Listen To Your Elders: Stevie Wonder Address Lil Wayne Lyrics…And He’s Not Pleased

Stevie Wonder is not impressed with Lil’ Wayne’s controversial new verse equating a sexual act to the beating (and eventual murder) of Emmett Till.

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, the legendary musician let it be known he thought the verse was distasteful. “You can’t equate that to Emmett Till,” he said. “You just cannot do that. … I think you got to have someone around you that — even if they are the same age or older — is wiser to say, ‘Yo, that’s not happening. Don’t do that.’”

On a remix to rapper Future’s song “Karate Chop,” Wayne boasts that he’ll “Beat that p–sy up like Emmett Till,” referencing Till’s brutal beating for allegedly whistling at a White woman in 1955. Future’s record label has apologized to Till’s relatives and promised to pull the verse. Wayne has not.

You can read the rest over at Essence.  Wayne doesn’t appear to take a lot of things seriously so you have to wonder if he even cares that the Till family and many others were offended.

    I heard the verse and I had to turn it off. I wonder why anyone in that studio didn’t say anything when this troll said it, oh right, they care about money more than what people is gonna feel. This is disrespectful to Emmett Till, his mother, and his family, comparing his murder to a s3x act, WTF is wrong with him?!?

    That comparison in the verse is utterly disrespectful. If he is not going to apologize then he should at least retract the words in the song.

      this man has said numderus amounts of times that “he is not a human being” (check out the name of his next album & listen to his lyrics). ppl tend to blow these types of comments off like these artists are talking just to be talking but he’s giving us the message as plain as day & I truly believe him when says that. he has basically admitted that he is being used by something so of course he’s not gonna care what he says… I agree with you completely.

    Why are we discussing something that he won’t do? For some reason money makes you feel “superior” and the respect and humility is thrown out of the window. I can hear him say “check my bank account” I’ve boycotted him for a while.

    Too late for an apology. Being a rapper doesn’t = stupid! Little Wayne knew better but chose to flip his elders (and our ancestors) off. The best have learned too late ‘LOL Wayne.

    I never thought Lil Wayne would even know who Emmett Till was. He’s not going to apologize for what he said. He’s been known to say things that are rude and derogatory.

    I think we should ban everything little Wayne and I’ve been said that. He’s all kind of things I can’t say on this forum. He makes me so angry. Especially after all of the comments he made about not likin dark skinned women and how his dark skinned daughter will be the last one. Ugh he makes my skin crawl.
