Syndicated Radio Host Michael Baisden Done With Show; Claims Staff Was Locked Out Of Studio By Bosses

March 22, 2013  |

After 10 years on the radio, Michael Baisden announced that he would be leaving his very popular radio show, “Michael Baisden Live.” He announced that he was leaving through a statement and on Facebook, and when he broke the news, he kept things very surface, very polite and optimistic, but that agreements behind the scenes couldn’t be made between him and Cumulus Media, the radio network behind his syndication.

At first, his impending departure seemed calm. “It’s not about the job, it’s about the journey. I have been grinding for over 10 years, fighting for the underdog, inspiring people daily on my Michael Baisden Live Page on Facebook and working my butt off to produce the best show on radio. I hope my fans miss me… because I’m definitely going to miss them. But this is not the end, it’s the Next Chapter!”

But on his show early in the week before being cut off, according to, Baisden openly spoke about the radio industry. And it seems that Cumulus might not have appreciated that, because instead of allowing him to rap up his show with a nice goodbye, big show with big guests or something of that big pomp and circumstance effect (which they were allegedly hoping to do on Wednesday), they locked Baisden and his team out of the studios after their last show. Some reports say that Cumulus was apprehensive about what Baisden might say on a final show, so they scrapped the idea of a proper farewell. But he didn’t appreciate that and took to his Facebook to say the following: “The Baisden Show Staff has been “Locked Out” of Cumulus Studios…really Cumulus? In the words of Rodney King, “Can’t we all get along?” Just because we couldn’t come to an agreement is no reason to deprive the listeners, our affiliates, and our advertisers of only 9 days to say goodbye and show our appreciation.”

According to Baisden, listeners would be getting pre-recorded shows up until April 1. until Baisden is fully replaced, and he took to his Facebook yesterday to continue to express his disappointment with the fact that while things between Cumulus and the staff of the show didn’t initially end on a negative note, now they were going sour.

“…after 10 years or discussing important issues like domestic violence, missing children, leading civil rights marches like The Jena 6, campaigning for mentoring programs on a 70 city bus tour and donating 350,000 of my own money, helping to elect and re-elect our President, and standing up to lead the rally for justice for Trayvon Martin, that I would at least be allowed to finish the show through next Friday. Now that’s some Fragernackle bull!

…To the owners of Cumulus I offer you this quote:

“How someone treats you is their Karma, how you respond is yours.” . ~Wayne Dyer

We may not have been given the chance to have a going away party, but the welcome back party is going to be “THE BOMB! ~ Michael Baisden

Baisden has definitely done a lot of great things during his time on the radio, and we’re sure he will move on to bigger and better things. It’s just a shame he had to get cut off so abruptly when he has so many fans all over the country. But sadly, after numerous battles for him to stay on the radio over the years, I’m sure he knows such is the business of media…

If you like, let the syndication know about it . . . black folks just sit around and let people do whatever . . stand up, and be heard. I have emailed the syndication, posted their information on Facebook for others to do the same.

I like Michael B. I hfollowed his story from his divorce, to filing for bankruptcy, to following his dreams on radio and tv and now this.. This is def a next chaper for him because I don’t see a man like him stepping away and staying away.
Sometimes things happen in a way that seems like its the worst way but leads to other opportunities that were already ordered.
God Bless you Michael and George
