Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor actor Lance Gross has just landed himself a new gig. According to Deadline, the actor has been cast to star in a new NBC pilot from executive producer and writer Rand Ravich.
The setting of the pilot takes place in the politically charged world of Washington DC and the storyline follows the life of Secret Service agent, Marcus Finley (played by Lance Gross). During Finley’s first day on the job, he finds himself in the midst of an international crisis. He is given the task of protecting the President’s son, but as Hollywood would have it, the son and his friends are kidnapped.
If the show is picked up, this could be a really good look for Lance, who expressed his excitement via his Twitter page.
“If y’all could only see and feel my excitement right now!!!!!!!” the 31-year-old Oakland native tweeted.
Actresses Halston Sage and Rachel Taylor have also been cast as Lance’s co-stars. It seems that the success of ABC’s Scandal has inspired a slew of Hollywood writers and producers to take a stab at putting together politically-based dramas starring popular Black actors and actresses.
Hopefully the show comes to fruition, but in case you need something to hold you over until then, Lance’s newest Tyler Perry flick Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor with Journee Smollett will be in theaters towards the end of next month!
So far the title of the potential series and other key details have not been revealed, but we will certainly keep you posted.
What are your thoughts on the pilot? Does it sound like it has what it takes to compete with other primetime television shows?
