Unfortunately, there is some sad news to report on this morning. Actor, Lou Myers, best known for his role in sitcom A Different World has passed away, reports TMZ.
The President of Lou’s non-profit organization revealed that the 77-year-old actor passed away Tuesday night at the Charleston Medical Center, which is located in West Virginia, as a result of some form of heart failure. According to reports, his heart stopped, and although doctors were able to revive him, he slipped into a coma and eventually passed away only hours later.
Lou’s serious medical woes appear to have began towards the end of last year when he came down with pneumonia. Following his hospitalization for the illness, he collapsed at his home, only weeks after his New Years release and was hospitalized again.
Although Lou is known for his role in A Different World, he has also appeared on television series such as NYPD Blue, The Cosby Show, E.R., and Touched By An Angel, in addition to a host of films. He also appeared in Broadway stage play, The Color Purple.
Due to his service in the United States Army, he will receive a military burial in West Virginia. Lou is survived by his son and 95-year-old mother.
We send our prayers to the Myers family.
