Jay-Z And The Stabbing Over Bootlegged Albums

Man oh man, Jay has come so far it’s not even funny. It’s actually mad impressive. In 1999, just as he was coming off his biggest hit at the time with “Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem),” Jay found himself in a messy altercation that had him in a nightclub, stabbing record exec Lance Rivera in the stomach. This was done because according to Jigga Man, Rivera had been bootlegging his most recent release at the time, Vol. 3… Life and Times of S. Carter. He wound up pleading guilty for a misdemeanor charge that only got him three years probation. In his book, Decoded, he speaks in depth about the incident and vowed to never find himself in such a messy situation ever again. So far, he’s been lucky to not find himself in that kind of drama, and has spent more time in boardrooms making money than in court rooms getting charges.
