There are some entertainers who are instant marks for local criminals looking for a come up. Then, there are those who are not to be played with. Last year, rapper and actor LL Cool J put the beats on a 56-year-old burglar who broke into his home, threatening the safety of his wife and daughters, who were actually in his home at the time. And now, actor Taye Diggs was joined the ranks of superhero celebrities who don’t take kindly to being targeted by criminals. TMZ is reporting that the 42-year-old actor not only confronted, but apprehended a man who attempted to break into his Los Angeles home around 11:00 pm last night while he was inside with wife Indina Menzel. The incident is said to have followed his appearance at the SAG Awards.

“Dee felt bloated, but I had a blast. My favorite part is the dance party afterwards. Dj Paesche kills it and everyone’s on the dance floor,” the “Private Practice” star tweeted about the SAG awards after-party just before the confrontation.

The way the story is being told, once Taye discovered the intruder, he confronted him. The burglar, who is reported to be in his twenties, then took off running. Diggs wasted no time chasing after him and actually caught up to him. The Brown Sugar actor then held the man until authorities arrived. According to the police report, the man’s accomplice and getaway driver, was able to escape.

While Taye showed that he had “heart” by chasing after the home invader, I’m not sure if that was the wisest thing for him to do. Suppose the burglar or his accomplice had a deadly weapon? People in desperate situations do desperate things and we all know folks have been shot for less.

We’re glad Taye is okay and the home invader is in police custody.

What do you think of Taye acting as a vigilante?
