Face The Music, That Ish Is Wack: 10 Songs That These Artists Wanted You To Like, But Were Flop-a-licious

February 26th, 2013 - By IndigoBlack

We’ve all been there. You had an outfit you liked, a project you were doing, something you worked long and hard on only to find that those around you felt that it was…uh, how to say this…a piece of crap. It’s never easy, and these type of realizations happen every day in the entertainment world, where many an artist gets excited about a new single and release and force it on folks, only to find that those same folks wouldn’t touch that mess with a 10-foot-pole, let alone their hard earned cash. Here are 10 songs these artists thought were the greatest thing since sliced bread, but got the cold shoulder too fast.

Alicia Keys

Girl On Fire – Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys released the album Girl On Fire in November of last year, and being that it’s almost March and she’s still pushing the song “Girl on Fire” on us at every opportunity, you would think the album came out last month. It’s not a terrible song, but its attempt at being the girl power anthem of the decade fell short when people started noticing that Keys was doing a whole lot of yelling as opposed to singing. A bunch of remixed versions and different ways of performing it live couldn’t make it hot, but hey, you can’t knock a girl for trying. But it’s time to stop.

the brandy and monica song really is pretty wack, the lyrics are just really immature and beat is horrible and completely off key. Of course their voices are amazing, but they need a better song to match.

I love Girl On Fire. I agree it’s poorly written but the message behind it is nice. It makes me sad that Brand New Me didn’t chart well because there’s a real message behind it. I think you can’t connect to some songs if you didn’t go through what the singer’s talking about. I agree with what others said about Moving Mountains. I liked Obsessed because MC was mocking Eminem even though I like Eminem. Run the world grew on me but the one song that I can never ever listen to is 1+1. Seriously that one was a HOT MESS! The lyrics are garbage!!!!

Number one song on this list should be Run the World: Beyonce

  • IAJS

Run the world, love in this club, and obsessed were good songs.

My curious nature won; and I just listened to “If You’re Ready To Learn” by Brian McKnight. Whoa. Really, Brian? I can’t believe he says p u $$ y!

  • sammi_lu

OMG thank you!! I keep trying to make myself like Girl On Fire because all my friends love it but its mediocre and sounds like something Lady Gaga should have done. Nicki should have made the list twice because Starships and the subsequent video was..wait excuse me while I find my pulse!

I don’t agree with Obsessed or Tambourine making this list –both songs appear on my Rhapsody playlist. Lol

That Brian McKnight ish was HIL-A-RIOUS!!! To hear him sing lyrics like that was classic and funny as hell. he was going for being out of character…And I agree with EVERY song on this list except Obsessed. Love in this club sucked sooo hard

  • CeCe

That Brian McKnigh ish waas classically HIL-A-RIOUS!. To hear him talk like that was totally suprising and funny as hell!

  • Aaliyah Noelle

Um….Girls and Love In This Club are some good as$ songs though. I agree with everything else

    • JaneDoe

Please Girls was wiggidy wiggidy whack…

      • Aaliyah Noelle

        Lol, agree to disagree

  • ANDRE

Love in this club and obsessed is the two that I disagree with the most……. n yea I’m rocking that suit and tie… ima big jt and timbaland fan but not a big fan of jay-z…. but I’m loving his verse on the song…. but I guess to each is own for every song that’s out right now….. crazy thing is it seem as though this list is compiled of an artist comeback songs after theve been away for a while but the title says something totally different…. maybe it’s just me I’M GONE!!!!

I really could not believe the Brian Mcknight song. All the beautiful angelic laced songs he’s done placed him at the highest level of making love songs, and then he came crashing down to a screeching halt with the most uncomfortable & offensive ‘how your *us*y works’ song. I still don’t want to believe its real. This was so far beneath his usual tastefully romantic efforts, it brought his stock down tremendously (in my opinion) How could he think that was a good idea? And to make matters worse he tweeted a lot of nonsense and started taking shots at Chris Brown! C’mon now will the REAL BRIAN MCKNIGHT please stand up? Absolutely way beyond disappointing. Straight unbelievable.

Girl on Fire is so poorly written and performed. Alicia I love you but don’t put out garbage so I can continue to love you girl! Did you forget your music theory? You may fool the masses, but you can’t fool musicians and music connoisseurs … I expect that kind of song from Ciara…and ditto on that suit and tie y’all
