If you enjoyed Kerry Washington in For Colored Girls, you’ll be happy to know that the Scandal actress and Tyler Perry have joined forced to make big screen magic again in film, Tyler Perry Presents Peeples. The Django Unchained star sat down with Entertainment Weekly and spilled the tea on her role as Grace Peeple in the upcoming film that follows the storyline of a woman who has been in an exclusive relationship with her boyfriend for over a year and a half, yet she hasn’t introduced him to her family.

“Grace hasn’t told her family a lot about [Wade] at all. She loves Wade very, very much and fears that he won’t accept them and they won’t accept him, and it makes her want to avoid the immersion. If she can just hold it off longer, maybe she’ll figure out how to do it perfectly. Or maybe Wade will suddenly become more successful,” Washington said of her role.

The plot gets a little hairy when Grace tells Wade not to accompany her when she visits her family for an annual celebration, but Wade shows up anyway.

“It just reached that weird point in the relationship where [he’s] like, ‘I need to meet somebody [in the fam] or I can’t feel good about myself.’ And his brother pumps him up, saying ,‘You should go! You’re an awesome guy! Kids love you!’ And so he thinks, ‘I’m going to crash, and my girlfriend will see that they’re going to love me because all people love me,’” director, Tina Gordon Chism adds about character, Wade

“There’s some old Hollywood physical comedy in the film. [And lots of] different twists and turns with all of the different relationships,” Washington added about the film.

Interesting. Tyler Perry Presents Peeples is scheduled to debut in theaters on May 10th.

thank you i love this comment…before Tyler Perry came on the scene black actors were extinct in Hollywood…white directors and producers purposely wouldn’t give our ppl work and now that black actors are getting more work they want to bad talk Tyler Perry now… oh how ungrateful our ppl can be…Spike Lee is too militant nobody likes the militant black guy NOBODY….After Sofia V from modern family did the Meet the Browns movie look how she blew up..Tyler Perry helped black and Hispanic actors get more work outside his circle…Kerry Washington, Tariji Henson, Sanaa Lathan ,Nia long, and Regina King all got there own shows and its because of there acting in Tyler’s movies…Black ppl please stop hating white ppl pay attention to this kind of stuff and they use that as excuses to remove us from tv…and i mostly see us portrayed as hoes and thugs in white directed film in Tylers movies we are doctors and lawyers so please explain to me how are his movies coonish?
