Products We Love: Clear Scalp & Hair Beauty Therapy’s Ultra Shea Line (For Relaxed And Natural Hair)

February 14, 2013  |

In the never-ending journey to find hair products that work for your specific grade and style of hair, it never hurts to get some suggestions and recommendations, right? Especially products that don’t require you to pay more for them than you do an electricity bill (shout out to the almost $50 tubs of butters, creams, puddings and the like). After hearing great things about their products and having the opportunity to try a few out over the past few months, I’m (as well as a couple of my co-workers who I shared the wealth with) are really feeling the Ultra Shea products from Clear Scalpe & Hair Beauty Therapy.

In particular, I’m a fan of the nourishing scalp and hair oil. As a woman with locs and a side of always dry scalp, my main concern when it comes to my hair is trying to keep it moisturized. Outside of using natural oils and Jamaican black castor oil on my locs, I’ve been trying different things for my scalp. I was pleasantly surprised by their nourishing oil, which is lighter than it looks in its triangular bottle. It probably worked well because of all the almond and Argan oil, the latter one of my personal favorites. I noticed the difference pretty fast, and though I had put my locs in curls and threw some of the oil on them to freshen ’em up, they didn’t weigh my hair down. Score! Even celebrity hairstylist Oscar James and our girl Elle Varner are fans!

As for those with relaxed hair, my colleagues, including MommyNoire editor Karen Hudson, are big fans of the Cleanse & Nourish shampoo in the Ultra Shea line, as well as the corresponding conditioner. Hudson was initially worried about trying another product, since she’s a self-processed hair product junkie, and she thought it would dry her out, but luckily, she had the opposite results.

“I loved it. Traditionally, hair products targeting my texture often give off a silky feel during the shampoo and conditioning process. Yet, after towel or blow drying, it’s these same products that leave my hair in a brittle and coarse state. Clear Ultra Shea provided the opposite results. After my weekly wash and conditioning, my hair was easy to comb and the texture was smooth and full of sheen, without the weight. The shampoo and conditioner combo also didn’t fade my pitch black hair color. In fact, my hair looked richer in hue, with a light and healthy bounce, which I attribute to the Shea contents.”

And as I previously stated, these products are light on the hair and light on the wallet as well. The shampoo and conditioner, a hefty 12.9 fl. ounces, as well as the hair and scalp oil, are only $4.99-$5.99. You can find these gems at everywhere from Wal Mart and Target to Walgreens and CVS. We know how difficult it is to find a product that works, and we know how often many products (especially the expensive ones) can be the ones that let us down, but at only $5, these Clear Shea-enriched products are sure to make a difference on your strands and save you some money. Enjoy!
