Werk Mama! Celebs Who Shed Baby Weight In Record Time
It seems as if every week a Hollywood star gives birth then pops up on a magazine cover or runway a few months later flaunting their slender frames and sleek abs. Although some women lose baby weight faster than others, here are 15 celebs that snapped back to their pre-baby bodies in no time.
Diva and R&B singer Mariah Carey shocked the world when she announced she married her husband rapper, actor and entertainer Nick Cannon. After struggling to conceive, the happy couple surprised everyone one more time when it was revealed that Carey was pregnant with twins. Once Monroe and Morocco were welcomed into the world, the “Butterfly” singer went to work right away to lose the baby weight. Because she gave birth via Cesarean, Carey was unable to exercise right away. The current “American Idol” judge signed on to be the spokesperson for Jenny Craig and ended up dropping 70 lbs. in six months. “I realize that 90 percent of losing weight is my diet,” Carey said in an interview with Shape magazine about how she lost the extra pounds.
Beyonce has lived most of her life in the public eye. So it was no surprise to see that after giving birth to her first child last January, the “Single Ladies” singer flaunted her post-baby body on the cover of People magazine just four months later. Known for her curvaceous body, she credits losing the weight the natural way and advocates breastfeeding to new mothers. “I lost most of my weight from breastfeeding and I encourage women to do it; it’s just so good for the baby and good for yourself,” Beyonce said.
Ever since Jessica Simpson announced she was pregnant with her first child, all eyes have been on her. The pop singer and fashion designer signed a multimillion-dollar endorsement deal with Weight Watchers to use their diet program to lose the 70 lbs. of baby weight gained. Four months after giving birth, Simpson showed off her new body in several Weight Watchers commercials. “I didn’t realize it [the weight] didn’t all come off with the baby,” Simpson said. “I’m not a supermodel. My body is not bouncing back like a supermodel. I’m just your everyday woman who is trying to feel good and be healthy for her daughter, her fiancé and herself.” Simpson is currently pregnant with her second child and has announced she has discontinued the Weight Watchers diet plan during her pregnancy.
After giving birth to twins Emme and Max, Jennifer Lopez went to work to lose the 50 plus pounds of baby weight she packed on immediately. In addition to routine exercise, Lopez eliminated red meat from her diet and adhered to a strict diet plan. “I worked out a lot,” the former “American Idol” judge admitted. “I struggled to get rid of the last 20 pounds. I had to change my eating habits after having the twins. I eat a lot less now than I used to. But I love bread and you’re not allowed bread with most diets.”
Gisele Bundchen gained 30 lbs. during her first pregnancy but the supermodel and wife of New England quarterback Tom Brady had no problem bouncing back to her original weight. She credits the fast transformation by incorporating healthy eating habits, staying active and regularly exercising right up until she gave birth. “I did kung fu up until two weeks before Benjamin was born, and yoga three days a week,” said Bundchen. “I was also mindful of what I ate.”
Who needs to hire a live-in chef and celebrity trainer to help lose weight when you have your mother around? That was exactly Christina Milian’s game plan after giving birth to daughter Violet in 2010. To help lose the 45 pounds of baby weight, Milian worked out and feasted on her mother’s healthy cooking. “The first month, I lost weight drastically,” Milian revealed to Us Weekly magazine. “On top of that, she cooked me a lot of raw vegetables and raw salads and proteins and it worked! I also drank a lot of water.”
Kourtney Kardashian has made a living opening up her life to the cameras and public eye so it came as no surprise the reality television show star was forthcoming about her weight loss after second baby Penelope. Kardashian credits losing the baby weight with the help of Tracy Anderson’s 90-minute dance-orientated workout routines. “It was harder to lose weight the second time around,” admitted Kardashian. “I gained 45 pounds with Penelope.” Kardashian was back to her original weight in just six months and showed off her bikini clad body on the cover of Us Weekly magazine.
Just five months after giving birth to second child Noah, Alessandra Ambrosio flaunted her slender frame on the Veuve Clicquot’s Polo Classic’s red carpet. The supermodel admitted losing the baby weight was easier the second time around. “This time I didn’t really gain a lot of weight,” Ambrosio revealed. “I was actually trying to be as healthy as I could. The first time I gained a lot of weight and it was hard to lose it. Breastfeeding was really good [too], and running after my kids. I love to do Pilates and SoulCycle and go on walks and surf at the beach.”
Supermodel Heidi Klum’s body seems to snap back as soon as she gives birth. The mother of four famously strutted on the catwalk of Victoria’s Secret fashion show just months after having her first son, Henry. Klum has revealed how she’s been able to lose the weight so quickly after giving birth. “I’ve never really had any special girdle machines or anything like that,” said Klum. “For me, it’s, you know, really healthy foods, exercising, playing with the children, going to the park. Normal things. I never really put a lot of pressure on myself, but for me personally, I feel like it is always better to get into shape immediately. It works to kind of get back into shape, afterward, I feel great.”
Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi gained notoriety by being the fun-loving, alcohol-swigging, fist-pumping guidette on MTV’s “Jersey Shore” but after giving birth to her first child, Polizzi would rather be known for dropping the baby weight in record time. The television reality show star showed off her amazing 44-lb. loss on the latest cover of Us Weekly magazine. What’s the best way to get back in shape after having a baby? “You just need to get your A$$ to the gym and eat healthy!” said Polizzi.
Victoria Beckham has never been one to carry any extra pounds on her petite frame and certainly had no problem getting back to her original weight after having children. The former Spice Girl and fashion designer showed off her post-baby body just months after giving birth to her fourth child. After welcoming her daughter Harper into the world in July of 2011, Beckham walked the runway in New York’s Fashion Week in September. She credited the rapid weight loss on running six days a week and following the workout regime created by celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson.
Katie Holmes nearly ballooned into the size of a small house when she was pregnant with Suri Cruise in 2006 — let her tell it. The actress and former wife of Tom Cruise wasted no time in shedding the baby weight. Holmes followed a strict diet and exercise program that included lots and lots of running and weight-lifting sessions. All of that hard work paid off because within five months the Broadway star was back to her svelte self.
After giving birth to her first child Honor Marie in 2008, Jessica Alba went to work right away on losing the baby weight. In addition to staying active while pregnant, the “Fantastic Four” star recruited trainer Ramona Braganza to help get back into shape. Alba has since given birth to a second daughter a few years later and has still maintained her original pre-baby weight.

Pink trained up to five days a week and followed a strict diet plan. Just a few months later Pink showed off her rock solid abs on the cover of Shape magazine, which was a glowing reflection of her trainers. “They both kicked my butt more than any other person I’ve ever worked out with,” Pink said of Michaels and Jenkins.
Actress Milla Jovovich gained over 70 lbs. during her pregnancy. She kept fans up to date by blogging about her eating habits, admitting to inhaling three bagels with butter, jelly and peanut butter every morning. Ready to get back to her original weight, the “Resident Evil” actress put down the carbs and stepped up the cardio. “Diet and lots of exercise, I worked my big, little butt off,” Jovovich said. “It’s been a lot of work and I’ve been working with Harley Pasternak and his 5-Factor program, they actually have diet food sent to my house. At one point I just ate oatmeal, salmon and artichokes everyday for a week. It was definitely a lot easier putting it on!”
