were rumors going around that Robin Thicke was out on BET’s hit reality show parody, “The Real Husbands of Hollywood.” Since that time, Hevin Hart has come forward to confirm the rumors are true, but he shut down whispers that his antics are what made Robin walk. Kevin told HipHollywood in a recent interview that, basically, Robin Thicke is a singer — not an actor or comedian — and he wanted to get back to doing what he does, which is sing.

Makes sense, right?

Duane Martin on the other hand tried to crack a few jokes at Robin’s expense that, truthfully, just came out awkward. When Hip Hollywood asked him his thoughts on Paula Patton’s husband leaving the show, he essentially called him the Bobby Brown and Eddie Kane (shout out to the Five Heartbeats) of the group, claiming one day he’ll come back begging to be on the show again.

Maybe it’s just me or maybe Duane was still in “character” when he did this interview, but his “Nights Like This” joke fell horribly flat and seemed to only add to suspicion that there was some real-life drama on the set of the “Real Husbands.” All I’m saying is I think a simple “we’ll welcome him back when he’s ready” would have sufficed, Duane.

Check out the clip here. What do you think? Are you sad to see Robin go?

Duane, Bobby was one of the MOST successful solo members of New Edition…now to compare him to Eddie King (as i found out it what it really is, from y’all 5 heartbeats slideshow) is a low blow… But still he’s gone make his money. So put yourself on mute indefinitely…

Robin was who made the show watchable, they’re not really DOING anything on the show, it has no point. Sad to see him go, but happy since now I don’t have to suffer through the show looking for him.

Every episode where Robin was the main star was the funniest. I still have the episode where he “Blacked Out” on my DVR. He was the best character on that show besides JB. This show will suffer without Robin. But JT coming out may have something to do with him leaving.

Duane Martin tries too hard to be funny (which he is not). He should stick to what he knows how to do best and that is run behind Will Smith.

Noooo Robin! I looked forward to seeng him on the show, he had great comedic timing. Smh. Oh well, lets make Nelly a main cast member

As much as I love Kevin, I really think the show is dumb. I can’t see it lasting much longer.

This doesn’t mean we’ll never see him on the show again; I thought he was a guest star to begin with, anyway lol…but he probably had such good feedback that they extended his episodes to the end of the season, now it’s time for him to get on back to the studio…and continue making my baby-making music!! imho 🙂

Hey…just a note that if you’re going to shout out a movie (Five Heartbeats) and a character, get the name correct as it’s Eddie KING, not Kane, which the actor and Robert Townsend confirmed many times. it was just the way he pronounced his name in the movie. Cheers!

Robin saw the numbers for JT’s 20/20 Experience CD and thought it was time to get back to work. He’s got serious competion!

    • LilScrappy_w/his_irrelevant_az

Yep! JT knew what he was doing

I absolutely respect Robin’s leaving the show although I’ll miss him. Like Kevin said, Robin is not a comedian, he’s not an actor, he’s a singer. I’m not totally against people who are not actors becoming actors, but something about a musician trying to be in movies and things of that nature rubs me the wrong way. I guess in my mind, actors worked hard to be actors and it was their craft from the beginning. Musicians just come ride in on those young actors struggling to make it to auditions and get that break out role so they can live their dream. All a musician has to do is say “Hey I wanna try acting, it looks fun, put me in your movie” and they just get the role. Robin guest starred, he did a good job and now he’s back to his craft.

I like Robin’s character on the show.. He stood out. Duwayne on the other hand I don’t remember seeing him on any of the two episodes I watched
I am sure Robin isn’t checking for any of these fools

  • traceykinohio

Robin IS a singer. Not an actor. I never thought he would be on the show for it’s duration; just making appearances for the show. He needs to make music. I don’t think Martin’s comments were cool; he’d better watch out or HE’LL be the one begging to come back. #stophatin’

That’s what I thought too. I thought he was just a guest star until I saw him in the credits. Then I was like, “Oh, so he’s part of the show for real.” Guess I was wrong again.

Honesty, I was hoping Duane would leave the show. Some of the best episodes feature Robin. I can see jealously arising from the others due to Robin career. When Duane and Tisha are on it’s just awkward, like they are trying to prove their marriage is REAL. Duane tries to act all masculine on the show but when he’s around Will he’s all like how you doin….

  • OSHH

WOW, Robin Thicke has a pretty successful singing and song writing career. Duane Martin on the other hand has nothing better to do than RHOH. I would go further in on the suspectivity of this dude esp in light of Jada’s most recent comments, but I’ll leave it alone.
