Unlike its name, Smash is not a smash. The musical drama starring Jennifer Hudson among other big-name stars suffered a ratings plummet according to the Nielsen numbers for Tuesday night. In fact, most of  NBC’s shows are doing poorly in the ratings.

Preliminary ratings show that Smash had 3.3 million viewers and a terrible 0.9 rating in the 18-to-49 age demographic, its lowest-rated episode to date, reports The Huffington Post. NBC’s other Tuesday night shows had equally poor ratings, including Betty White’s Off Their Rockers, Go On, and The New Normal.

Over at the other networks, the season premiere of ABC’s Body of Proof was down to 6.7 million viewers. The Taste, a food-focused program starring chef-celebrity Anthony Bourdain, among others, pulled in 4.9 million viewers, while The Bachelor had 8.1 million households tuning in.

At Fox, Raising Hope grabbed 3.7 million viewers while 2.8 million viewers watched a rerun of New Girl. A new episode of New Girl, which aired an hour later, had 4.4 million and The Mindy Project had 3 million viewers.

CBS proved to be the ratings winner for the night. NCIS had 20.9 million viewers and NCIS: LA had 16.3 million. The only show on the downturn was Vegas, which is jeopardy of being canceled. It had 9.7 million viewers.

Lastly, The CW’s Cult didn’t attract many followers. The series premiere pulled just 941,000 viewers while Emily Owens, M.D. had 1.7 million viewers.

With all of the promotion, there were high hopes for Smash, so this has to be a disappointment for the network. Have you been watching it?
