Where Are They Now: The Cast Of “All That”

January 24, 2013  |

allthat

Hey Readers,

Once again, I’m bringing you another “Where Are They Now,” and if you enjoyed the children variety show “All That,” then I think you’ll like this post.  The show debuted on Nickolodeon’s “Snick” and stayed on the network for ten seasons.  We laughed, we recited the greeting to “Good Burger” and we watched some of these stars grow to be major movers and shakers in Hollywood, so take a step down nostalgia road with me.  Starting with:

Kenan Thompson

Not only was he able to make you feel gluttonous as the chocolate fiend, Randy, or teach you French, Kenan Thompson’s effortless portrayal of a myriad of characters lets you understand how he got to where he is now.

Kenan and Kel’s comedic connection was so strong that they appeared on the movie Good Burger, then got their own show “The Kenan and Kel Show.”  At the end of the show’s run, Kenan focused more on movies, by appearing in Fat Albert. Snakes on a Plane, Barbershop 2, Love Don’t Cost a Thing, and others.  He went back to television and was a recurring character on “The Steve Harvey Show” with his old All That cast members Kel Mitchel and Lori Beth Denberg.  He ventured into voice acting with the Fox show “Sit Down, Shut Up,” but that show was cancelled after 4 episodes.  He became a Saturday Night Live cast member in 2003, and has been going strong.  Though he almost had a set back in 2008 when he was pulled over for erratic driving and his passenger had weed in his possession, but he’s been out of trouble since.  He got married in 2011, hosts the “90s Are Back” Teen Nick programming block, and has begun developing his own television show and movie.

Kel Mitchel

Some of Kel’s most memorable characters were Repair Man-man-man-man, the crazy gym coach (Coach Cretin/Kreeton), and easily the dimwitted cashier at the restaurant Good Burger, Ed.  Then, we got to learn how much Kel loved orange soda in the show “Kenan and Kel.”

Kel continued to act once leaving the Nickelodeon set.  He has appeared in numerous movies and television shows, and was nominated for a Daytime Emmy for his voice work in “Clifford, the Big Red Dog.”  In 2003 he auditioned for a spot in SNL, but lost out to his old cast mate Kenan.  Along with acting in movies, television (remember him on the episode of “The Game,” where Jason meets Chardonnay’s friends?), voice work, and having a cameo appearance in Kanye West’s “All Falls Down” video, he has also begun writing movies, his first venture was “Dance Fu,” which was directed by Cedric the Entertainer. He also appeared on the CW show “Stupid Hype.”  Even though most of the old “All That” cast members reunited in 2011 for Comikaze, Kel and Kenan’s friendship has seemed to have disappeared.  Kel also continued with his music, and has two children from a previous marriage, but is now currently married rapper Asia Lee, and publicly proclaims his Christianity through his music.

Josh Server

Josh Server was known for playing the Ear Boy who for some reason always had the help of Ross Perot, Detective Dan, Jimmy Bond Agent 1/7.  Josh Server was hilarious in his roles, and also had a role in the movie Good Burger.  After “All That” he continued to appear in a few Nick series, like “Drake and Josh,” “The Secret World of Alex Mack,” and “Ned’s Life DeClassified.”  he was in the web series “Laugh Out Loud,” with Kenan Thompson in 2006, but took a small break from acting after appearing in the movie Broken Record.  He came back with playing a dual role in the short film World Peace, and continues to act.

Lori Beth Denberg

Lori Beth was able to play multiple characters like “The Loud Librarian,” but she was most memorable on the show for the segment “Vital Information.”

Lori Beth continued acting and had a recurring role on “The Steve Harvey Show” and continued playing comedic roles like in the movie Dodgeball:  A True Underdog Story, and the show “Workaholics” in a 2012 episode.

Angelique Bates

Angelique did a great Steve Urkel impression and was the second banana to the chocolate eating duo “Randy and Mandy.” When the show moved from LA to Miami, Angelique left.

She has stayed active, by appearing in shows like “Boston Public,” “Strong Medicine,” “Tim and Eric…” and having bit parts in movies like Thirteen and 35 and Ticking.  She is a rapper, with multiple EPs available.  She still performs sketch comedy, and posts her hilarious videos on Youtube (sometimes teaming up with past members Katrina and Alisa), she does stand-up comedy and supports the Operation Healthy Africa charity.

Katrina Johnson

Knowing how to pimp the musical guests, play a Lemonade Scammer, and giving Ear Boy misguided advice as Ross Perot.  Katrina, being the youngest on the show in the first season, went on to graduate high school at the age of 15.  After the show, she pursued a career in singing while also going to college.  She graduated from Cal State Long Beach University, and recorded an album as the lead singer in the group “Lush.”   She’s a series regular in the Playboy TV series “King of Clubs,” and is a radio personality for Uncensored Radio.

