Hey There Sugar Mama! 15 Women Who Bring Home (Almost) All The Bacon

Gone are the days when a man provided all of the financial support for his wife and children. Now, studies are showing that increasing numbers of us women are actually earning more (sometimes way more) than our boyfriends and husbands. And like all shifting societal norms, Hollywood is keeping right up with the trend. So, viva la sugar mama!

With a net worth of $2.7 billion, Oprah would be hard pressed to find a man that she wouldn’t be a sugar mama to. So why stress about it? Oprah has been happily partnered with Stedman Graham since 1986 and neither of the two seems to be complaining. Plus he’s still got his own ends — maybe not $2.7 billion worth — but he’s not hurting.

Mariah Carey

When 42-year old Mariah Carey (worth around $500 million) wed 32-year old Nick Cannon (worth $15 million), she not only branded herself a cougar, but a sugar mama as well.

Kandi Burruss

It’s no secret that Kandi is the breadwinner in her relationship with Todd Tucker. Despite him having his own production company, it’s hard to top 20 years of earnings and multiple businesses.

Sherri Shepherd

Since landing a permanent spot on The View, Sherri Shepherd has experienced a come-up like no other. She’s scored movie roles, TV roles, award nominations, and book deals, pushing her net worth right on up to $10 million. Her husband Lamar Sally, a TV writer, doesn’t make nearly as much.

Britney Spears

Britney Spears is one of Hollywood’s most prominent sugar mamas. With an estimated net worth of $200 million, the pop diva has made a habit of dating and marrying men who, financially, fall well below her income bracket.

Nene Leakes

Nene’s husband Gregg may have once been the Leakes family breadwinner, but now that Nene’s become a rich b**ch, I think it’s very clear that she’s bringing home all the bacon now.

Dolly Parton

For over 45 years, Dolly Parton has remained happily (and quietly) married to her husband Carl Dean, who before meeting Dolly owned his own asphalt laying business.

Niecy Nash

In 2011, Niecy Nash married Jay Tucker, an electrical engineer by trade. Not shabby but he probably isn’t keeping up with her Hollywood salary.

Bethenny Frankel

Bethenny Frankel’s ex-husband Jason Hoppy may make a comfortable living as a pharmaceutical rep and real estate broker, but his yearly income still pales in comparison to hers. With the $100 million sale of SkinnyGirl Cocktail, sweetened with a nice sum of reality TV money, Bethenny is worth an estimated $25 million. That financial difference is rumored to have played a role in their recent split, as Jason somewhat resented Bethenny’s success.

Jennifer Lopez

Casper Smart’s net worth is peanuts compared to Jennifer Lopez’s ($250 million). Heck, everybody’s is!

Tori Spelling

Even without a cut of her father’s billion-dollar empire, Tori Spelling has supported her husband and children very well with a number of TV and movie roles, as well as some book deals.

Can we just assume that whatever job Phaedra alluded to Apollo having simply doesn’t exist? I’ve never even heard the man breathe a sound of employment. But, with a wife making attorney and reality TV money, I suppose he really doesn’t have to…

Teresa Giudice

Since her and her husband’s bankruptcy in 2010, Teresa Giudice has been hustling hard writing cookbooks, formulating cocktails, and developing hair care products – proving that it definitely isn’t easy supporting a family all on one’s own.

Cynthia Bailey

The RHOA Season 3 storyline surrounding Cynthia was probably more about the financial support she provided Peter than her actual marriage to him, making her the clear breadwinner in their relationship.

Wendy Williams

For the entirety of her 14 year marriage, Wendy Williams has remained the breadwinner thanks to her undeniable radio and television success.

This whole website is negative. Writers should be ashamed. Women who write for this are just so bitter. Always putting celeberities down, I hope women realize to stay away from this site. !

This is a very stupid article……you guys should feel terrible

  • Fair and Balanced

Why are women consistently given degrading names everything from baby’s momma, cougar, and sugar mama what names are men given? If an older man is with a younger woman he is not called degrading names he is considered a playboy very rarely have I heard older men with younger women referred to as sugar daddy’s based on their money in any case if a woman has more money than the man in her life so be it. People fall in love and many of these couples seem to be in love so who cares who brings home the bacon the point is its about them. This article missed its mark.

  • The title of the article was wrong. hey ar not sugar mpmmas’s because. Stedman works and so does Mariahhusband work. They are both sucessful men in their own right jus because the man isn’t making as much money as the woman so what? They are not living off of them.

    • Right, especially about Mariah and Nick. Nick has been working since he was dang near a kid, and was a star in his own right. I mean the boy was not only acting, but producing. That is no small feat, especiallly since he was such a young age when doing those things. It’s so funny how people are so quick to call a woman a sugar mama, when she is with a man who makes less; but call women golddiggers when they get with men with more money. Not to mention, men have been doing this, since the beginning of the time; and there is rarely a backlash or an attempt to publicly humiliate them. I’m talking about the ones who are: blatanly sugar daddies, who take care of sugar babies, the men who marry women who they know they wouldn’t get without money, and lastly the men who don’t do either of the above and just happen to fall in love and marry a woman who makes less. There are a few who make comments, but not always a huge attempt to publicly shame them. Russell Simmons, Donald Trump, George Clooney, and countless others are smart businessmen; who can have access to whoever. Mariah, Phaedra, Oprah, and many others are smart enough to have a career in which they make good money; BUT they are dumb, desperate women who have to pay men to be with them. They are dating down. It’s not ok to have a partner making less than them. Where is the logic in that?

  • Davon

Casper smart and Apollo don’t make peanuts, they make NOTHING

  • jlj118

I don’t see anything wrong with it for the married couples

  • cleojones

tom foolery at its finest.. thanks…

  • IllyPhilly

This article rubbed me the wrong way. Why are they sugar mamas? I thought that was the person who knows they’re strictly being used for money. Some of these people actually seem in love. Why can’t a woman just have bread with her man without it being implied that she takes care of him?

  • Its 2013 where are the sistas on here complaining that these men should be bringing equal if not more to the table and these women should not be tolerating this?!?! lol