Alisa Reyes

As Kiki the Island Girl Alisa Reyes was annoyingly funny, and Alisa was also able to portray other happy characters that she always played, with her delivery.  After “All That,” she ventured to sitcoms, and had a role as a main character on the show “One World,” where she won the 2000’s Young Star Award.  She continued her success as the voice of LaCienega Boulevardes on the show “The Proud Family,” and has appeared in the shows “Six Feet Under,” “NYPD Blue,” “Boston Public” “Passions,” and so on.  She continues to star in movies, filming a reality show with former cast mate Katrina Johnson, entitled “Still All That,” and is currently a radio personality for Playboy Radio for Sirius Satellite radio, and has her own radio show “The Alisa Reyes Show” on blogtalk radio, while she pursues her singing career.

Amanda Bynes

The pint sized star exploded on the set with her “Ask Ashley” segment, and was able to parlay her success in the show’s parody segment of “Moody’s Point,” and then she eventually got her own show, called “The Amanda Show.”  Amanda Bynes went on to appear in a myriad of movies, including She’s the Man, Hairspray, and also co-starred in the show “What I Like About You.” She decided to retire from acting, which is understandable.  She was romantically linked to Kid Cudi in 2010.  She has hit a string of bad luck with DUIs, alleged drug use, and a tweet to the President, but everyone loves a comeback story, so Amanda, I’m rooting for you!!

Nick Cannon

Before he became known as the actor, musician, host, husband, and mogul that he is, Nick Cannon was known for playing LaTanya, the unhelpful clerk at the Convenience Store.  Seeing that Nick has done so many things, this is an extremely shortened version of his accomplishments.

Like I said, Nick is a mogul, being the Chairman of TeenNick, had his own show “Wild ‘N Out,” and created the show “Incredible Crew” for Nickelodeon, which is a teen sketch comedy show.  He’s managed people, married Mariah, and continues to act in shows like “Up All Night,”  “The Real Husbands of Hollywood” and hosts for “America’s Got Talent.”

Jamie Lynn Spears

Britney Spears’ sister, she joined the cast in its 8th season, and then went on to have her own show on Nick called “Zoey 101.”  Though her show was popular, she was fired after she became pregnant.  She has a daughter, and is focusing on her music career while she living in Nashville.

Christy Knowings

Christy joined the cast after Katrina and Alisa left and was able to parlay multiple characters beautifully.  After the show she and her twin brother appeared on a sketch comedy show produced by Rosie O’Donnell.  She has done modeling, singing, and she currently appears on Sesame Street.

Danny Tamberelli

I don’t know if anyone else was a fan of “The Adventures of Pete and Pete,” but Danny Tamberelli, who played the younger Pete was also a cast member of All That.  Seeing that I might not do a “Where Are They Now: Adventures of Pete and Pete,” I wanted to throw in a quick update on him.  He’s taking a break from Hollywood and focuses more on music by playing bass in his band “Jounce.”

  • Sagittarius81

Oh god, this was my shyte back in the day. I was in the 7th grade when this first came on and yes I had a huge crush on Kenan Thompson back then.

  • ATL Shawty

I don’t remember Nick Cannon on the series, he must’ve been in one of the later seasons before the show ended. Also, a few others I don’t remember, but this show was a staple on Nick. I heard some years ago from someone who knows Kel personally, that he was going through rough times with substance abuse, and thats why Kenan distanced himself from him, which is understandable, esp if the person refuses to get help, and that was probably the case at the time (around 2005), but I’m glad to see he’s cleaned up his act. But neways, I used to watch the show every time it came on. Will forever be apart of my childhood. Kid shows just aren’t how they used to be, nowadays, they are just garbage and more PG-13 than anything!

    • ATL Shawty

      Knows Kenan personally*

    • Keisha Samoht

Wow, maybe thats why Kenan got the SNL gig over Kel…

I pray that all of them are successful. I’m not wrestling with these “click click click” pages. Ugh MN step your mobile site bars up.

Oh god Josh Server, he was my bf for my primary and middle school years lol

  • Nick

    I miss the old Nick.

  • Danielle

Teen nicks “the 90s are all that” is so wack!!! As a 22 year old who grew up on classic nickelodeon, the quality of Nick shows has decreased. I’d love to see and watch a channel where’s its nothing but classic nick shows. C’mon nick cannon!!!

  • mochaaa

Watching all that now gets me so emotional. Those were the best yrs of my life

    • SunshineBlossom

They definitely were… *sighs* what I wouldn’t give to be a cast member during the first 6 season.
